jengafer
Classic children's names conveying style and elegance top this year's favourites As legends of the silver screen their names conjure up images of glamour, success and beauty. So perhaps it's no great surprise that this year's list of Britain's most popular baby names reads like a roll call of Hollywood greats. The enduring appeal of the cinema is more evident than ever this year as parents look for names with star appeal. Sitting at the top of the list for girls is Grace - perhaps inspired by the legendary Grace Kelly. Other favourites include Mia and Olivia - proof that stars like Mia Farrow and Olivia de Havilland still capture the imagination. Even TV presenter Myleene Klass chose Ava, a classic Hollywood name, for her daughter, born in August. Grace - which is taken from the saying Grace of God - pushed the 2006 favourite Sophie into sixth place, according to the survey by the baby parenting club Bounty. The fastest rising girls' name in 2007 was Ruby, which moved up from 12 in 2006 to two in 2007. Ruby was given a boost by Charlotte Church who picked the name for her daughter, born in September. Jack held the top slot in the boys' list for the 13th year running, with Charlie second. Top 20: 'Trendy' names have been dropped in favour of traditional choices Among other names popularised by Hollywood this year include Daniel, from James Bond star Daniel Craig and Alfie from the film of the same, remade recently with Jude Law. Faye Mingo, marketing director of Bounty, said: "Parents are taking their inspiration from quite glamorous sources like Hollywood actors and actresses who have names that convey style and elegance." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=502567&in_page_id=1770 the boys list is just like my sons class register:biggrin2:
