I'm so happy you got to meet him, Cat!

Thank you! I think all the warm wishes from MFC members over the years about how they hope I can go to a gig/meet Mika just built up so I could have a truly magical night. But I also think Mika is quite magical too. He just makes good things happen. Definitely all my good luck for the rest of my life was used up at once for this gig, considering how easily I could get things to work out for traveling there too when it could of been very complicated.

Thank you, everyone.  I feel so thankful and my heart is full.

I don't know. But there was a careraman on stage so it will be a DVD and not an audio CD.  Anyway there will be something additional to the album and it's great 👍

I've heard it should be both, like Sinfonia Pop (live album and DVD)...

Its definitely going to be both an album and a DVD.

Regarding the live DVD, he mentioned that he just hasn't done one in a long time.

    Thanks for your reports! :flowers2:

I don't understand though why Mika said he hadn't released a live album before... ok maybe Live at Saddler's Wells doesn't count, as it's just CD2 of a deluxe edition. But what about the live album of his Montreal gig? In Europe I think it also was a deluxe version of NPIH, but in Canada it was a separate album.

He said that it's different, because the Montreal one was with an orchestra and this is just a normal show audio wise with the music that sounds more like to what he releases.

    LIVE ALBUM and DVD !!!!

    Awwwww can't wait it :fangurl:

It's going to fantastic, because the set and the new songs he really fabricated into emotions and stories that everyone can relate to in the banter and things he said before playing them. He was also wild onstage, and it was practically a rave during Love Today (?) and We Are Golden because the crowd was just as wild and loving every minute of it.

  5. My first gig! I guess I picked a killer one too. All the lovely people I met said Mika just had so much extra energy tonight and it was definitely for the live DVD. I was in the front row so I was definitely filmed for that, look out guys... :aah:

I have never been to such an incredible show. Like it not just because I love Mika so much, he just put on such a great performance and the crowd echoed the energy right back. It was ecstatic. It was more than I was hoping for.

I was a complete mixture of emotions all day, and it all came to a boiling point when Mika came to the stage door greet some of us. There were probably 100 people outside and I knew I probably wouldn't get to see him because I was nowhere near the front. I eventually manuvered myself to the second row of an area where it wasn't as congested, but it didn't seem hopeful and I understood that. I started crying because he was just like... There and a moment I couldn't even dream of happening when I was so much younger was literally like unfolding before my eyes. I also think I am a little emotionally unstable right now because I'm just struggling with mental health issues too. But that's another reason why Mika and his music mean so much to me, its helped me pull through the absolute hell I've had to go through through the years to even get to where I am today and be the person I am today. It's just something you cannot thank someone enough for.

The fact that I was crying caught some people around me's attention (I think they were Italian, if you see this thank you! I was too much of a mess to remember that) and they successful grabbed Mika's attention and pointed at me. Mika walks up to me and asks "now, why are you crying?" And I start rambling like the crazy lady I am, I think he was a little taken aback by it but whatever, and tell him pretty much I've been a fan for a long time and I want to thank him for his music because it got me through so much and I'm sorry because you probably hear this a lot. At this point I'm sobbing, he's looking at me like he doesn't know what to say or do and thinking wow I really need new antidepressants because these don't stabilize mood at all anymore. He says something along the lines of that's very sweet and I go in for a hug and then I hear an audible "awww" from the immediate crowd around us. It was so incredible. I'm just to blessed to have had that opportunity to speak with him and tell him that because... How many people get to thank their favorite musician or someone inspiring for them? Thank you, Mika. I'm sorry if I scared you.

Here is my Google album from the gig, please enjoy. I filmed quite a few songs that are in here too.

  6. I will post a more in depth review and pictures and videos tomorrow, but I wanted to say 2 things on here tonight.

    1. This gig was recorded for a live album and DVD. Look forward to it!

    2. On a personal note, I got to meet Mika and it was a really incredible experience. I'm very emotional right now and I'm still letting it all sink in.

Excellent gig, will do a full report tomorrow.

I think I'll see you there, Dee -- hopefully both gigs!

Whenever I go to Kohl's or Target I hear Popular. :teehee:

And I don't just think it's the gay community  -- I think it's just in these big cities more people are exposed to a wider range of music, so are more likely to have heard of Mika. I know in my parents town, all the radio stations are either "classic rock", "oldies" or country & western. That's literally all the majority of the people there know.

I'm actually surprised Mika's not going to Miami -- I mean, he even has a house there! But I agree a Chicago date would have been nice, especially for the fans who are in the middle of the country who could travel a little bit to see him.

Population is another big factor too, you're right. The music scene will be more diverse.

Miami would be a great spot for a show, I would of considered going there too. Again, big gay community and diverse music scene.

Anyway, got my ticket! My first gig.. :mf_lustslow:

I guess the travel involved will mean a lot of fans won't be able to go to any of these gigs.  It's a pity he couldn't have found one mid-west venue.

Yeah, i'm bummed about that too. Not even Chicago :(

It really seems that shows here were an afterthought, and that's maybe why a show in Chicago didn't work out. Understandably, as not many people here listen to Mika. I think honestly its mostly the gay community who are Mika fans and they are very prominent in NYC, LA and SF so those gigs make a lot of sense to me.

Whenever I go to a gay bar, they always play a Mika song... even then, its usually LICM era. :lmfao:

Also in 2013 he managed that the 2 new songs he played didn't get spread all over the web. Same for the OSM concerts. Yes, there were/are recordings online, but you need/ed to know exactly what to look for, to find them.

That was in the US / Canada tho. Not sure they are that strict in Mexico, about taking cameras or using mobiles. Maybe that's why it's the last gig. :teehee:

Anyway he said there'll be more than 1 single before the album is out, so I suppose you'll get at least 3 songs of the new album. Ice cream, 2 new singles, and probably 1-2 more songs from the album. He often played songs at gigs before he released them, like Underwater, BIOTG, Good Wife...

I had a friend who went to one of these shows, and although she enjoyed it a lot she felt like she was missing the whole experience since it was only an acoustic set. It's understandable when you're seeing an acoustic set from an artist that has a primary pop/produced sound. I had this feeling when I saw an acoustic show of Marina (and the Diamonds) a day before I went to her fully-fledged concert, it's just kind of missing a bit of something.. not that it has it's own interesting flair to it. It's just that you know what you're missing.

hmm, i've never heard of this practice of giving albums w/ tickets before. Thanks for explaining.  I'd prefer to buy the album myself and just have cheaper gig tickets :annoyed_h4h:

"I'm going to buy a ticket and worry about the logistics later." I think I'm gonna have to do this too. One day is not enough time to plot!

It's an odd one. I don't think the ticket prices are affected that much and its just a way to boost the "sales" of the album by making them cheaper and people are more likely to claim it when its bundled with a concert ticket. I think its a practice that started due to the rise of music streaming services, like Spotify, people are less likely to actually buy an album. I'm just speculating though, I don't have that much insight into the music business today but I know from taking a history class on it that this would be pretty likely.

I know right? I'm just lucky that I don't have many classes this semester with in-classroom instruction and I have family I can bum with in the area. I think I can make it work.

He's done this before. In NYC last time he played Good Wife before any of us heard it. And in Montreal at the orchestra concerts he played a few songs we hadn't heard yet.

This has become a standard practice for tours promoting albums in recent years, I've gotten tickets to two different artists this year and each has come with their a physical or digital copy of the album.

In other news, if you've been following my 9 year saga of never seeing Mika live; I think this is going to be it. I think I'm going to be able to go to the New York show. I'm going to buy a ticket and worry about the logistics later.

We thought of lots of names when we were getting a puppy.  But when we got him home, none of the names seemed "right"  .  I think we must have had him for a month before the right name occurred to us.  And now I can't imagine him being called anything else.

So my advice is, wait until you actually have your girl before you name her :naughty:

That's what my mom told me :fisch:

I think that's what will end up happening anyway, but I'm just very excited to get her and worried about not being able to pick out a good name. A nice thing about the breeder is that he will give us updates on our pup and let us know what kind of personality she has too before we even get her, so I think that will help as well. But I definitely agree with you.

Amazing news! I would also love to have a dog!  But my parents aren't into dogs. We have some cats which I also love dearly, but well, I adore Golden Retrievers (yes, even before I knew that Mika likes them, too :naughty:) and I would enjoy to have one on my own.

Anyway, Mika could be a possible name in my opinion. :biggrin2: Even for a female dog.

My parents aren't into dogs either.. I grew up with cats and my parents have cats even now, but they were always more attached to my parents because that'd who would feed them the most...  But I've been lucky to have pretty nice and affectionate cats as pets. I hope you can get a dog in the future, too! But they are a lot of work so it's understandable.

I love Golden Retrievers too, just talk about a type of dog that will always put a smile on your face. I had a teacher who had a very big Golden that he would bring to class when I was in high school. He was an old dog so he was so relaxed, and had a bed in the class where he would sleep! Sometimes I would walk him for my teacher and it was more like the dog would walk me because he was almost 100 lbs! (a VERY big Golden, he must of been a mix but I don't know what). We live in an apartment so they are too big of a dog for us right now. They also really need a yard to run around and lots of space, they are very active!

It would be such a cute name! I keep leaning towards names of singers I like too that I think would be a good dog name; like Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton or Judy Garland. Her full name would be like "Stevie Nicks" but then I would just call her Stevie... :mf_rosetinted:

  14. I'm so excited to say that after years of wanting a dog that soon my boyfriend and I will be getting a French Spaniel puppy. I have never had a dog before so I'm incredibly happy to have a animal that is truly my own. :wub2:

I've thought of a few names (we are getting a girl) and my boyfriend didn't oppose to Mika as an option LOL, but let's see.

  15. So, this has always been on the back of my mind. I don't particularly like the fact that Love You When I'm Drunk is at the beginning of every single vlog of the Youtuber David Dobrik. If you aren't aware, here is one of his vlogs to show you. You don't have to watch very much, the intro will play and you will know what I'm talking about.

He has had that intro for all of his vlogs, and he does not have to and never does (at least I haven't seen it) credit Mika for the song because of how short the clip is and that's how Youtube copyright works. I think that for how much he has used this clip (4 years of vlogs, uploading multiple times a week) in his videos, not mentioning Mika or having to pay royalties because of how copyright works on Youtube is lame. It's disappointing to a long time fan like me who got really excited when I first heard it, but I think there are a lot of people who don't think twice about the song because it is not listed in the description and it is difficult for them to find; which is not a good thing for Mika when a popular Youtuber like David Dobrik is constantly using his song.

Let me know what you guys think, I'm interested.

Can we talk about bully stories in here? I found this thread new

    Hey there :bye:

I would suggest talking about a personal story in a thread under General Chat, maybe a Member's Only thread so not just anyone on the internet can read it. :sweatdrop: This section of the forum is for things pertaining to MFC specifically so we can move a conversation like that elsewhere very easily! Just pick a thread, honestly. The Oldlings are very chatty, but that doesn't mean you can't post on any other thread and someone won't reply, lol.

It's Europe tour? What about other countries

Typically, artists will announce one leg or part of a tour at a time. Right now Mika is about to announce his Europe part of his tour, but he will probably be going elsewhere too. So just stay tuned and be patient!

I think we can be sure of the London date because it's also on the official O2 Shepherd's Bush website... ticket sale from 7th june 9am according to them

This is a good point too... If you see a rumored date also check the official venue's website! Smart thinking :wink2:

  19. There are also events already made by the concert venues on Facebook if you look up Mika then select the 'event' section. I can't really list them all now because I'm on my phone. There are a few in Switzerland, they have some of the France dates there and a couple more. I would expect more dates to pop up on Facebook at the day goes on.
