  1. Very moving to see Mika shed a tear while watching a video of his singing teacher.
  2. Love both the song and the video. This piece is sublime. Three minutes looking at him in the eye, the viewer can't help feeling some kind of emotion (up to you what it is), it's part of our human nature. One can even hear and see him breathing. I feel like reaching him out when he invites us to wrap our arms around everybody. The orchestral arrangements are outstanding and really effective. Love how it ends, Mika leaving the room silently and the emotion lingering on.
  3. Could it be that the lyrics make reference to climate change? The mercury that rises so fast (in global thermometers)... The party has been going on for too long, and not everybody has been invited (ordinary people and developing nations). It may be too late now... Excellent song!
  4. Walk through the city like normal people do... but all I'm seeing is you ! (Allegory in the Paris landscape).
  5. I feel like watching a horror movie, knowing that sooner or later the nice but naïve guy (this song) is going to be eaten by the monster (the press, the music critics, the bloggers, and the public humiliation/indifference). I have no experience at all, but I can't imagine by what means this single can be taken seriously. Nice lyrics, amazing voice, but zero originality! The "influences" sound better. Right, artists need to find a balance between what they love to do and what the world will pay them to do. But is this what the world wants Mika to do?! Who are his advisers? Seriously, Mika needs to explain publicly the genesis of this piece, ASAP!
  6. Well, it's a good thing that Mika acknowledges the "influence" of Italian songwriters. At least he won't be sued for this song.
  7. Mixed feelings… I don't know anything about pop music but this single shamelessly reminds me of an Italian song my parents used to listen when I was a child in the 1980’s: Sarà perché ti amo (Ricchi e poveri). I know this is just pop music but I was expecting something more complex, more layered. Even Taylor Swift’s "Shake it off" (or something like that, which I have just discovered) sounds less simplistic to my ear (and to my brain!). Looking forward to listening the whole opus.
  8. Bonjour ! Alex

By the way, is anyone attending the TV program "Le Divan" on April 10th ? I've just got the invitation by e-mail. Will be my first contact ever with TV recordings/pop-music industry. I have no idea whether it's worth attending. Any advise?

Hola! I'm Mexican but I've been living abroad in different places for almost half of my life.

Hi Kezza, I would've killed to be in your shoes in Montreal, hihihi. I still don't know France very well and Mika's gigs seem like a good excuse to visit around: vineyards in Burgundy and the beautiful Atlantic coast near La Rochelle. It's so tempting!

I'm just finding out something that appeals me: you travel the world to attend Mika's gigs. That a great idea! I'm loving this.

Thanks! I love that old version of "Overrated". I was so upset for not being in Montreal in February (I lived there for many years).

Hello, hola, bonjour! Becoming a member of the MFC is the most improbable thing I’ve done in years! My love affair with Mika’s work started two months ago, when I discovered his music totally by accident. This past January, I was going through a low-motivation period at work and in life in general when one Saturday evening I turned the TV on and my brain off for an evening of junk culture: France’s The Voice. I had no idea who the judges were because France is not my native country. Moreover, I’d been avoiding pop music since I was a teenager (pop music was not good enough for my intellectual aspirations, ahahah). The flamboyant guy with the foreign accent caught my attention. I found him delightful and wanted to know more about this Mee-ka. It all started there. Now, Mika’s albums are an essential part of my collection, between Malher and Monteverdi. His music and shows are as fascinating as an opera. And, well, he’s just delightful. By the way, his music has completely changed my mood. Just relax, take easy, and dance! So, in exchange, I wanted to show my support somehow, by becoming a member of this group. I’m looking forward to seeing him live. The videos made available by his fans capture incredible moments. My favourites are: Origin of Love in Heaven, when he says “this is my statement and my thank you to the man I love”; Blame it on the weather, with Ida, in Seoul; Stardust acoustic in a synagogue in the USA; and Happy ending at Parc des Princes.
