  1. A friend of mine heard Grace Kelly and asked me to check it out... but I was the first of my company to go bananas for that song and, immediately straight-after, for the album. Now I've spread word and a coupla friends of mine enjoy his music too.

  2. What's the point of this ?!

You also have to accept that people can hate Mika not because they are (too) conservative but simply because they hate his music...

And there is nothing to fight for...I mean I don't see the point of what you said about this... Mika was platinum within a few weeks and Grace Kelly is the best selling single of thr year for the moment... I call that a success. When you're successful you get popular but also criticised... Look at Madonna... It's logical because everybody knows him! I'm on TV and I want to make a joke: well i won't make one against someone that is unknown to the viewers...

I couldn't agree more! :) I'm afraid that the worst is yet to come, bad-press-wise.

  3. About the hair thing... I've never thought that 100% natural (of course!) curls could be... erm... be naturally enhanced in such a natural fashion! :D I guess I'll have a talk with my hairdresser, since not having natural curly hair yet!!has always been a complex of mine... :P

  4. Other classical performances of Mika:

Die Frau ohne Schatten (Royal Opera)

    Curlew River (Covent Garden Festival)

    Oliver! (Palladium)

    Warchild (National Youth Music Theatre)

Oy! I guess you already answered my question! :( sadly, no Puccini and no chance to hear him sing in my own language!

  5. Thank you kristin for bringing this to attention! :D I always wondered if any of these recordings of his opera days existed!

I must admit I've never heard of The Pilgrim's Progress... :bleh: I'll try to check it out and fill this gap, however...

Italians do it better! Does anybody know if he ever sung in any italian opera? I would die for anything from Puccini's repertoire!!!

  6. I read again the interview. And I quote:

It's like a Barbra Streisand movie or something. Like in Funny Girl where they write the song 'cos they're angry and it really works out for them.

I can't recall that particular episode in that movie. Isn't he talking about Funny Lady instead?

  7. I agree with those who say Willy Wonka!

I think he'd be terrific as Reb Motel in Fiddler on the Roof (the skinny penniless taylor who eventually marries Tzeitel)! :)

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, God took a Daniel once again...

  8. No, I haven't. Unless you count that one time where he was on the stage and I was in the public! lol

Anyway, last night I dreamt I had a meet&greet with him after a concert held inside a church. If that was a premonition, I guess my chances for meeting him are quite dim... :P

  9. i was away from pc most of the day and now i'm reading all this...

i read the article after having scanned it and after having sent it to Avoca: when at last i read it, it was like a shock: i'd never thought it could be such a rubbish....otherwise i would think before posting it!!!

Anyway, the damage's done and now i'm quite happy we posted it, discussion has been lively so far, and very intelligent.

i'm proud of this forum and i 'd like to autocelebrate ourselves: we are exactly the way Mika is, intelligent, ironic, polite and energetic!

No idiot journalist can get us down! (a long as we suck hard on our lollipops..of course:naughty: :roftl::wink2: )

woops... I just realized I thanked only avoca for posting it and not you for scanning it! :$ I hope I can get it right now: THANK YOU, ROBERTINA! :P

  10. but the things she wrote become important to me if she puts these things in a wrong way.i mean, i don't care if a month ago she was in LA with joaquin phoenix...she's a journalist of rolling stone and for this reason she should be professional.just because she doesn't like mika, does she has the right to put him in a bad light?to me, she's been unpolite. i really didn't like the article at all!:mf_rosetinted:

I don't care about Daniel McVicar either... or what her favourite musicians are, for that matter! lol

Do you think we should write down something? We could do it, but I'm not sure it would be effective... :)

Darlene Conley may rest in peace... :°

  11. we should complain with rollin stone x the journalist! she's too presumptuous!

I don't think complaining is the way in this case... if we complain it's a way of saying "the things you wrote are important to me". I think the article speaks for itself, that woman doesn't deserve any attention from us! ;)

  12. matt i agree with you 100%!!!! some journalists shouldn't be called journalists...:sneaky2::thumbdown: and what concern italian press is true! but at least the article on xl was a good one!

Yeah, the article on XL was decent enough. I mean, it doesn't have to be necesserely favourable to Mika and his work, but at least it should show some interest...
