  1. We are so lucky here at this forum, because there is so much Mika information, we can appreciate him as a person, not just a remote figurehead popstar.

I need some thinking time, because otherwise all you will get is a dictionary list of superlatives and praise, - people are too complex to describe easily once you get past the obvious physical stuff. I have many impressions all whirling, in a beautiful blur.

  2. Hi,

I'm back and still floating on air!

Pam_Ram, I was thinking of you - please tell me your night was not spent on the roadside! (And that you got home safely!)

I've read the other reports, but have not written mine yet - so much happened I could write a book, so I need to reflect and digest for a few more hours.

I need to visit the "how to sleep" thread and pick up some clues, because my body has stopped believing it is necessary when the time could be spent thinking and bouncing instead!

Please be patient, I promise more detail as soon as I can be coherent!

    Random Mika thoughts -

So much finer and more delicate in features and body than I had thought - the camera really does add 10 pounds!

Friendly, with a definite element of reserve - he's a person with a lot of personal boundaries, and he chooses carefully what he does. Spontaneous, but with a huge amount of self-control.

We (fanclub) are likely to get a Mika blog on a semi-regular basis - not clear if on this site or Mikasounds or Myspace. We may also get more access to dates and info without needing to work quite so hard to ferret it all out!

His manager was definitely looking for us to have a chat and find out what we wanted from Mika. (Pinch me, I might still be dreaming!)

Wear the brightest gaudiest clothes you can - it so works!!!!

Wear a fanclub badge - they know it and look for it!

Meet up with other fanclub members and try to group - it will help us get noticed as a significant force, not just a random straggle.

Mika was on a definite high, so charged up to be on stage, he firecrackered his way around the stage - with a huge grin!

    Mika Mika Mika!!!!

  3. There seem to be a significant number of posts about how Mika should get some more rest, so I decided to start this thread to give him the benefit of our collective wisdom.

Any tips on how to get to sleep in a strange place, or on a plane etc would be great, so he can try a few for himself!

    My own tip is:

Take your own pillow! With the amount of luggage that has to travel with you everywhere, one pillow won't make much of a difference, but there is great joy in sleeping on a consistent comfortable pillow.

Anyone got any others? Please share with Mika!

  4. Update:

    I've been adding several clips!

    BUT

I have trouble converting two of the videos! If anyone know other free video converters - please PM me NOW! And get a free cup!

AAAANNNND! When sending videos, please remember to tell, only if you're more than two in the video, who the other person is! I have no idea you know :thumb_yello:

    P.s. .. Please don't use big fonts :mf_rosetinted::bleh:

    http://www.media-convert.com/ is another option

Oh well, I guess it is some consolation that I will at least get to see the concert, but in no way replaces being there for real.

I am so jealous of everyone who is going!! :Quote:

The Take 40 website is doing the filming, and they have a competition which is still running to win airfares and tickets.

It closes May 30, and I think you need to register with them to be able to enter.

25 words or less to say why you desreve to be there.

  6. This is a generalisation, but -

I think everyone strives for love and attention. Good looking people get a lot more of that for free. Sometimes they are so good looking everyone just wants them to sit still and be admired, not speak and interrupt the picture.

People with lesser looks have to work out other strategies to get the love and attention, which might mean going funny, or artistic, or intelligent, or just weird and interesting.

Mika seems to win both ways, because his level of looks would normally mean

that he automatically was given the love, but his changing countries and not fitting in at school meant that he had to find another path and develop his personality to survive.

This is all an extreme generalisation, and I resepct that people with Mika level of artistic talent (music and art) will always need to express it, but us lesser mortals tend to go where we are driven.

    There is a joke about:

"Do you have a really great personality?'

    "Yes"

"Wow, you must be really ugly!"

which always fit me a bit too well...

  7. A quick update -

I went to the website to see if tickets are still available, which is just a check to see if it sold out in the first half hour - lol!

I had not noticed before that the headline reads:

    Saturday 2 Jun

Frontier Touring Presents MIKA - This Event Will Be Filmed

    Wow!!!

So now we just need to get our greedy hands on the official film!!!

The bad news is, that means they are likely to really crack down on personal cameras, videos, everything, to maintain their recording as exclusive...

I wish I had a bigger bust!! (lol) They are so good to smuggle things in!

Being flatchested sometimes causes real problems!

  8. I got my ticket yesterday at the dot of 12, but checked again this morning, and there are still pre-sale tickets available...

So maybe he won't be mobbed??....

It will be interesting to see the crowd levels, given the short notice, and the lack of advertising. Or is Sydney flooded with ads?

  9. Mouselle where did you order flashy hearts from??? I haven't been able to find any anywhere! I wanted to get some for us!

    Hi,

sorry for the delay - I only get the computer time in the early mornings! Life is busy!

I have ordered a pack of 18 from here - would anyone like to meet up and grab one fom me? I don't think I can find a way to use them all in one Mika visit, no matter how dedicated I am!

    http://ilumn8.com.au/cat-flashing-necklaces.cfm

  10. Ok, I temporarily stopped my heart flutters and crazy dances enough to think this through...

We have a Mika gig date for Saturday June 2, and June 3 is his last day here as well as being a Sunday. So the Sunrise concert, which is still showing on the 7 website as happening, must be on the Thursday or Friday, with my bet/hope being Friday.

So, I need to drive to Sydney on Thursday afternoon, dress in bright silly clothes that my family would shudder at if they knew, camp out in the plaza until Sunrise starts, watch Mika perform as wonderfully as always, hope Mika does do a signing and I can be there, faint, and stagger away to sleep the rest of Friday away.

Get up at crack of dawn on Saturday, dress in another gaudy ridiculous outfit to stake out the Forum, hoping to catch glimpses and soundchecks, see a great concert, hang around for a few more obsessive hours to get another glimpse, faint, stagger off to sleep.

Sunday, drive home to soberly and innocently tell my family that yes, it was a good concert, and isn't it nice to be home...

So before then, all I have to do is buy concert tickets on Monday at the dot of 12, find or make gaudy silly clothes, make Mika a present, make or buy a Fanclub badge, think up ways to smuggle a camera into the venue, hope my flashing hearts arrive in the mail, and keep busy enough to appear respectably calm!!

Too easy! All under control here!

Back to the wild dances and joyous loop de loops!

  11. Mika ! Mika! Mika!

At last, some live Mika for Aussies!!!

    I'm happy, nervous, excited, thrilled!

Ok, are there any who would like to go to the concert who do not think they will be able to afford or access the presale tickets? I have need of 2 at most, and the site will let us pre-sale up to 4. Presale starts Monday at noon (here), so pm me if you have a need, and I'll get them for you. (Well, I'll be on the internet from 10 minutes before noon trying, anyway)

    Woo hoo! Yippee!

    Mika! Mika! Mika!

got to do lots of wild dancing and leaping

    catch me later!

  12. I believe that Mika has a certain chameleon talent, the ability to switch gears and vocally imitiate a lot of people, with accent, intonation, voice quality and probably more that I can't name! He has regularly mentioned his airport accent, and with his a bility to pick languages up easily, is the talent to mimic voices and accents perfectly.

In Everybody's Talking, he does a very close version to the original, and I think his voice is flexible and skilled enough that he can do pretty much whatever imitations he wants, musically.

I think that in Grace Kelly, the Freddie similarity in that line is uncanny, and I also think that what we ave seen Mika do so far is a very small tip of a very large iceberg.

I look forward to having Mika surprise and delight me for many years to come!

  13. Ok, time is running out, and I have to start planning as if Mika is coming, because otherwise I will never get there.

I am in Canberra, and would like to know if anyone here has been to a Sunrise concert, and can give me some details.

eg. when to get there, whether anyone is let inside the studio if it is indoors; is there an actual longer concert/session, or only one or two songs which are televised, how many people usually show up and anything else you can think of that might be useful!

Also, as I need to do an overnight stay, probably with a 19 y.o. son, is anyone interested in meeting up the day before, or on the day? Can we get a support group going to encourage shy verandah folk to make the trip too?

  14. I'm in here,

2 boys, 16 and 19, both lanky beanpoles, curly hair.

I look at Mika and it gets weird, so I must be in it for the music!

My husband looks at me strangely, and says he thought I was well past getting obsessed by musicians...

My eldest thinks Mika is quite good and wants to go to Sunrise in Sydeny with me (if it really happens)!

So I can hide behind him, and just be the clinging mother who needs to guard the nestling. (So much less embarrassing than being the aging woman drooling over the pretty young thing - or it it???) (Nope, they are both bad, sad and plain wrong!)

It's all about the music, nothing but the music

  15. I do like it in a certain way. But only when I am in my car and it has to be played very loud. :biggrin2:

It sounds like a Bon Jovi song to me and actually I have never liked Bon Jovi. :biggrin2:

I voted Hips don't Lie. For the same reason as EnFa mentioned. But actually it is a cover anyway, not a real Mika song. I couldn't think of any particular other song though.

I'm glad someone else mentioned it first, because I thought so the first time I heard it, and now I can't shake the idea.

...And I used to be a bon Jove fan!

  16. Hey

welcome to the forums... you should check out the Australian thread.. very friendly and always good for a laugh. (and shhh about the drop bears:biggrin2: )

Thanks for the hint - but....

I think I gave a few clues I might already have been there once or twice LOL

I seem to feel right at home...

  17. I finally stopped lurking and got legal!!

I'm an Aussie, and just as strange as the rest of my kind, with drop bears and verandahs all around.

I am not quite as perpetually chatty as I could/should be, but will put in my 2 cents worth whenever I can't hold my tongue any more.

I hope this fabulous forum keeps going strong, and we can all play for a good few years yet!

Looking forward to spending time with you all, and dancing in wild circles, especially if Mika heads this way soon!

    Moni

  18. It sounds like it will be a full on visual onslaught of riotous colours!

Mika is willing to share his vision with the world to the extent of holding the exhibtion. Maybe he could be persuaded to take that one step further...

It would be really great if someone could convince the gallery (and Mika) that there was a great demand (and great advertising for them!) if they would make a virtual tour of the exhibition, so that those of us wothout the slightest chance of seeing live, could also immerse ourselves in Mika's LICM vision.

    I had a dream....
