Maybe that's the "set" from which he posted the pic & vid on Instagram?

I know Daily Star is an unreliable tabloid, but seriously... why would a UK paper mention Mika if it's not true? In an Italian tabloid I could imagine it was a lie to sell more copies... but not in the UK. :mf_rosetinted:

I was thinking the same. Why would they mention his name if it has nothing to do with reality? And it's something that could happen. But let's wait and see.

Just wanted to say that, yes, it seemed short to us (because we are all waiting for Casa Mika 2!), but it really wasn't! The part with Mika lasted 15 minutes and it was in the opening of a show on the 1st channel, so I think it made a lot of publicity for his show and to an audience that probably, for the most part, is not his usual one. Lots of older people watch it too, ones that probably don't use socials frequently.
Fiorella was really nice: she made Mika lots of compliments and she mentioned the Rose d'Or award too. And I think that the songs were perfect for the audience. The first one is an old lovely well-known song (the one that moms and grandmothers love, but can be appreciated by young people too).

But for me the funniest moment was probably the second song, because it was written as a kind of funny satire against the discographic industry and mainstream songwriters of the time. So, in way, you could say that it's a little like a seventies italian Grace Kelly (I'm only talking about the meaning and intent of the song, not making comparisons!). Anyway, I know about some of these surreal and humoristic old songs thanks to my father and it made me happy to listen to a little bit of "La canzone intelligente" after a long time!

Sounds like good publicity for him :thumb_yello: Thanks for explaining! I could hear these were traditional, old-fashioned Italian songs. So maybe not for his typical fans but something that can bring him new (well in this case older) audience. I thought the first one was lovely, just felt so short.

I don't know what he'd be doing in San Remo that makes you worry, but isn't that just one date per year? I'd certainly prefer that. And tbh with him being a huge star in Italy, I still hope somehow that something of that will come to Germany. At least from my feeling there's more Italian music than French music on German radio - it's where many Germans go on holiday, and especially summer hits here are often Italian or Spanish.

In any case, he's doing Casa Mika in Italy, and I guess another season of The Voice might be so he stays in the French media as well. Apparently making good music & fantastic gigs isn't enough to keep people talking about him... at least if he's not doing that continuously. He has always disappeared while writing new albums... now he just "disappears" to TV, not completely. Maybe that's better. But I don't watch the Voice, so for me, it just means... :wait:

I was thinking of a bigger role in San Remo, something much more time consuming, there have been all kind of speculations. And he has said no to that in different interviews but I guess my inner translator immediately translates "not going to do that"  as  "I need a better deal". So I would like to hear their official announcements. Maybe doing things in Italy is good for his career in Germany but worldwide I would think France is easier. That going deep in Italy could mean staying there. But as I said, I can be wrong. Maybe that's just an image in my head. I know that he has always disappeared while writing albums but he doesn't seem so keen to make music these days so reading tweets about the Voice felt good news. At least we know what's happening.

  4. I was surprisingly happy to see he will be doing the Voice again. And "surprisingly" because of course I would prefer him making music and can't wait to see him back on stage. Still, this is such a boring year with no gigs at all, at least he won't totally disappear doing only projects we can't even hear about. Also, I hope this means he's not doing San Remo... Anyone knows when it's officially announced? Thinking of San Remo makes me really worried because it would mean going really deep in Italy. And personally I love Italy, I travel there all the time. I'm just worried it might be harder for him to be international after going really deep in Italy, I have a feeling it's easier with France. I can be wrong of course. Any way, the Voice has a good atmosphere and he gets along with Florent Pagny so well and it's the same with fans, everyone gets along really well.

  5. I'm so happy to hear he is thinking of new music and started writing again! And very curious about the song and style he mentioned. I never listen to background music and always listen to his music song by song, choosing carefully, so would love to hear him talking about this more. I hope he will talk about music in English at some point...

Thanks for translations and summaries! :flowers2:

I leave the full translation to the Subs team that I'm sure they'll make an incredible work

Here a summary of the most interesting things he said today during the interview:

Mika talked about the abuse he suffered from a teacher at school who ruined part of his life, especially his adolescence. This trauma has led him to not read and write normally and he brings the signs even now.

He wants to fight against homophobia since in the past lots of people hurt him and help those who are less privileged than himself.

He thinks about writing articles about food and nutrition and continuing his partnership with "Corriere della sera". So many many many columns will follow soon.

The release of his book and his album is delayed even if he started to write again at the end of his summer holidays. He is writing new things, perhaps in reaction to the dictatorship of "background music". Longer and less structured songs, like landscapes.

For more than 70% of men, Mom is the most important person.

Writing songs allows him to preserve his fragility. Even men today should cultivate their own fragility. We forget the elasticity of when we were kids, so the heart in the storms of life is likely to stop and hide. Fragility is the antidote.

