  1. I haven't really got used to my new camera yet....but here are a few I took today as practice

didn't really turn out as I wanted them too but as I say they were just for practice using my new camera...and I had about 15 minutes of daylight left so I was in a hurry!

    They're beautiful!! :wub2:

I am so excited! This bird comes and sits on the post outside my kitchen EVERY DAY and every day as soon as I see him, I run to get my camera but by the time I get the right lens, put the battery in etc. he is always gone...

But yesterday I FINALLY got him!! :punk:

I don't know why I cared so much, I'm usually scared of birds but I am very happy now (Although I would have preferred to take the photos from outside rather than through the window but after I took these, I opened the door and he flew away.)

  2.

Fyodor... that's not a fantasy related name is it? It sounds like it's a name from LoTR...

I really do feel for those kids...

Afraid not. He's named after Fyodor Dostoyevsky. He was a Russian writer, he wrote Crime & Punishment. I think a LoTR name would have been far more exciting though :naughty:

I don't know if you do... but if you do need an account, I'm happy to share any DAAS pron I find...

I don't plan on actually writing on there... I'm sure my life isn't that interesting...

    :huglove:

I know, that's what I often wonder. Honestly if I had a LJ it would be like "So... Today I drank coffee... and then I did the dishes and yelled at the dog because he wouldn't shut up. Now I am off to dress the kid for the twenty third time this morning because he's ripped all his clothes off again"

As if anyone would want to read that. I got bored typing it.

Is Bill the one with the Union Jack vest and the beard? cause I liked him too... hehe kitten kong!

    No, that's Tim :wub2:

Bill is the short chubby beardy one and Graeme is the nerdy one with the creepy mutton chops.

'd only name a kid after a Klingon... and only one Klingon at that...

    Who is that?

I don't know much about Star Trek.

Except that I love Leonard Nimoy...

Sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope she's feeling better soon.

  3. I have a bit of a dilemma, I need some help...

    Meet Hetty

    hetty.jpg

I bought him (her?) on Saturday with the intention of giving him to my friend Michelle for Christmas. The problem is that the more I look at him, them more I fall in love with him myself. I can't decide if I should keep him, get something else for Michelle and send her a photo of him that says "This is Hetty, he was almost yours", or if I should be nice and send him over to live in Perth and just keep a photo for myself. Obviously it's a gravely serious situation...

    Also, I made muffins.

    muffins.jpg

...I had to do something with the photo I took of them. Posting it here was the only thing I could think of.

I wonder how many Mika's there'll be now.

Which reminds me, I'd never heard the name Mika before, until our Mika. But now I see it quite often. Had anyone else ever heard Mika/Mica before?

I'd never heard it before, I do occasionally now but still not often. I've heard Micah quite a bit though. I actually considered that as a name for my son but it didn't suit him. Lucky too because now that I have heard Mika/Mica I much prefer that, not that I'd ever be allowed to even consider it :naughty:

Oh, we might need to do something about that then.

    :woot_jump:

Some of us do that too.

Woo hoo! I'm not the only freak :blush-anim-cl:

I named my daughter Grace in 1984 ... there were none ... aside from great aunts' ... & Grace Kelly (for real) & Grace Jones ....

Also, when my daughter was 16, her best g/f's name was Meeka !!

Haha ... only yesterday she said to me ... "Oh, & I was talking to Meeka the other night mum " .... for a second, inside I go *jawdrop* .... hehe ... then I remember .... *zhhz*

There is a doll on Playschool called Meeka. Whenever my son watches it and she gets a mention, I get all excited for a moment. Then I realise that they're talking about a toy :(

It was especially upsetting the time that they were changing her clothes and my brain tuned in right at the moment that the presenter said "Now, lets take Meeka's pants off." :naughty:

  4. That's just stupidity. Poor kids. *Calls welfare*

Well, I like the name John. "Jon" to be exact.

