  1. Thats exactly what I'm saying. We only see a small part of Mika. There is more to him and we don't know all there is to him. Ultimately, as we don't know anything except what he tells us, he could be, and most likely is, different to how we percieve him. As Mika has said himself, he likes to keep his private life private, and its that private life that holds the 'real' Mika. We see only a small part of him
  2. Okay, I'm going to agree with Christine and Hannah and others wh said something similar here and make an important distinction (and I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything, this is just how I see it) The Mika we know, and the Mika many of us feel we love is not Mika person. We don't know what Mika is like when his at home, when his with his friends. The real Mika, the person Mika is we really know nothing about. We can say his funny and amusing from what we see in interviews or from accounts of him meeting fans but we can't know for sure. The Mika we do know is that small part of himself he has chosen to share with us, that part he has broadcast to the world. The Mika we know is Mika the pop singer, Mika the artist, Mika who puts on an excellent show. This Mika could be entirely different, or even just marginally different, to the everyday Mika, but in the end he is different. Love for me, is something we can't experience without knowing a person. Call me cynical, but I don't believe in love at first sight, though I do believe in lust at first sight. Love, real love, comes from getting to know a person and from accepting them for who they are, faults and all. However I am not discounting that instantioues connection you can have with someone when you first meet, which can easily grow into Love. I'm just saying for me Love is something which grows between two people. Many of us have only met Mika for a few seconds, to a handful of Minutes all up. Some have talked to him, but even those people don't really claim to know him. The Mika we see is only really a small partof Mika, and while we may 'love' that part of him, in the end we don't know the real Mika and so I don't feel we can truly love that Mika And as Christine said, I am not trying to discount what people feel and I mean no offence by this. I just wanted to state my opinion on the topic. If you feel you love Mika, then by all means, keep on believing that, just as long as you recognise that the Mika you love is only that small part of himself he has decided to make publically accessible in projecting his music to the world Thank you Baby
  3. Because I'm such a trend pimp and like to jump on the bandwagon, I googled it as well.... 3rd entry (Do you feel less of a perv now Suzy?)
  4. *jumps in* Who said Aries? I'm an aries all the way
  5. Pft.... Mika the singer is awesome.. Mika the pop star is awesome... But come on... Mika the person could be totally boring/bratty/annoying/creepy/scary/rude/obnoxious/whatever. Because even though we like to say otherwise we really don't know Mika the person. (And I am of the firm against the 'too good' saying in terms of any couple)
  6. Maybe you guys should make a poutine thread I'm trying to think of another example of misunderstandings, but can't at the moment. Wait, has anyone mentioned that over here, when we're drunk we say we're pissed, and other countries take it to mean we're mad?
  7. I have to just say... who says Mika is too good for you or anyone? (any guy, even Mika would be lucky to get me. My bf is lucky And of course, I'm totally modest ) Maybe we're all too good for mika
  8. Ah yes, the scone debate will only be solved by a poll to prove a point (and I'm not in my proving a point mood ) They still taste good. I wish I had some scones right now
  9. Artsy it is so Scon... everywhere except American and certain places in the Uk assay it as Scon... its the more popular term
  10. I always thought it was about his mother and him, and him being a middle child and coming of age, setting out to do his own thing which is different to what his family expected. (but it is a personal song)
  11. Another one is Ugg boots. In everywhere but Australia these are the Ugg brand...but in Australia their the type of boots, not the brand. The Ugg company recently copyrighted the name though... It gets confusing when we say how we get them cheap etc... and people think we're referring to the brand. however Ugg boots were around way before the Ugg company (they just marketed them overseas)... (their the sheepskin boots though)
  12. Blimey is hide to explain.... I think its sort of like damn... I don't use it
  13. The bush is the forest... the outback is the great big desert in the middle of Australia Mole is an insult...
  14. I've always used braces and suspenders interchangably. Half my friends use one or the other though
  15. Their tunics or pinafores over here... depending on moods... (were very in this season, they were everywhere... worn with a t-shirt underneath and 3/4 leggings) Another one is singlets
  16. One I noticed recently is Jumpers. In Australia we will say jumper, hoody if its a hoody, or cardy if its a cardigan (but mostly jumper)... yet Jumper is apparently some dress thing in the US? They use sweater
  17. Thanks... At the moment I can't come up with any other terms off the top of my head
  18. oh yeah I was dicussing one of the misunderstandings with arts and decided to make a thread on it
