  1. Nice! I'm sure the early start will be worth it! =]

My sister broke her tibia (the larger bone in the lower leg) in two places today, riding her pony. He slipped and fell on her. So, they've kept her overnight, as they're not sure whether surgery is necessary as yet. I'm thinking I might go up to the hospital before school tomorrow, and catch a bus from there to school, since she has a CT scan at 8:30. I can miss first lesson, it's only religion anyway...

Haha, yeah me too! Today we tried out the harmonies with a really talented and amazingly awesome singer who I know, and she made the song so much better! It makes me even more excited! :biggrin2:

I hope your sister will be okay! :thumb_yello:

    Hi sweet-dreams!! How are you?

Pretty good! I'm just going through the motions of the first week back at school and being excited about recording next week. What about you?

  2. :jawdrop::woot_jump: !!

Are you playing something in it? Piano at least I hope?

    Sucks to be you! :biggrin2:

I found the Grates DVD at JB Hifi today! I've been looking everytime I go into every JB hifi I see for at least 2 years just incase they'd ordered it in AND I FINALLY STRUCK GOLD!!! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

Haha, yeah just piano. There are five other musicians doing acoustic guitar, bass, drums, violin synthesiser and vocals. But don't get too excited, the piano bit isn't really that amazing or complicated. It is nice though!

    It does indeed!

    Hurrah! :groovy:

  3. Argh, today in chemistry I accidentally spilled silver nitrate all over my hands because the lid wasn't on properly. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with silver nitrate but if it gets on anything it stains it brown. So now I am going to have to put up with having blotchy brown hands and fingernails for a few weeks! :naughty:

  4. Hmm.. I think I like the 'We Are Golden' video. To be honest the white underwear make him look somewhat like an overgrown baby in a nappy. :naughty:

Hmm, yes well synthesised violins are better than none :thumb_yello:

Yes. We played it properly today for the first time, with everybody actually knowing what they were doing. It sounded great! The vocalist has improved my melody line a lot with a few little improvisations and we are currently working on harmonies and counter-melodies in the chorus.

  5. Heya everyone. Just dropping by to say hi! I hope everyone is well.

Just found out this morning that one of my friends went to Dublin, Ireland... went to the U2 concert... managed to get into the pit... and 1 or 2 days after the concert met Bono... got his autograph and photo with him to prove it. Have no idea how she managed it!!!

    Boiyes.

Rainbow Sky!! We miss you! :wub2:

    Haha, that sounds awesome!

  6. *msn slaps you* That is GOOD!

Nooo, you can't cut out the violin!!

Do you have your licence or learners?

Haha, well it was better than I had expected.

Well today my teacher suggested having a synthesised violin, which we are going to try out tomorrow and see what it sounds like. The school actually has a pretty good synthesiser so my hopes are relatively high.

I have my learners but I'm now 17 so I could get my P's.. I only need a few more hours and to practice reverse parallel parking and three-point turns. And I really want to pass the test first time!

  7. Hello all! The first day of school was as good as could be expected. I'm going to be pretty stressed out with music in the next couple of weeks though.. I have to play at assembly on Wednesday, play in the Eisteddfod next Wednesday and get the song I wrote completely ready by next Thursday, when we go to Melbourne to record! I got the marks back for that composition, and I got an A (10/10)! I was very happy with that, less so with the mark for my performance of 'Going North' by Missy Higgins at the end of last term (16/20), but I knew that it wasn't great. And I also did my speech in English Extension, which was okay.

Now I am extremely tired, but determined not to have a nap.

I love interesting violin parts! Make him make it like
    or like
or like this Okay, I don't actually care as long as it has violin in it.

When I very first started highschool, in like the first week of year eight there was a start-of-year little music-students performance in the library and this year 12 guy played his violin .. like really fast and really awesome and it is the most genious thing I have ever heard and I've loved violins ever since :naughty:

I loved my school too, but they all despised student teachers. Even I did

That's awesome, keep us updated! Is he paying for it? "We will see" sounds promising!

Bad news! The guy who plays violin has gone back to his previous school in Dubbo! I was devastated when I found out because there is nobody else in the entire school who can play violin! I don't know what I'm going to do.. We will probably just record it without the violin, but my teacher did suggest replacing it with flute. I'm not sure.

I think most people at my school tend to like the student teachers. At least, they have in my experience. This year there is an absolutely awesome one who plays many instruments and is just an overall cool guy.

Bad news about the car as well! It seems that the red Volkswagen has been sold (but it was doubtful that I would ever get that one). I think the white Proton is still okay though. My parents will probably pay for it, but I'll most likely have to pay them back when I get a job after finished high school.

    Hi guys !

You may all remember me mentioning ages ago about the birthday present book that Avoca is organising ? Ppl are writing little kinds of bit's & pieces about threads that they frequent or are interested in ... & I put my name up as someone who could help to get smth. together re: the Aussie thread ... the deadline is tonight (our time ) !!! Avoca reminded me in the wee hrs. of this morning ...

Soooo ... does anyone object to the front page intro. of our thread going into the present ?? It's really humorous (thanks Liz ! ) & it's ready !!

Also ... here we talked about maybe adding some little in-joke-y stories, like Bogan Mika etc. ...

So sorry this reminder is sooo last minute ... but I've told Avoca I'd run it by you guys ... & get back to her later tonight .

If we don't participate, we don't ... but I would like to try to get the front page in there if poss. ...

    Thoughts ... comments ???

I'm happy with using the front page, it's always been great and hilarious! :thumb_yello:

  8. Yeah more memories scenes would have been good... or a fight scene. Why add the burrow burning and cut the fight scene? It makes no sense to me at all

I think I like it, but I'll always be slightly disappointed in it.

Oh yes! The fight scene at the end should have been there. Or at least snippets of it. And *spoilers* Dumbledore's funeral, *end spoilers* although I can sort of understand why that was cut. But it is kind of stupid. What was the point of getting all of the Death Eaters into Hogwarts if they didn't even have a fight scene?

But I thought that what they did keep was brilliantly done. :thumb_yello:

I'm hoping that the two part Deathly Hallows will be completely awesome. They definitely have enough time to fit everything in.

  9. HP... ah HP

Compared to other movies it was good, and if I hadn't have read the books I would have loved it. But.. because I read the books I know the stuff they left out that they shouldn't have, and the stuff they put in instead that they shouldn't have, and so was slightly disappointed

    Thats how HP was

I know what you mean.. I would have preferred it if they had left out the Burrow scene and put in one or two more memories. I really don't think they gave enough information about what Harry actually has to do in the next ones, like Dumbledore's suspicions about what the remaining Horcruxes actually are, etc.

But I always try to see the books and the films as separate entities, which is probably why I liked it so much. But the book was SO much better than the movie (but that is always the case with me).

  10. I haven't seen it yet, but I totally agree with the OTT stuff. It absolutely killed me. IMO, Richard Harris was perfect for the part. But good things don't last forever...=|

I loved Richard Harris as Dumbledore as well. I wouldn't be too annoyed with Michael Gambon if they had at least tried to keep some continuity between the two portrayals. The two things that annoyed me the most were the pointless changes to the Irish accent and the grey hair and beard. Dumbledore's beard is supposed to be silver! And I know everybody mentions this but the worst moment of all the films so far (even worse than Dan's crying in Prisoner of Azkaban, bless him), is when Gambon's Dumbledore strangled Harry while shouting "DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!?!?"

Richard Harris was perfect, but it seems, with the sixth film, that Michael Gambon is finally becoming more like the Dumbledore I have in my head.

    just wanted to say HI...

im not from Australia, but Denmark...

    Hello! How are you? :biggrin2:

  11. All mine get to be removed, just have to wait a few weeks apparently. Got another mouth xray today and their sending me a letter with my next appointment which will hopefully be the removal one.

My bottom ones are twice as big as my top, does that mean the bottom half of me is smarter? :dunno:

And you'll have 2 more wisdom teeth than me by the time mine are removed, so if your a halfwit what will that make me?

My Mum had six wisdom teeth. :naughty:

  12. But NOW I live in an awesome house! Which is where I am right now! But it's 1.30 and I have to sleep at the house I am hous esitting at, which is over an hour drive away!

Awesome! What kind of song? I love violins!

awesome! Teachers aid thing sounds interesting, I wouldnt want to go back to my high school though, but the again, my high school is full of psychos who are very un-accepting of teachers :naughty:

I always thought i'd stay with my parents till the end of uni, but now i have my own house i'm excitedddd to live on my own

    Aww!!!

    Your house looks awesome! :biggrin2:

Umm, it's sort of a ballad-y thing. It's quite hard to describe but it's called 'The Fox and the Eagle' and it has slow and melancholic verses with a more upbeat chorus. I think my music teacher wants to make the violin part a bit more interesting thought, so I'm getting the new guy in my music class to sort that out (he's the violinist).

This may sound odd, but I love my school. The majority of the kids are friendly and all of my teachers are brilliant. However, there are a few teachers that I really dislike but thankfully they teach the younger years. So yeah.. I'd prefer to stay there, with familiar faces and surroundings, than having to go and get a real job. But I shouldn't get ahead of myself, you have to apply and then be selected by the principal.. But I think he is quite fond of me (probably because we are both huge nerds). :naughty:

I can definitely see the appeal of owning your own house. I'd love to have my own space where I can just do whatever I want. But then again, I think I'd probably get scared if I was living on my own. I would probably go around making sure every single door and window was locked at least five times before being able to go to bed. :wink2:

We didn't really get to look at the cars for as long as I would have liked because my Dad was working on the weekend. But we did (as my Dad puts it) have a bit of a squiz. There were two cars that I really liked. One was a little white Proton and the other was a really cute red Volkswagen Beetle. They're both a little expensive, but my Dad said that "we will see".

Harry Potter was great! Perhaps lacking a little bit of action at some stages, but overall it was a really well done film. For the first time since he came into them in The Prisoner Of Azkaban, I actually thoroughly enjoyed Michael Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore. I've always been extremely critical of him because Dumbledore is probably my favourite character within the books and he just really frustrated me with all the over-the-top anger, etc. But I think Gambon pulled him off really excellently in this one. Everything else was great.. Tom Felton really showed the deeper aspects of Malfoy's character, the romance was funny and well done (except for that stupid scene with Harry and Ginny in the room of requirement), Daniel Radcliffe was both serious and hilarious at the right moments and the cave scene, although a little bit shorter than I would have hoped, was brilliantly frightening. And as always, Alan Rickman was amazing as Snape (my other favourite book character). :thumb_yello:

  13. I'm annoyed. I've just texted all of my friends to see if they can come and see Harry Potter tomorrow night and hardly any of them can. I told them all about this weeks ago and they all seemed like they were able to go and now they tell me they can't. Grr.

But I will still go with the few who can come because I really want to see it! :naughty:

  14. Awesome! I've been reading all the uni stuff of late, (since I'm gonna have to make some sort of decision soon...). I'm thinking of doing a bachelor in IT, and have found this great scholarship!

With the primary/secondary thing, I believe you need to have done Maths B in order to do secondary (at least in Qld, we do). But even if you do A (like myself), you can always pick B up as an elective at Uni before you begin.

Our school also does the teacher-aide thing. I'd do it, but we're moving at the end of the year. Several of my teachers have already suggested I join the school IT team...lol

You're lucky you have to opportunity to stay at home. Where we're looking at moving to is about an hour and a half at the least from Brisbane. So unless I go do Vet science or something at QU Gatton, I'm living on campus! I don't like the idea, but I've gotta become independent at some stage!

    The IT thing sounds great!

Yeah. I'm not quite sure how it works in NSW with the prerequisites for teaching, but the two sorts of maths are called Mathematics (the more advanced one) and General Maths, as well as extensions. I'm doing mathematics and extension 1 (I may be dropping extension in ear 12 though). But I think I would want to be a sort of English/history high school teacher.

Haha, I probably should be trying to gain some independence, but I'm just lazy. :naughty:

  15. I have just planned my future. :biggrin2:

I want to get a reasonably good UAI at the end of year 12. I will then apply for a Bachelor of Education (I'm not sure whether I want to do primary or high school yet) at the local Charles Sturt University. If I get accepted I'm going to defer for a year and apply for this teachers aide thing my school does. At the end of each year they give finishing year 12 students the opportunity to apply to be a sort of assistant at school, which I think I would really enjoy. And apparently the pay is really great! When that finishes I'll apply for a job at a number of bookstores and DVD rental places (my top two choices) and do that for money while I'm at uni for four years. And I'm going to stay at my parents house throughout all of this, because I am currently too dependent upon them to give that up. :naughty:

  16. One more day of school! :groovy:

Is anyone else planning on watch the Michael Jackson Memorial? I'm so happy it's on my first night of holidays. 3am.. :naughty:

I'm so stupid. I read the online TV guide wrong and thought the memorial was tonight instead of last night. :tears:

But I'm hoping they repeat it.
