  1. I understand. It is so frustrating when you hear about Mika doing something really special, and then you are finding out it's, once again, in Italy or France.

He's done the radio show in Britain, but my problem with that is, he's not performing his own songs, so the UK aren't hearing them.

I've become very interested in another UK celebrity. He's not a musician. He's a Barrister, who does a show on UK TV, which is like Judge Judy, only better. He's called Robert Rinder, or Judge Rinder.

Not only does he do his own brilliant show, he takes other opportunities on UKTV, He is currently on Strictly Come Dancing, where he's attracted many more fans.

This is the kind of thing that Mika has done in Italy and France, but not anywhere else. He needs to think about how he can get his fanbase back in the UK and elsewhere. He shouldn't just keep doing stuff in those two countries. They already know him, others have forgotten, and he needs to remind them that he exists.

I'm really happy that I am now, a proud Rinderette

  2. I think this time his voice was tired and you can hear it especially at the end of Rocket Man. Too much falsetto with a tired voice in a cover isn't a good combination in my opionion. He should be more aware of this because people who don't know him as well as we do might think he always sounds like that. He should be able to say no if his voice isn't in a good condition.

This is the problem. If people are not familiar with Mika's more recent music, they probably don't know how good a singer he is, when he sings his own songs. That is a terrible shame.
  3. The thing is, Mika's voice is very unusual. It is hard for anyone to cover a Mika song, unless they are a choir, or someone like The King's Singers. It is also hard for Mika to cover other peoples songs, party because he tends to use too much falsetto, when he doesn't really need to do so. He should rely more on his beautiful lower tones.

But when he sings his own music, there is no one like him on the planet, so even though I love the radio show and how knowledgeable he is about the songs and artists he features, I wish he would do something else, something that showcases his own songs.

I take no notice of the internet trolls. If you are famous, it's par for the course. So just ignore what they say and just be glad that they think he is famous enough to attract their attention. I'm sure that's how Mika sees it. He won't be worried about them.

  4. The Elton John song I've always wanted Mika to sing is, 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, as it's the one that is, the most, like a Mika song. It's about a young man who is disillusioned with being a pop star in the record industry.

You know you can't hold me forever,

I didn't sign up with you,

I'm not a present for your friends to open,

This boy is too young to be singing the blues.

I think it would really suit Mika, and he could sustain the high parts.

But I would love for him to have the chance, on some radio or TV show, to sing his own songs.

  6. Hi everyone

Just a heads-up.  I have a blog and I have written a post about Mika.  I hope you all read it.  I'd be so happy if you do.

    Here is is

I call myself Mari now.  I was fed up with calling myself Marilyn, and people spelling my name wrong, so now I like to be called Mari.  My blog is about many things.  It raises awareness of my rare medical conditions, and I talk about the things which matter to me, so, of course, I have blogged about Mika.  Enjoy.

    Love from Mari

Mika, the multi-million selling and Brit Award winning singer-songwriter plays some of the greatest songs of all time. He has tracks from The Rolling Stones, Sonny & Cher, Mike Posner and Petula Clark. Mika will look at what makes these songs so special, whether it's the writer, producer or performer. He'll also share why they're his favourite songs and what they mean to him. Plus Mika also sits down at Radio 2's Elton John piano to perform special live tracks from the man himself, Sir Elton John and the iconic Joni Mitchell.

  8. I have never understood why Mika hasn't been adopted by the gay community as an icon. Good Guys, for example, is such an openly gay song, it should be thought of as the greatest gay anthem of all time!

Then there is Good Wife. A gay man singing that he would be a good wife to his straight best friend. Once again, it is really out there.

The gay people of the world just do not seem to know what they are missing!

  9. I am on a Mika high because I watched Sinfonia Pop last night. I had saved it to watch on my birthday.

I loved it. The performance of Good Guys was sensational! The singers all joining in with the Oscar Wilde inspired chorus. I'm not gay, but I felt so proud. Then when he sang OOL, he sang "I'm still so glad you found me", and you could see and feel his emotions. His Love for Andy, still so strong. It was beautiful.
