Pillow talk: Mika ponders the "million dollar question".
I've just invented a new word! Gaybe. It's a portmanteau term to describe those celebrities you strongly suspect are gay, but who refuse to confirm or deny it.
Mika is currently Britain's biggest gaybe star. "I never talk about anything to do with my sexuality," he says, even though he just has, in this thick-as-a-post modern statement.
At the end of last year, I tried to set up an interview with Mika for Gay Times. The press officer said his management insisted we had to email over the questions. Apparently the boy from Beirut was too damn busy, cause he was just taking off in the States. "Well, we'd prefer to do the interview face-to-face. Shall we wait 'til he's a bit less busy?"
Weeks passed, pages flew off a calendar, but he never was. Which all seemed instructive enough in itself...
Eventually, we gave up waiting and emailed over some questions, including the obvious: "Are you gay?"
Mika's reply? "That's the million dollar question, isn't it?"
Well, yes, it is - so is there any chance of you answering it, dear?
"I just don't think I need to," he has said. "People ask me all the time. But I just don't see the point. I don't really feel that it's necessary to know in terms of my music. Some people make records that are defined by their sexuality, but mine really are not."
Really? Reviews of Mika are always a laugh riot of euphemisms. He's invariably described as "camp" (nudge nudge) and "flamboyant" (wink wink). Just as his music is invariably compared to Scissor Sisters, Elton John and Queen. "So I tried a little Freddie, I've gone identity mad," he sang on Grace Kelly, which appears to be about this tricky subject, albeit conveyed through the medium of doggerel.
Maybe those comparisons to Scissor Sisters, Elton and Queen are more apt, because Mika - or possibly his management - has taken note of how all their careers took a tumble in the States on account of them being too out?
Last week, Mika revealed he'd even received a death threat. "It was over whether I am gay or not. He wasn't happy that I won't talk about my personal life like that." Although such ambisexuality has historically been a key - and often thrilling - component of British pop, from the Kinks to Take That, in the Noughties being gaybe seems as dull and retro as...

Someone tell that guy to get stuffed!!! I agree with Mika! I absolutely hate those gay guys on TV who are always going on about their sexuality. Like we are bothered. At least Mika is being himself, whatever that may be. But I will just say this, one day he may have to say something. If he gets with someone, for example, and if it is a man. His fans would wish him well. The country would wish him well, and if he wanted a relationship, he would have to just say those three little words, and then, perhaps people would leave him alone.
Also, I don't believe he's worried about how he's percieved in America. They wanted to take 'Billy Brown' of the American version of the album and he refused to let them do it. Anyway, I thought America was the land of the free. Clearly, it is not.

Yes, I have been voting every day. But I've also got some great news! You may already be aware of it, but if you are not, Mika is now ahead of Johnny Depp, and in first place, on the Sofeminine poll for Sexiest 'Man On The Planet'. This means that, if we keep visiting the site, whenever we can, we can keep him ahead and that's something else he will have won.

Can anyone guess what I have seen with both of my hungry eyes? Mika 29!!!!! 'Sex-On-Legs' is there guys. I love him, and I love all of you to bits!! Wait until someone tells Mika he has won. It will surely be a YouTube moment and he won't believe it. I bet he'll say, something like... "Why would anyone vote for ME, to win something like THAT?? To which, we would all reply, by sending him a mirror.
Seriously though. We need to stay on top of this now. After all this hard work we can't let Pirate Johnny come from behind. Apparently, the poll is open for the rest of the year, so we have lots of time to make sure he wins by miles.
By the way, I'd also like to ask a question, because I know we all go into raptures about Mika's gorgeous singing voice. However, I'd like to know if I'm the only one who goes into raptures whenever he SPEAKS!? Who else thinks his clear and cultured speaking voice... is just... to die for!!?
And because I am rubbish at technology and don't know how to download stuff, I'm going into Manchester today, To HMV, and guess what I am going to buy? I'll tell you one thing... It won't be Samanda's bit of out-of-sinc miming!!!

Well I got it folks. Mika's Happy Endings single. I've played it and I love it. Does anyone know how the remix would have been done? By the way, I just looked at my last posting, and I noticed that when I said Mika had won, I called you all "guys". I hope you realise, I didn't mean that literally. I've become quite American in my way of speaking and to me "guys" just means everyone. I know all us girls have voted for Mika, but I do wonder about who he'll settle down with, a girl, or a guy? Of course it doesn't matter either way, as long as it's a good person. I do hope he finds someone though. I get the feeling he's lonely, and the sexiest man on the planet should not have to stay single for long!

just wondering.. what do you like about mika and his songs the most? what makes you a fan of him? what made you put the radio veeeeeery loud when you first heard mika?
for example, I like very much when he sings high and the beats of the songs are super!! his hair that bumps up and down, together with his clotes and his smile makes it perfect!!
Where do I start!!! I'd always heard radios in shops of course and just went about my business. Then one day... I was stopped in my tracks?
"Who's singing that fantastic song?"
"Who's got that gorgeous voice?"
"Oh God... is there a note that guy can't reach?"
"He's deffinatly not Sissor Sisters, or Justin Timberthingy. He's way... way better than anyone I've ever heard!!!"
Then I saw a clip of him on TV, singing that song, which turned out to be LOVE TODAY. Grace Kelly had got past me somehow, but when I heard it on the album, I knew I'd heard it before and I love it. After listening to his album, and finding out that he writes all those fantastic songs himself, I went online to see him in some concert footage... and that was it!! I was totally hooked. I am 53 years old and a fan of a popstar who's younger than my son! How sick is that? But I don't care. Mika has knocked years off me.
But I think, if I had to say what it is about him that is most special, I would say... He is such a loving person. He's affectionate with everyone and does not have that attitude of "I'm a celebrity... so worship me." Instead, he's like the boy-next-door. He's also very brave to tackle issues, like the ones he tackles in that song Billy Brown, but he said in an interview that he dislikes intollerance and at least he is willing to use his music to end predjudices, which can only be a good thing.
I think the world is a much beeter place now Mika is around. What he has been through in his past, and with his disability, yet has become the unique and special person that he is, is nothing short of a miracle. You have probably guessed that I love Mika... but if you haven't... yes I do.
I love all his songs, and really love the new one "How Much Do You Love Me?"

I just noticed something strange about this poll: I thought for some reason ( I don't know exactly why...) let's count all the percentages together. To my surprise it doesn't add up till a 100%, but only to 92%...???
I checked it 7 times before posting this, but every time I get the same answer.Does anybody understand this??
That sounds strange, but probably best not to tell them. We don't want Mika's votes screwed up. Great news about the poll staying open. This means we'll have to stay on top of it, to make sure we keep the others in their place. Looooossssssseeeeerrrrrsssss!!!!!!!!

Guess what, faithful fans! I couldn't sleep, so rather than read a book I decided to do something more useful. THERE'S ONLY ONE POINT IN IT NOW!! Mika 27, Depp 28. We could get him past the winning post today (but we must remember the MTV thing as well and get Mika the hat trick) Anyway, that's a nice bit of news to start the day with.

Wouldn't that be something!! Mika from morning till night. The country would go to pot though if he was on all the time, because no one would get anything done. But who cares about that?
Incidently, whilst we're on the subject of people being ignored, where are all the England flags for our rugby team?? If this was Beckham, Rooney and the other soccer guys in the world cup final, there would be pandemonium, but our poor rugby team get ignored!! Well I think they are doing great and the country should be proud of them.

Yes, I'd love a DVD of Mika. I try to record stuff off the telly, but am not always sure when he is on. I'd love a DVD of a concert and perhaps some special features, like interviews.

I'm a Christian and regularly attend church. I love the Lord Jesus, but would never try and force people to adopt my beliefs. I believe in setting a good example in life, letting people know that I am a Christian, and then if they want to talk about it, that's great, if not, I'd never push them.
I don't know what Mika believes, but he mentions Jesus in at least two songs, Lolipop, and Holy Johnny, so maybe he is a Christian. If his father came from America, chances are he had a Christian upbringing.
For the record, since we are talking about Mika, I'm not one of THOSE so-called Christians who believe that gay people are going to hell! That would only happen if they were premiscuous (not sure if I spelt that right) and straight people would go to hell if they were premiscuous too. But if someone makes a committment to someone else, in a loving relationship, I don't honestly believe there is a problem. After all, Jesus did preach that love was the most important thing and I certainly don't think that love is ever wrong. I also think that Mika is a very loving person. He always gives so much to his fans, when performing, so I imagine anyone who gets with him would be very lucky indeed. If Mika is gay, I'll buy a hat for his wedding if it happens and good luck to him!

There's something I've noticed during voting, I hadn't really noticed before. When I click onto the sites, before I even move onto Mika's name, his face and details come up. I tested this by moving (but not clicking) onto Avril Levine (or whatever her name is) just to see if she would come up, but it was still Mika!!! Is this an indication of all the votes he is getting? Does anyone know?

I just feel sorry that we don't appreciate the other songs as much and will all be waiting with baited breath for him to sing this one! in a way i hope he changes the set list just to tease us!
Relationships are upto him and should be kept private! (think how you would feel hundreds of freaky,obsessed fans trying to invade your space and take up your time? When all you want to do is find out about someone you like? I know I would be totally pissed off!) and afterall he is a musicianthere to spread his love of music not a Chippendale to be groped! As long as he is happy who cares?

I think we all appreciate all of his brilliant songs. In my case, it was LOVE TODAY that made me notice him. I wondered who the guy with the amazing voice and terriffic song was? But I think we are all excited by his new work, because we are all with him now, and are sharing in what he does, like we are his family. We can say... "I remember when he first sang, HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE ME etc. It's always going to be exciting when he produces a new song. But we'll always love all Mika's work, old, and new.

The bitch is actually called Sophie, and has produced some... em... cds. Here are some practical suggestions as to what we can do with them, if we find them in a bin somewhere.
First, use them as frisbies when walking the dog.
Second, String them up on wires, and either, use them a sun-catchers, or photograph them and try to sell the pictures to The Sun, as alien UFOs.
Third. If you are shipwrecked on a desert Island, use them as mirrors to start fires, or signal passing ships (that's if you can tear yourself away from listening to your six MIKA cds)
Fourth. Continuing on the mirror theme. Make SOPHIE look into the shiny side of one of her own cds, it might make her turn to stone.
Fifth. Shove one sideways up her a**e. After all, if she wants to be MIKA, she will have to learn to sing some high notes! This might help her to do it...
...Then again.... maybe not.

I've pre ordered the DVD. In a way, ialthough we have to wait for it, t's best it's coming out AFTER the MTV awards, because, if it's advertised on TV they'll be able to say...
"The new DVD, from MIKA, the winner of the MTV awards for best solo, and Best Addictive track."
That would be brilliant. I am still so annoyed that Mika's Happy Ending, has received hardly any mention on TV. It's time they realised how special he is and how lucky we all are, that he stuck to his guns and got the career he wanted. I career like none other!!
