There wasn't any thread dedicated to Janis! *slaps herself* In case anybody's (specially the younglings) asking "who?" here's a (very) little intro about her: Janis Joplin (1943-1970) was an American blues/rock singer and songwiter, born in Port Arthur (Texas). With an unusual voice for a white woman, and a powerful stage presence, she got famous as the lead singer of the band Big Brother and The Holding Company, and later with a solo career. Her last album, Pearl, was released after her death (due to heroin overdose), and was her best selling album. It's a live album (I bought it in a store that sells a lot of second hand cds and stuff): Janis Joplin with Big Brother and The Holding Company Live at Winterland 1968.
