  1. Definitely. I think it will be like Relax and there will be dozens of dance remixes. I hope Mika himself does something similar to what he's doing onstage and then something a little more clubby.

Erase was only released in the US, unless I don't have updated information. He never sings it anymore. Maybe that will be on the album.

  2. Yeh me too , wham are classic

You know at the freddie M tribute people were laughing at George M .. but he stole the show with somebody to love :wub2:

    Sorry ...... change of direction

First of all, I LOVE the song.

Secondly, I did not see the FM tribute live, but I thought George Michael was fantastic. You have great taste in singers, FD. :punk:

    Mika a Queen?

    (Thursday October 11, 2007 10:33 AM)

Mika is being lined-up to duet with Brian May at The Brit Awards next year, according to reports.

The flamboyant UK pop star, who has earned many comparisons to Freddie Mercury since his emergence 12 months ago, is in discussions to appear with the Queen guitarist.

A UK tabloid claims this morning that if the collaboration doesn't come off he may appear alongside Rufus Wainwright at the prestigious annual music shindig.

A 'source' explained: "Mika is already guaranteed for the event but he's still in talks about who to duet with.

"He knows how to put on a great show on his own - but with either Brian or Rufus on stage next to him he would blow the roof off."

The Brits 2008 will take place at London's Earls Court next February.

    Watch Mika's music videos here...

  5. Mika's double date for Brits

    Published: Today

THE Brits is the music awards bash of the year — and the night’s duets are always among the highlights.

Now I can reveal that next year’s event will see MIKA perform with either former QUEEN guitarist BRIAN MAY or RUFUS WAINWRIGHT.

Whoever he sings with, it promises to be explosive.

Duet ... Queen legend Brian May

Flamboyant Grace Kelly singer Mika is continually arguing he’s nothing like Brian’s ex-bandmate, the late FREDDIE MERCURY.

But Mika will not escape the comparisons if he and Brian, right, double up for the Brits at London’s Earls Court next February. A source said: “Mika is already guaranteed for the event but he’s still in talks about who to duet with.

“He knows how to put on a great show on his own — but with either Brian or Rufus on stage next to him he would blow the roof off.”

I can feel a rendition of Queen anthem We Will Rock You coming on.

And that would surely rival the Brits’ all-time great duets, like when JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and KYLIE belted out BLONDIE hit Rapture in 2003 — and Justin famously grabbed Kylie’s bot.

I told you last month that Kylie is lined up for the 2008 Brits. So it seems the bash, to be shown live on ITV1, will be full of huge personalities. And that’s before any beehives have confirmed.

The above was written in the Sun. I get google updates for Mika and Rufus. I want to see them both with Mika. I'd love to hear Mika sing with Rufus. This is exciting. Hope the US gets to see it. :)

  6. Helloooo

Alexa Chung and Nick Grimshaw present the daily dose of celebrity interviews, behind-the-scenes exclusives, music videos and live performances. Today's programme includes a look at this week's best gigs, plus an exclusive acoustic performance by The Hoosiers and a special behind-the-scenes look at Mika's new video.

    (Watch Online)

This might mean that there is an extended behind the scenes on the way, as this is what happened with LT, they showed some on FS first.

Is there a link for online?

  9. LOl why do I have the impression that if he shows up tonight, or on one of the following gigs, without curls, which i honestly don't think he'll do, someone will go and ask him to go back to the curly hairstyle..? :roftl:

When Freddie Mercury changed his look, later in his career, people were throwing razors onto the stage. He said "***k you, I'm keeping it." Gotta love that Freddie, may he rest in peace.

  10. Yes please , Im coming to the U S of A soon

    <is scared>

The lyrics are from theInnuendo album, right? I love that song.

Are we going to hear about the T-Shirt competition when you come back?

You're going to LA, right? I don't know if you are planning to go out with others. There are a lot of fun things to do there. The REAL studio tours may have ceased because of security. I went to 3 or 4. I believe it was through Warner's studio. Every tour was different. They only allowed 10 in for the tour, and you needed an appointment. Depending on what was going on, we were able to see a little bit of actual shooting. One time we saw Meryl Streep by her trailer. We were on the "very secret" Batman set...that was fascinating. We saw what they used as broken glass for the first Die Hard movie...bits of smoothed out thick plastic. We saw orchestration, the costume area, and more...so great. Farmer's market and the vicinity are fun. Don't miss Melrose...great and very different stores. The beaches are great, especially Venice. Lots more.

When are you leaving? If soon, let me say goodbye for now and have a GREAT time. Check things out, as you never know when Mika will be going there to record, plan,....more of a chance there than anywhere else in the US. Take care and be well. Ta.

  11. This is actually a genius bit of marketing from Mika.

He will be in every newspaper and magazine now this week because the World will be in awe of the Mikster sans curls, thus his name will be on everyone's lips, and thousands more people will be falling over themselves to download/buy Happy Ending.

Am I right or am I right? :mf_rosetinted:

Well, that better happen fast because he's growing it right back, and he will keep it curly till the end of time. :mf_rosetinted:

How do the administrators feel? Use your clout! :adminpower:

  12. Ok I believe you :naughty: but while he still has it, he should flaunt it - I want the curls back. Is this his Autumn Tour Look or just a one off?? :mf_rosetinted:

Thing is, looking at the pic of his Dad, he isn't destined for complete baldness. There is no rush man for God's sake!!!!!!!!!!

I never saw a pic of his dad. Is there a way to see it?

