  1. Zombie from the cranberries is a beautiful song!

It is, but could Mika cover it? I dunno. No one can do Dolores like Dolores, her voice is distinctive. :punk:

    Just a couple more..

River Deep Mountain High & Proud Mary By Ike & Tina Turner

I think he could have fun with these live..

I'm having an old time music day..:naughty:

Lord no, I don't want to hear him cover River Deep Mountain High. :roftl:

  2. I was making a general point that I agree with the sentiments of this thread as long as it doesn't make people who are trying to lose weight for the right reasons feel bad about it.

Sarie, whether you like people saying it to you or not you aren't an exception to the rules that affect the rest of humankind (I don't need to "know" you to know that) and whether you don't like thinking about it or not it will affect you in the long-run if you don't do something about it. In the end you can choose to do whatever you want, I don't care. It's not about lecturing or telling you something you already know - it's about promoting what's good and discouraging what's bad. If this thread was on bulimia I would say the same thing: face the reality of the long-term consequences.

  3. Besides my stints in the hospital (which didn't really have anything to do with my weight...), I'm fairly healthy.

I don't have high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, or any heart problems. Diabetes runs in my family, but I show no signs of it.

Plus, they did so much bloodwork/tests over the past two years... if something was wrong, they'd have found it.

Hence why I said "long-term". It's not until 35-45 that it starts to become a problem. But by then our metabolism will have slowed down and we may not be as fit and may have more responsibilities so losing the weight sooner than later is preferable.

Anyway, I was just trying to make the point that it's a good thing to try to lose weight if it's done for the right reasons i.e. for health, not for conforming to our size-zero culture.

  4. Yeah, your appearance doesn't defines who you are:wink2:

    I completely agree. :thumb_yello:

But to say that being overweight won't affect your health over the long-term is like saying that smoking won't either - they're both long-term risk factors in cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

I've gained a lot of weight over the last year and I don't care what others think of my appearance, but I do care about how healthy I'll be in 10-15 years' time if I don't lose the weight now while I'm still young and fit and able to.

  5. Let's play "We are official".

    ................

Ok, so now we are official.

    hm, nothing happens.

    hm.

    :roftl:

Oh jeez guys i dont know what else to write...gimme a scenario!

How about you write a story called "The MFC Is Now Official". It's fiction of course. :newyear:

    cardboard mika stand ups

How nice of you to bring punching bags. :newyear:

    Exactly.

BTW, do you think we should get a nice man-stripper?

    How degrading.

    Where'd the female strippers go?

    :newyear:

while we're all waiting....i got a bit crafty and just finished a Mika Video to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds! Tell me what you think! I'll post it in a few places, because i don't really want to start a thread

and here is my other one if you haven't seen it

    yay!

Your videos are awesome, I especially like the B&W in the first one. :thumb_yello:

  6. 68670646ma4.png

That one's my favourite. Someone send it to Jerry or whoever is supposed to post the news. :naughty:

he he he... a group called Beirut cancelled all his upcoming european tour dates...

I saw their name on the list for this Spanish festival Mika might cancel as well. Thought it would be funny for them to meet.

    :roftl:

    "some" bus drivers

All this political correctness pisses me. :naughty:

I think getting a reputation for things like snubbing Jordan and forbidding cheesy Boyzone to record his songs just lends Mika more credibility. Keep up the good work. :thumb_yello:

    I agree, stay an a**hole, Mika. :thumb_yello:

Today is my MFC birthday. I almost forgot!

    Happy MFC birthday. :yay:

  7. when/if i meet Mama P, I'd love to ask her why she got Mika into music. Did Mika show an interest in singing long before his problems at school? Or was it random? What made her decide it?
Yep at 7 !The song was called Angry !:thumb_yello:

Yep, Vanessa's right. He's also said that he used to make mixtapes based on emotions and melody so he might've shown an early affinity for music.

Yes and he listened to one of Nirvana's album and that's how he wrote the song !

I forgot about that. I don't want to imagine what a Nirvana-inspired piano piece written by a 7 year old would sound like. :roftl:

I remember having my first vibrato. It was early in the morning, maybe about 7, and for some god knows what reason I was singing Celine Dion's song "that's the way it is" and i felt this vibration and i was like WTF WAS THAT! :roftl: It started off kinda shaky at first cos i didn't know how to control it that well, but as the years went on and the more I sung, i can control it pretty well now, but I'm not a trained singer :boxed:

That's lucky, like for Romis and plenty of others it can take years of practice. I wonder if Mika's is trained.

I never bothered. When I wanted to get into acting I wanted to train my voice for the stage but I gave up, I can't sing for the life of me. :roftl:

  8. Actually, more and more now people are beginning to realize (not quite the word I want, more like consider?) that cutting off the biological link is emotionally damaging, both for mother and child. So for instance, while as before with adoption, the birth mother would never see her child again, now a lot of people are doing open adoptions, with communication and visits with the birth mother. There's an activist push for most adoptions to become open adoptions, because a lot of birth mothers have been coming forward with how traumatic traditional adoptions were for them. With surrogate mothers I think it's even more pronounced.

    --Jack

Interesting. Have studies been done on the matter?

I don't disagree but i don't think that this is possible in France...a child can't have 2 legal parents from the same sex...there's a debate about that but the actual government is still refusing to legalize same sex marriage...let alone adoption

I see now, I wasn't aware of the legal situation in France.

  9. Hi Caz! thank you very much for the link...

yes, I think second album will be like that: How Much do you love me, it's a song between falsetto and full flat range , but anyway it shows better his colour of voice...

If you want to hear a fantastic vibratto, listen to the acoustic version of Everybody's Talking (it's the one in the DVD extras :wink2: ). Just perfect...

I hadn't really noticed the vibrato before in Everybody's Talkin', shows how much attention I pay. It's excellent, his operatic training paid off (unless it's natural like Rufus Wainwright's or Katie Noonan's).

  10. Maybe it's his Lebanese background? :mf_rosetinted:

My mother's born in Indonesia (when it was still Dutch, such a long, long time ago) and people say that's why I'm having trouble with being punctual. :blush-anim-cl:

I can vouch for Lebanese men being unpunctual. :mf_rosetinted:

"Jam karet" is an Indonesian saying: "time is rubber". It speaks volumes about how they treat time. :naughty:

But between us, do we make a whole though? :sneaky2:

Nope, you all reduce me to nothing. :yay:

  11. Don't worry Scut, I will serve only to make you feel better, as I can NEVER keep up with things like you do. And you beat me HANDS DOWN at whingeing.:naughty:

BTW I saw on ebay today (all of them, US, UK and AU) that they are going to prohibit the sale of digitally delivered/downloadable material from April 8. Good grief we just got in at the right time.

    :sweatdrop:

Mika makes me feel like I'm not whingey. :newyear:

    Phew. Close call.
