Ouh la y'en a deux qui ont fumé la moquette ! Comment ça va tout le monde? Quand je pense qu'on y est dans deux jours... Pour la météo ils prévoient soleil et 22 degrés vendredi.

For the moment the weather is OK, it's rather heavy actually... Right now I can see clouds gathering, I guess we might get some rain one of those days... Yesterday, it was really warm, even in the evening you'd be in t-shirt. And today is grey... So I actually have not much clue about what to wear at the PDP, so I have decided : - a tee-shirt or blouse - trousers (I've lost a bit of weight so I'm between two sizes, it's pretty bothering ) - a hoodie that I'll tie around my waist (and if it gets cold, I can wear it) - a raincap that I'll have in my pocket, that I can use only once and throw away, in case it rains. I had bought it for London but never used it... That's what I would recommend, cause the problem is that we can't know what the weather will be like in a week...

Eh bien en fait, les pompiers organisent à chaque 14 juillet (pour Paris et sa banlieue, ça dépend de la caserne, c'est soit le 13 soit le 14 au soir) un bal (une soirée où danser quoi). Parfois il y a aussi une tombola. Pour rentrer au bal, tu dois payer un droit d'entrée (quelques euros généralement). Et ces droits d'entrée, tous collectés, servent je crois à la fondation des orphelins de pompiers qui meurent en exercice. Les pompiers sont donc en uniforme pendant le bal, et souvent ça se termine: - avec plein de filles qui essaient de sortir avec un pompier (ah le prestige de l'uniforme ) - les pompiers adorent cette soirée parce qu'ils savent qu'ils ne vont certainement pas finir célibataires - plein de monde plutôt bourré . souvent ça finit par danser sur les tables ou/et le plan de bar... Mais l'ambiance est hyper sympa, tout le monde est cool et a juste envie de s'amuser. On voit souvent les pompiers aux fenêtres avec les jeunes filles en train de danser / se coller / faire des conneries (cotillons, strip-tease etc). Après, il faut tomber dans le "bon" bal des pompiers selon tes goûts (par exemple moi je n'aime pas la musique techno, donc j'évite les bals de pompier techno). Ca marche on en parle à Arras! De toute façon on aura aussi le temps d'en discuter en attendant que le concert commence... Sud d'Harlem, tu vas être bien t'es carrément dans Manhattan! Et Harlem ne craint pas autant que ça j'ai trouvé. Tu verras New York est épuisant, on marche ENORMEMENT (prévoir les baskets les filles!), mais il y a une énergie dingue! Pamette, prévoies plein d'euros pour faire des courses parce que 1) avec le dollar c'est pas cher 2) ils font tout le temps des soldes dingues au niveau fringues chaussures etc. Si tu vas aux bons endroits tu peux refaire ta garde-robe complète pour bien moins cher qu'en France! Et surtout il faut aller faire un tour à Brooklyn les filles, New Yord ne s'arrête pas à Manhattan! Brooklyn est très chouette à découvrir (et marcher sur le pont de Brooklyn au soleil couchant c'est magnifique!).

Well I think Tokyo Hotel saw it too big... Mika's gig is sold out on "pelouse" but there is still availability on seated tickets. I think that the fact that it is a Virgin show with other bands helped fill-in the stadium. I'm not sure he would have sold as much had he been alone with just a support band and no Virgin buzz.

Coucou Guylaine! Je pars dans une demi-heure (et je n'ai quasi rien fait de la journée, honte à moi.... Totalement démotivée en ce moment). On fait la Saint-Jean aussi en France mais ça se perd... Dans quelques villages encore ils font les feux, mais c'est une tradition qui disparait quand même... Ah Pamette faut que tu ailles à un bal de Pompiers le 14 juillet! Ils n'en font pas en Province? J'y étais l'année dernière et c'était du grand n'importe quoi! Mais il faut faire gaffe à quel bal on va: certains sont sympas (genre celui du 10ème l'année dernière, avec groupe qui chantait des reprises très pro et une bonne ambiance décontract un peu bobo 10e d'ailleurs), et d'autres sont too much (celui du 6ème était un cauchemar, victime de son succès y'avait tellement de monde il fallait attendre au moins deux heures pour rentrer, et ce n'était que de la techno ou des trucs hyper dance, pas ma tasse de thé. On avait l'impression d'étouffer tellement il y avait de monde. Par contre on a eu droit à un strip-tease des pompiers assez marrant ). Quand à New-York, tu vas A-DO-RER! Tu vas t'en prendre plein la figure tu vas voir! J'y ai été deux fois, n'hésites pas à me demander si tu as des questions!

Actually it's really something I would like to know, after the concert: Mika, how and in which state did you go before / through this. I, myself, would sh*t in my pants. Litterally.

Big change and scary... He's got to be freaking out a minimum (to say the least)! Even if he has 3 support bands, people mainly came to see HIM ! He's gotta feel a lot of pressure with this. So will the band and everybody else actually. Can't afford to mess up anything. *Bridget Jones voice*: Mika, over to you, have you been sleep OK at night lately?

Same for me Robertina ! Actually when I lived in London I started to lose my French... Since then, I have problems with my French sometimes, the vocabulary sometimes does not want to come, the English word often comes instead of the French one..

Yes that's the thing, when I travel I still can practice it, and I still have a few friends abroad with whom I write/talk in English. And working with international people helps though, even if the vocabulary is always the same. And I have the same problem as yours: I learnt latin and Spanish at school but I lost most of what I had learnt. When I go to Spain I can manage to understand some main lines but can't speak (only a few words / sentences - still can manage for a beer and tapas though ).

Ah that's an interesting thread! Thank you for it! I started learning English at school at the age of 11. At the age at 23/24 I went to London to learn English (it was an old dream I always had - as my family never traveled abroad I kept dreaming about going to other countries and meeting people talking other languages). I thought my English was not so bad but I realised when I arrived that I just could not express myself / understand people . It took me a while to have my ear accustomed to the language. After a year, I came back to Paris, where I found a job where English was demanded (so I still could practice it). 5 years later I had an opportunity to work for an American family for a year, being half the time in Paris, half the time in Detroit. So off I went! And discovered how American could be different from English. Now I still live in Paris, I keep reading in English to try to keep it, my work is 80% in English (I work with expats who speak very little / no French). It's awful though to see how your vocabulary/grammar can fade away . Practicing English at work is not enough to keep it (you always use the same vocabulary). My family does not speak it (well my father and my brother very little, and you should hear my mother when she tries to pronounce "Desperate Housewives" , she's not even able to remember Hello and Thank you!). French education is not really great at teaching languages (as many know ). But more and more French people travel / have to learn English for work, so little by little it's getting better. Now you can find people in Paris who will help you !