  13. This is exciting news for me, since it's the first I've heard that this is actually going to be released in the US as well as in Europe! :biggrin2:

Universal Republic Stars, Amy Winehouse and Mika, to Release Special Live DVDs in U.S. November 13

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Two of Universal Republic Records’ brightest stars are releasing special live DVDs this fall, the multi-award winning Amy Winehouse and acclaimed singing sensation Mika. Both DVDs are deluxe packages that will include an array of special features and behind the scenes footage of the two British stars.

Already hailed as one of the decade’s top live performers, Amy gives us fair warning with the devilishly titled I Told You I Was Trouble. The DVD features as its centerpiece a rollicking and emotive 60 minute concert performance filmed live from London’s 104 year old Sheperd’s Bush Empire. Mika’s offering, Live In Cartoon Motion, captures the star at his show stopping best, thrilling a sold-out audience of 4,000 fans at France’s famed L’Olympia venue.

For Amy Winehouse fans, I Told You I Was Trouble also serves up a potpourri of bonus material including a 50 minute film chronicling her incredible rise as one of music’s most colorful and acclaimed new voices; never-before-seen early performances; an interview with her father, and other rare, behind the scenes glimpses of the British siren. Showcasing her hit songs from her UK debut release Frank and the international platinum-plus release Back To Black (recently passing the 3 million sales milestone worldwide), the concert from Sheperd’s Bush features “You Know I’m No Good,” “Tears Dry On Their Own”, Amy’s cover of the Zuton’s “Valerie”, and her Billboard topping hit “Rehab,” among others.

Mika’s Live In Cartoon Motion marks the first time the energetic star’s lively show has been filmed in its entirety. Directed by Matt Askem (David Bowie, Paul Weller,) it captures Mika’s flamboyant stage presence, with the star performing most of the songs from his 3 million selling worldwide debut album Life In Cartoon Motion, including “Relax, Take It Easy,” “Big Girl (You Are Beautiful),” and the global chart-topping “Grace Kelly.” Using 10 cameras and shot in high definition, the DVD also features a documentary chronicling Mika’s escapades throughout his much heralded world tour, a highly-raved-about romp that the caused San Francisco Chronicle to proclaim the star “an incredible showman.” Nominated for two MTV Europe Music Awards earlier this week, the tireless star will tour Europe this fall, returning to his native England for a series of live shows in late November and early December.

Emerging almost unanimously as the most highly touted UK singer in years, Amy’s Back to Black CD has remained a mainstay of the Billboard Top Albums charts since its release 6 months ago. Reaching the #1 plateau in England at the beginning of the year, the mesmerizing artist also possessed the hottest single on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart most of the summer, with her sizzling single “Rehab” scorching its way up the Top Ten, and nailing the #1 spot on the Billboard R&B singles chart. Back To Black has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide, making it one of the most successful debuts of the year. Among Amy’s many awards is the coveted Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, a Best Jazz Crossover album Honor at the Ronnie Scotts Jazz Awards, and an Ivor Novello Award (she won her first in 2003) for “Rehab” in the Best Contemporary song category. Most recently, she received a MOBO Award (Music Of Black Origin) in London, winning as best UK female artist. The singer-songwriter’s brassy mix of soulful vocals tinged with 60’s girl-group stylings/sly funk and jazz has seen her become one of the most critically acclaimed new artist’s in years, with Rolling Stone and Spin magazine featuring her in dueling cover stories this summer. Amy is currently preparing for a live tour of Europe later this fall.

"Happy Ending" Video - Pop Surrealism, Mika Style

Who hasn't wondered what it would be like to drift up into the sky attached to a balloon? What about singing stuffed animals, and animated hands joining into the mix? It's all in a day's work for pop singer Mika and the video for the song "Happy Ending," an upcoming single from his album Life in Cartoon Motion. The song itself is on the melancholy side, but the video is likely to make you smile.

    Watch "Happy Ending."

  16. Wasn't sure whether to start a separate thread for this, or post in one of the other HE threads... finally, decided, WHY NOT?

This is from the Entertainment Weekly blog (EW is a pretty big magazine here in the States):

Snap judgment: Mika's 'Happy Ending' video

    Sep 20, 2007, 10:00 AM | by Kate Ward

I love Mika. I love him like I love a bowl of Half Baked after a long day. If his songs came in a pint of Ben & Jerry's, I would eat them. Seriously.

But just as I love my Half Baked, I love my Mika sweet and sugary. So when I found out he released a video for "Happy Ending" — a track off Life in Cartoon Motion that I neglected to purchase because it wasn't "happy" enough for me, ironically — my expectations for a lively and colorful video were minimal.

But boy, was I wrong. In what is probably his most psychedelic video yet, Mika delivers a mesmerizing dream sequence that carries the singer through his roof and above the Earth while he solemnly sings about "no hope, no love, no glory." And though what seems to be a sober song about being dumped translates into an inspired and imaginative video, I can't seem to get over what happens about 1:53 through, when the hands appear. Doing its best Labyrinth impression, the last half of "Happy Ending" shows Mika surrounded by dozens of disembodied hands — a sequence that I find much more creepy than dreamy. Pair that scene with the first one, where the singer floats against a backdrop of animated room decor (where wallpaper plays its biggest role since Garden State), and you've got a music video that officially elevates Mika's usual sugar high to an acid trip.

What do you think, PopWatchers? Did you find the video to be a great work of artistry, or just downright disturbing? And were you expecting orange puppets to show up and start rolling heads as much as I was?

    http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2007/09/snap-judgment-m.html

Just wanted to say that the Carrie who made a comment about the video is NOT me. :glasses2: I checked out the link above and noticed it after looking at the article. I love the video.