My brother and father have the same name too. I'm glad I got something different. No other Kelly's in my family. And my middle name is french. (Named after some cricket player apparently) But we're not french. I think mum (who is irish) named me in spite.

    Dad must've wanted something German.

And Mum said "noh noh noh. We'll call her *Verbal diarrohea*"

Quite. Wish I could remember the third kid's name... I now he didn't get of any better than his brothers though, they all followed the same formula First name= Ok, don't remember that one but 2nd name= writer 3rd name= weather phenomenon 4th name= Musician. Why, I have no idea. Cruelty perhaps.

Jon is my choice of spelling too :thumb_yello: ...But that's my Dad's name (with an H) so I'd never ever use it because he's an ass. His name never got confused with the other Johns in the family though because he always went by his middle name.

Brandon who? Not from 90210? ick.

Or do you mean Brandon Lee, because he was amazing. I guess they wouldn't be long enough ago for a mechanic to be named after them though. Would be cutting it close.

Oh yeah... I presumed Silver meant Brandon Lee which is cool but now you mention it, there did seem to be a lot of baby Brandon & Dylan's around in the early 90s. Poor kids :puking:

Yes it's a pretty strong word but I do feel strongly about these people. They're two-faced, hypocrites, gossipers, people who go out of their way to catch you unawares, people who you can never please but the smallest thing can make you fall out of their favour. They spend all of their energies (and money) on maintaining their facades. I don't know why my parents even bother with them, I guess they just feel obliged to remain connected to their community.

Hate isn't to strong a word for people like that. I know plenty of people like that, my Aunty ans Step mother spring to mind and I can easily say I hate them (and I don't hate many people). People like that need a good punch in the head.

I hope you survive them... Or better yet, find a way to avoid them!

Yeah, they are going!!!!!!!!!! Yuck! Pink.. ewww. Who does that??

I'll look at more, eventually. Now that I've seen one I'm more keen.

I haven't seen the photos seeing as I am not on AMF (Didn't know it even existed until right this minute) :blush-anim-cl: But based on the description alone, I am with you. Pink bathroom fixtures are the last thing I'd want to be waking up to every morning

Guess what, guess what, guess what?

I just joined the Wes Carr Official Forum

They don't have anywhere near as many smilies over there. However will I cope? (and this is coming from a girl who uses hardly any compared to the rest of you

It's only been going for about 4 or 5 days... and I am member number 70!

I still haven't heard the studio version of his single *is lazy*

    What's it like?

Also, with the smilies, do what I do. Yoink them from other forums or smiley sites and keep them in photobucket for those times when the forum smileys just don't cut it.

    bolt.gifyahoo.gifexcited-1.gif

Too much time on my hands, perhaps.

  5. I think I screwed up my MQ so if there are quotes attribute to the wrong person. Sorry!

Kitten Kong! And the "Ecky Thump" martial arts one

    :punk:

Showdown at the OK Tearooms :bleh:

Not really fair on the kids though. Round our way that was a phase of naming children after film stars - so now we have Clint (the window cleaner) and Brandon (mechanic).

I haven't noticed that trend here too much, although to be honest I haven't paid too much attention :naughty:

I have noticed quite a few Kylies born around 1987 & '88 though :naughty:

I seem to remember he was an alien

    Woo hoo! *wins*

Not naming kid after an alien. Ever. :groupwave:

hahah! I loved Bill.. hmmm.. Strange that.

I can't remember that one! lol!! You must've dreamt it.

    I love Bill now :wub2:

Actually I love them all now... But Graeme is still a bit creepy.

Noooo! I can't have dreamt it! It was so cool.

    But you're probably right :(

  6. Yes, there is a Canon 40D!:wink2:

Why you think your bird photos are disappointing? I like them!:thumb_yello:

Ah, well then that was the one I was after but the Nikon was on sale and they pretty much had the same features :thumb_yello:

The reason I was disappointed was that I took about 80 photos and those three were the only ones I liked.

