  1. Well, am home now and have a bad case of the post gig blues.

Let's start at the very beginning...

Monday morning I high tailed it to Debenhams and had my very clever friend on Yves Saint Laurent do my make up (comes in very handy working in cosmetics!).

Asked her to use turquoise and purple (MFC colours hehe) and get some glitter and lashes in there and she did a fabby job.

Then met Sharon at the train station and we started our journey. The first train took us to Darlington then we got the next one to take us the rest of the way and this is where the fun started.

We had bags and bags of the party bag goodies with us so started to work on them, although we had a table there were also other passengers sat at it and we did get a few funny looks as we started the production line. The lollipop, streamers and bubbles went in the paper cup, which then went in a bag with the mask and a glow stick and on to the next one... 1.5 hours and 100 party bags later we arrived at Edinburgh.

A short taxi ride later and we were ar the Picture House yay!! Took the many bags and got Freddie, Shoni and her lovely sister to add the blowers, balloons and instructions and off we toddled to check in to the Travellodge.

After checking in we walked back to the venue and it rained and rained and rained ...

Well done so much with the party bags!!

I remember Luke telling Me Mama P was so pleased and to pass on the message down the line ..which we did:thumb_yello:

I did my best and i know he spoke to me and Ingie saying what are u doing when we blew the party blowers!!:naughty:

    In video form Edinburgh blog

I got home on South Coast a few hours ago.

It was one amazing night!!! I am still excited. Infact, too excited to sleep.

I have FOUR dreams have come true!!!

    1) meeting (not seeing!) Mika first time - tick!

    2) get an autograph at meet and greet - tick!

    3) Mika ate my strawberry sweets - tick!

    4) the first time wearing wedding dress (which I missed on my wedding day) - Unexpectedly tick!

As this was just the second gig I managed to come (In my mind, this was almost the first one, as I was with my hub and had to rush back to get home to pick up kids from friend's house...no pressie, no m&g last time.), I wanted to enjoy the event (not only gig) to every bits. and So did I!

I arrived at the venue around 10am, but waiting was very enjoyable experience. Getting wet... Never mind, can I say it's because of being in Scotland???

I was soooo happy to see and have a chat with a lot of MFC members!

I am not good at remembering names, so if you don't mind, please write me whoever talked to me on the day. Sorry.

Everyone is so sweet and kind. You surely made this night unforgettable!

Sorry at the end, but I want to say a special thanks to those who made effort to prepare T-shirts, party bags and arm bands. They are brilliant and going into my treasure drawers (keeping off from my kids!!!).

    xxx

I'm so gald you had a good tme!!

    I remember your t shirt!!

glad you liked the bands too x:thumb_yello:

Such a fun fun gig , does it always rain so heavy when Mika plays Scotland btw? seems to be a tradition :roftl:

So cool little venue , the levels of balconies seemed to go on forever with a smallish standing area, the crowd behind the fanclub seemed to take a good few songs to wake up then it was rocking :biggrin2:

2nd row back with a great view , was an amazing time I must say and one of the most "fun" gigs I've done , really cool vibe and seeing the band (and the Scottish members) so into it.

Kinda a farewell show though , I was thinking awwwww when will he be back and hoping it would not be agessss away:biggrin2:

I hope it's not long FD! I need more already ....:aah:

Great 1st one with link to video but 2nd one seems to Feb Glasgow gig for me!:blush-anim-cl:

I'm checking out the local papersw today too.

Thanks for your review Rose, great to have you all as i say and thanks Sari for more videos!!!!

  2. I keep remembering things that happened!

I better write some bits down ...

my weekend was MFC awesome as i had the pleasure of the company of 7 of the people staying with me ...i'd have had you all if i could ..so next time Mika comes to Edinburgh you have to ALL stay with me in my new castle!!:aah:

The q i've said was brill organised .... rain could not be helped it was a shame as we've had nice weather of late but Mika and his rain rain rain!!

The venue is great ..low stage ..not big barrier ... it used to be a club called Century 2000 and then Revolution so it's not that long a gig venue but i'm pleased Edinburgh has this new one .... it seemed to suit the gig well.

I had some friends and my hub there so it was extra special for me and the day in the Q passed very quick ...

Jazzy got her sewing circle orgnaised and it was good to be able to wander about and use the lobby ..i really could not stand still much of the time i was so buzzy .... The Mc Tee's were great Jazzy, well done again .. i used up my nervous energy by calling people for their T's and seilling the wristbands we had made ... think they were quite good?