He does not believe there is any difference between men and women.

He talked about his family where the emotions continue to explode and they support each others. He talked about the beloved poet of the Great War Wilfred Owen.

He talked about his relationship with Italy (shortly his new Rai program... he can't say anything for now). He said a wonderful sentence about Italy: "the more you know this country and the less you understand it, as in love" .

Tomorrow watch out 'cause there will be a column about Mika on Corriere for sure! :wink2:

Thank you, Lucrezia :flowers2: So exciting to think about his music/new songs and new columns    Many interesting topics in the interview, patiently waiting for more details.

  7. Singers forget their own lyrics all the time :naughty: They just continue skipping a few words until they catch the song again (the audience can help here) or just change the lyrics. That's why watching live shows is different every time, anything can happen and skipping a line doesn't matter at all, on the contrary it sometimes leads to a really funny situation. I was directly in front of him at that gig but I didn't have any mobile connection so I couldn't give him my phone and it came so suddenly I couldn't just tell the lyrics either (and I don't usually sing along so I'm bad at telling lyrics any way). I think the others had problems with their connection as well so it took a while to give him a phone. It was a lovely gig

Edit: I just watched the clip again. He really forgot the song but that's just natural because he didn't do many gigs that year. He wasn't pissed for real, he is just joking of course. It was a funny gig and he was in a great mood and very relaxed the whole day

  8. Mika has visited in my dreams two nights in row and usually that happens when I haven't seen him for a long time (and probably hope I could see). These dreams are always really weird and he never sings and I always wake up thinking why not even one song. Even if I'm at gigs something always happens and I'm either thrown out by security or the gig is cancelled for some reason. Once I was in the audience and we were told that instead of a gig there will be a quiz. I was like you must be kidding me!

And these two were not exceptions either. In the first one I was pregnant (which would be quite impossible or at least highly unlikely to happen in real life because I'm 45 already) and wanted to share my big news with him. So I told him but instead of saying congratulations he was just like "oh that must have been accidental" (maybe meaning I wouldn't have done it on purpose referring to my age) and was just left standing there staring and wondering is that really a usual thing to say someone in that situation?? And I woke up and thought luckily that was just dream and laughed because the whole situation was so hysterical :lmfao:

And last night it happened again. This time he was on stage but not preparing for his performance, of course. He had a whiteboard and he was listing the weirdest things fans have told him they have at home. And he said Avoca (a long-time fan I actually met in real life last weekend) once told him she has three depth sounders (meaning equipment that can define the depth of water) and two barometers at home and Mika said "how amazing is that!" and I think he sounded a bit jealous :naughty:

And I woke up and laughed again and thought awwww it's been too long, really. Crazy dreams!

I really hope that we'll get the video of this interview, it was brilliant :wub2:

I watched him the whole streaming, answering questions and giving signatures and posing in pics... He was so patient with the crowd. I love interviews like this but obviously couldn't understand enough, hope there will be subtitles :blush-anim-cl:

  10. What a beautiful writing, Rose, made me cry to read it. For some reason thinking of David has always made me think of you too because I know you two knew each other well since the early times and naturally both also UK fans.

Deb, I sent my share and let you ladies decide what's the best and most suitable option to do here (whether it's flowers or charity).

  11. Heartbreaking to hear these news. He was an important member of this community and always friendly and generous with everyone. Always ready to have a little chat over coffee both online and in real life. Last time I met him in RL was in Madrid where we had such a fun night as a group of MFCers. You will be missed, David! X

    3rd Song
Vincent Vinel and Mika - "Yesterday" (The Beatles)

I can't get over it how thoughtful he was with Vincent  I was a little bit disappointed after seeing the results from the previous week but you know this man, he can fix things so easily. And very happy for Vincent and that he did generally so well during the last show.

I'm feeling a bit alone in what I'm about to say but I think Vincent has been just OK for a few weeks... Yesterday's performance was missing sparkles. And somehow, I have a feeling that he might be a bit reluctant in following Mika's advices. Nonetheless, I'm sure Mika will be 100% behind him for the final, he is up against very strong contestants

No you are not alone, I agree with you. I was there a week ago and I actually thought Mika might choose Imane because I thought she was better than earlier and Vincent on the other hand wasn't... But I don't feel he is 100 % behind him. If he was he would have put him first. His opinion is important and he put Audrey first.

It was Vincent's choice, each contestant had to choose the song for the individual performance and the coaches the one for duets. That's why Mika was so surprised when Audrey told him her choice.

Ah thanks for explaining! I had such a busy week that I didn't have time to follow the Voice this week at all so I was just wondering why on earth that song for Audrey... Now I understand!  I liked the song Vincent had chosen. What did Mika say about their choices?