I think I'm just too picky :naughty:

  7. ...and they're lovely! :thumb_yello:

I like this one the best:

    Thanks :original:

Those birds are scary. They're meant to be tame but I was talking to an American tourist at the park who had been feeding them and one of them had made a huge gash on her finger.

I told her she should go and get it checked out but she seemed kind of proud of it and wanted to go home and show her friends what she "got" in Australia :roftl:

  8. I loved the goodies!!

Me too... I wanted to marry Tim when I was four :wub2:

I love the episode where they get stuck inside a dinosaur but I haven't seen it for over 20 years and they keep releasing DVDs and it's not on any of them so I'm starting to think that maybe it's not a real episode at all and I just imagined it.

    *huggles poor Starbucks*

I feel sorry for that child... honestly, to parents even care if their child gets bullied because of their name...

Me too. I've heard some horrid names. Like it's one thing to choose a name that is a bit uncommon to avoid having another 3 kids with the same name in their class but some people take it a bit far.

One of my brother's friends called his first son Maximillion Fyodor Hurricane Elvis and his other two kids have 'interesting' names too... I think the second one was Archibold Salinger Tornado Keith... Or something

That is a good point... if I remember correctly, Tegan was an Aussie too!!!

Well then, that makes perfect sense. I wonder what Jonas was on Stargate... If he wasn't human I could use that an an excuse. At the very least, he definitely wasn't Aussie so I could try that. It won't work but it really doesn't matter because the kid will NOT be called Jonas. Despite what Daniel might think :fisch:

It scares me too... I have no intention of putting a journal up there, but I'll happily give and take from the daaspron community...

Do you have to have an account there to do that? Now I'm all intrigued about what kind of things could be hiding on LJ. But I don't want to join :blush-anim-cl:

Oh, speaking of, there's a new Star Trek movie coming out... and Leonard Nimoy is going to be an elderly Spock!

    Leonard Nimoy :wub2:

    And guess what?

I finished all of my TAFE stuff today. It's all over.

    :woot_jump:

    Well done!

Zoidy/Pammy ... no, we didn't have a 'Jake the Peg' Rolf ... maybe next time tho' ... I've got a feeling he will be reprised ...

I HEART the Goodies & all the wild little Rolf Harris' running around !!

I used to run to my room and hide under my bed when that episode came on

...I could probably handle it a bit better now :naughty:

my brother and dad are called the same thing its so annoying, even though i call him 'dad' i can imagine my mums frustration, but its her own fault for being so uncreative

I imagine that it would be a huge pain in the ass. My two Aunties both married men called John and their brother was named John as well. Even that has always been completely confusing, so having two in the same house would just be way too much trouble for my liking.

I voted for an Aussie. I'm not telling which one though.

Me too... Although it was by accident since I didn't know which one was which at the time. I just hoped that I picked an Aussie and I did. Hooray!

  9. I've always used Canon... I can never seem to work Nikon camera's....

Plus my uncle is a professional photographer and he has a bunch of Canon lenses and accessories so I can steal his things He's giving me one of his lenses next week when I see him since I can't actually aford to buy any now I've bought the camera

That's a good reason to stick with Canon :thumb_yello: I wish I knew someone to steal stuff from :naughty: I've got two lenses but I want moooooore! Can't afford it anytime soon though but one day...

I have the Canon EOS 400D!

    I love canon!

I think Canon and Nikon have equal quality and characteristics! But I think Canon has better lenses!

It's very addictive buying things for our camera, so be careful!

Is there a 40D? I can't remember but I think that was what I was looking at, if not it must have been the 400D.

I agree that the quality etc. is equal but I wouldn't have a clue about the lenses. I've never had a Canon. I went straight from a Nikon SLR to a Nikon DSLR (after much, much debating with myself!) but I'm happy. I love my D90 :wub2:

And some photos... I'm a bit disappointed, most of my birdy photos weren't great but that's what I expected because I had my four year old jumping all over me while I was trying to take them :bleh:
