Grace Kelly, someone sent me the youtube link, life has never been the same since.

I worked as a proofreader for a while - and use to help out in the graphics department when they were shorthanded. The days when cut and paste really meant cut and paste. And I took my scalpel with me when I left

 

I would have liked to have had the lightbox as well.

 

I used to get my scalpel blades in an art shop, but when that closed I found I could get them in WH Smiths (newsagents/stationers).

Thanks. and LOL yeah, I sliced my finger pretty bad one day trying to get a rush job done, but I didn't get blood on the artwork so all was good.

We had to proofread too, it was pretty crazy cause we did all the menus for the qantas flights and a lot of the time I was reading French and German which I can't speak, I bet they went out riddled with mistakes.

My brother bought me some when he was at Uni, he said they were the only sort they sold. Time for me to look for myself lol.

I did a trade as a compositor - sort of graphic artist but more specifically preparing the artwork for printing.

And we did a lot of the art by hand (the trade was still based on pre-desktop-publishing lol they have updated it now I hope)

So anyway when making a form or something you had to rule all the lines on a drawing table, and then either bang out the text on a typewriter or print out your text from a computer the size of a fridge, run it through developing chemicals, dry them, run them through a wax machine, cut it all up, and place the words in the boxes.

Every teeny tiny word on most forms created more than 15 years ago was stuck on by hand like this. Oh and every image was resized with cameras and then cut in as well.

So anyway, it was for my job that I had it.

And I have never found anything similar that I felt I could use with that much control, I love it.

Hey I have a scalpel (spell) handle and I love it, so handy, but I don't know where to buy the blades. The only ones I have been able to get my hands on are the big round ones but I want the smaller pointy ones. Do you know where I can order them?

Well I get the point people are making about the orange looking cheap, but I don't agree, I think its cool.

I just wonder if it would discolour though? You know how a light rubber watch band will always end up stained? I am sure dark colours do it too but you can't notice it, so I would probably go for a darker but still bright colour.

I don't know which one I would pick, if it was me I would umm and aahhh for weeks then change my mind the second I put the order in

I would be better off picking a colour out of a hat.

Lol we had fun making all the icing shapes with some food colouring and a block of that 'orchard' icing you get in the supermarket.

I am expecting the unexpected, just when I start to think about it I have to stop myself and say, nah, Mika is way more creative than anything I could dream up.

It was weird to read, "I've finished my third session of root canal therapy this morning and am pleased." For some reason, my brain didn't take in the whole thing and I thought you were happy you'd had root canal surgery. I was gonna ask if you were feeling OK!

Angus - they are nice, DS is scared of them, especially with the drought and them being fed by the farmers, if you drive your car in any paddocks they surround you hungrily.

And the blood, ewwww, but there's just as much blood in a steak isn't there, put it in your marinade (if it wasn't so many days old gross)

My dd stuck a bead up her nose and we took her to the hospital, it ended up rolling out when she started to suck a bottle though (after waiting over an hour in the waiting room)

She did the same thing the next day and I got it out by sucking with a drinking straw.

Maybe a hot shower with lots of steam and snort the water?