The gig was really great ...i'm not sure about technically but i was having such fun with everyone i just loved it and was feeling so in to the groove i couldn't stop dancing with Ingie!!! Sheena and her boy were lots of fun too and Robi i hope we weren't a pain! lots of other lovely people too were everywhere .. i think MFC had front row covered and lots of 2nd too.

I've seen Peral and Puppets support Keane before and they seemed to fly by .. we had fun with the drummer i think with banter!:teehee:

Neil ( hub) came down to say hi to me and my pals Jen and Brian who'd come along which was nice and they went back to enjoy the MIKA experience form the back and said it was an amazing show ..this was Neil's 1st time but i really wanted him to exp what we all do and share the vibe ...he did enjoy it ...

oh i forgot the gifts ...

We saw the band arrive in the afternoon at the stage door is at the front of the venue so we managed to speak to Cherrise and she was her usual sweet self and we handed over the gift bags we'd prepared from Edinburgh and Jazzy gave the band their T's! They all seemed pleased and Mama P and John were handed theirs perosnally too...( gifts not T's!) John was nice and said we really shouldn't do it but when i said we appreciated his help and all he said he appreciated us too which i thought was nice:biggrin2: So he was happy i think. ( it was just some local gits, tablet, shortbread ... a nip glass etc!)

I'm glad people were mostly picked who wanted to be for stage tho i'm sorry for sosi .... it wasn't so good but i know you had a great gig in the end:thumb_yello:

We would have done a 2nd time but mama p was pretty strict that if you had done it before ( even once) then she didn't want you to do it again ... fair doo's. I'm actually pleased that maybe i didn't in the end as i was so happy dancing away :biggrin2:

I'm goona have to do part 3 tomorrow ..RL work and all is calling and so is my bed ..i've hardly slept this weekend .... you prob need a break from this too now!!

    see you soon:thumb_yello:

  3. Hey, there was a big queue for the male toilet! :wink2:

Fortunately i used the female one :naughty:

Since i'm quite stupid and sentimental i thought that this gig could be different from the others, in particular more acoustic because the intimate venue and because the Fringe Festival atmosphere. I was wrong! Anyway the gig was great as usual.

It seems that M sips his pearls.

He does not sing anymore the intro of We are golden but he sings a touching final of Happy ending.

I started queue very early at 2 pm but i'm happy about this because we were in good company. Thanks to all for this funny afternoon despite the rain.

Probably M thinks i was rude.

I forgot to tell him i enjoyed his gig but i told him that Beirut's gig (the day before in the same venue) was special.*:punk:

I'm in love with Edinburgh and i will return there sooner or later.

    :bye:

    Edinburgh wants you back!! :wink2:

It was great to see you again and thank you i have your special balloon ...how lovely .. i will post it later ..Allegra drew the gig on a small ballon ... she is another clever one:wink2:

  4. yeah well i was going to bring up your antics but i thought i`d leave that up to you :wink2:

basically me n vicky had a tipple ..... i think she did that to distract me so she could molest my son :roftl:

    EH! no ..... !!:sneaky2:

tipple was it!! Well we had to keep up oor drunken Scots reputation didn't we!

    :scot:

TBH i never drank THAT much i was just very hyper and not eaten much all day ...it were me nerves!!:aah:

  5. I really enjoyed the whole thing, despite being soaked by the time we were finally let in :badmood:

I wasn't originally going to go the pre-gig meet up, but I was glad I did, as we enjoyed a pleasant drink in the warm non-rainy Edinburgh air, and it was nice to actually meet so many of the people I have been chatting to for the last few months.

In a way, it's all these extra things we do outside of Mika gigs which makes the MFC such a great fanclub to belong to :group_hug:

I think the weather could have been better, but considering the hours we spent queuing (the longest I have done), the time really passed quite quickly. Again, I got to meet new friends (Hi Alice - I wish I could speak French) and to see people I hadn't seen for ages like Wendi and Robi and Deb.

I'm glad you came after i persuaded you:wink2:

It is nice to meet up on non gig days too and this was extra special for me of course being home but i think we took over The Last Drop outside area pretty well!!:teehee:

I'm sorry not all people were there, but it was fun :wub2:

  6. I had to call you Vicky as I couldn't spot you initially............you are just too wee these days :naughty:

So you did!! I forgot ...quite a blur some of last night!!:teehee:

i guess my post wants a place after yours kath! :

the gig was SO GOOD as always, Mika never disappoint us, does he?

I was second row behind Vicky and Ingie and OH MY!! they WERE screaming!

    those fans!

i enjoyed the gig, i had a lot of space around me (strange isn't it...and i don't even smell!) and i could dance a lot, no pushing at all (but not jump...dammed knee :

Mika was sweet as always at the M&G outside, and i was my naughty self :

R.: you know i love you, right? you know that?

M.: yes, true (funny face pretending to be scared of the following question)

R.: so....why Sweet Dreams AGAIN and not One Foot Boy or Pick up off the floor just for a change? :

    M.: (smiling) mmmmmmm...next time

    R.: there WON'T be a next time!

    M.: there's always a next time! :

    damned Mika!!! :s

but you KNOW i love you, right? :

    anyway

the absolute bonus of this gig was meeting people i haven't met for AGES!

Deb and Wendi were the cherries on top, the cake being all the rest of fans i know, so many of them gathered at the same gig! :wub2:

I'm so happy i went, the memory will accompany me for months!

Lovely to see you and the wonderful and charming Allegra!! So much i love you too:wub2: I hope we didn't bother u too much screaming and dancing!!

    I was a bit hyper i admit!

ops i posted too late :naughty:

    @vicky

your sandwiches saved our midnight dinner!

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I am soooo glad you took them!!

That had been the MFC breakfast and edinburgh picnic ..no need to waste it :-D:naughty:

reports hmmm im not that great at that stuff unless its full of swear words soooo ..... arrived @ edinburgh on sunday afternoon , sweet talked our wee gay recepionist to put our crap in room then headed off into the toon (christ those hills were a killer) laughed at tourists (has to be done) got bashed in the back with tourist`s babies... met up with vicky & co then watched some really bad street acts ! round about 6ish we headed off to see janey godley which cameron found hilarious maybe because all she did was talk about sex & swear .... afterward we met up with the nutters again :wink2: next morning me , bubbles , luke & cameron headed to the venue in the pissing rain & met with the others ... i was dreading having to wait so long for those bloody doors to open but david & cameron kept us all amused for a while so it wasnt so bad , btw im all for hiring cameron out to you all for future gigs for a reasonable rate :naughty: so to round it off ... gig - best so far , camera - got some good pics until it broke down & died , outside - t-shirt signed + cameron got a hug from mika , afterwards we said our goodbyes ... slept .... now im back in glasgow & wishing i could turn back time :( until the next time

Sheena we had fun there in the fronmt dancing and yer boy is some laddy!!

    My new BF!!:teehee:

I think the great thin is we don't all need to be the same just have a laugh and yesterday was fun and funny!!

yeah it was fab :thumb_yello: ive taken cameron to quite a few gigs in the past & he said this was the best he`s been to so far !

Well of course ..... look who he was with!:teehee:

Thank you so much for all reports and pics and Sara´s vids, I love them.

But where are Rose or Jazzy, a lot of us want to hear about the Birthday present so badly. How did it go....., pleeeeeaaase

By rights Jazzy should be exhausted after organising all the lovely tshirts- but she's young, so I don't know why she's not on here yet- unless she booked late transport to fit some sightseeing in or something

Rose is back soon i think and Jazzy is still in Edinburgh ...we will meet for lunch tomorrow ... she is still festivaling!!

The book was presented and Ingie VV awesome has it recorded ..it was great, he was ages chatting to them about it.

It will appear in a day or two i'm sure

THANK YOU!!! i'm in love with his voice here ..x

  7. Ok here goes for my first ever report. It was a really fun day to start with me and shoni were having trouble finding the place when we heard a voice shouting on shoni ! It was rose to the rescue and she pointed us in the right direction. (thanks rose x). We arrived and got our numbers 45+46. Met a few new faces for us it was great to finally put faces to names also a familiar face was oor sheena and her boy cameron who was lovely (credit to you sheena). We got busy helping to fill the party bags with freddie and others we got them all done quite quickly before the rain came on and boy did it rain. Poor soaring simpson was soaked but kept up good spirits (great to meet you btw). Eventuallu mama p came out to find lollipop girls and big girls but she was looking for people who had never done it before but as she walked back down the queue she saw me and smiled and i said we had already been big girls and she said she rememberd us from glasgow and would we like to do it again, well we had to think for a least half a second before deciding Hell Yeah! Yes venue was very small but intimate which was nice. Couldnt believe mama p asked me and shoni to go on just the 2 of us with mika for big girl OMG! She asked if we could maybe make up a wee routine or something to do together and we said yes but when we got out there we just forgot all we had practised (all of 5 mins:roftl:) and just enjoyed it. The rest of the boys and girls were all great Gayvid is just mental and luke was a gem we all had a great time dancing about at the side of the stage so we got to see all of the show nearly! At the end we were all told to wait then john came out and asked for just one persons camera as there would only be one pic taken. Mika came out and said we were the best there had been all tour !! Got our pic taken then a few words then that was it but a great night was had by all. Ok thats my rambling over now got to get back to reality now

I'm really glad it worked out well for you!!!

Was great for you both...and well done making up the party bags too ...i just got a bit lost at bits , he he!:naughty:

Back now dudes! It was awesome. So awesome I cried a tiny bit and when he came on the stage, I could scream. Epic man.

When i met mika, my mum thought she was filming me and him meeting each other, but she wasnt recording :'( So does anyone have a video of a girl with a furry hat with horns kinda small, black coat, cos that is me, and i really wanna see what my face was like when i met him.

I shall do a report later, and just incase you were wandering, I did get in!!!!

I'm so glad as we never saw you before we went in!!

Great to see you on sunday takin in the fire festival at the fringe!!:teehee:

Sorry we never saw you much after but so glad you had a blast and say hi to your mum :-D

hello... i'm back home. i will put it all into a small report. well, we got there at 11 i think. still early enough to get a place under the roof, which was good, the weather wasn't on our side yesterday. well Qing was funny. better said, we tried to make the most fun out of it as far as possible. sometime, it just started raining again and i just wanted to get inside. people got picked for the show about 15 minutes before they opened the doors. was choosen as a dude. and just when we were choosen, it stopped raining. nice. well, we did fittings, the walk. really quick, not really time left. but it all went well. the stage was really small. and the venue itself was just small. i liked it. the stage wasn't high either. was really happy for all my freaks who got front row. such a good view. i was standing at the side all the time. still a good view. i really liked the show. it all went well on stage. at some point, i almost fell off, but i just grabbed people and continued dancing. it was funnnnn. too tired to write more. bring on the photos and videos ya'll!

    x

It was great to hang out with you and i'm so glad it owrked out for you and the boys !!:wink2: AWESOME as @Ingievv says ...babeh

You were absolutely legendary on stage for Lollipop with your crazy dance Mika was just looking at you like you were totally nuts, hahahaha. It was very funny.

Anyway, re vids, I didn't take many and they are still uploading, so here is what I got so far:

Mika - Big Girl @ The HMV Picture House in Edinburgh 23 August 2010

Mika - Blue Eyes @ The HMV Picture House in Edinburgh 23 August 2010

Mika - Touches You @ The HMV Picture House in Edinburgh 23 August 2010

A few more coming soon so keep an eye on my channel. I filmed the procession (albeit a bit late starting) but I didn't think of doing Lollipop, so I hpe that someone else did because it was great fun.

Great, have commented on YT and watched with joy seeing Mika in Edinburgh:biggrin2:

    Great pic

Eloise.............I don't know how I managed to miss you anyway............and especailly when I read that you were on the same balcony as me :roftl: God, I get more Oldling everyday.

It was lovely to see so many people, friends old and new. Like Deb, I think it is possibly safer to avoid naming names as I am sure to miss someone but it was lovely anyway.

I thought that I would be sad as we don't know how long it will be to the next gig, but I wasn't really, I just enjoyed it.

It was a great gig, Mika seemed to be really enjoying it and gave his all as ever. It was indeed a lovely smallish venue. I was with Wendi up on the very top balcony. The plus point to this was that the bar was up there.......the bad (and rather strange) point being that the wheelchair accessible toilet was on the lower floor When we went down there we were right in the 'backstage' area - although it wasn't technically behind the stage. I felt a bit like an intruder as I was standing with Wendi's wheelchair outside the loo as I was looking directly into the room where the band etc were having dinner.

The view from the balcony was really good. Disabled facilities do vary a lot from venue to venue. With the exception of the loo being on the wrong floor and the lift being something from two centuries ago, this was a good one. It was really interesting to be in our position up there a few minutes before the doors opened as we were able to watch everyone come in. We had great fun MFC spotting. Abby and Hazel (Wendi's daughter) had a great spot, 2nd row, dead central and we were able to wave regularly at them.

Thank you so much to everyone that did the party bags....it looked great fun from where we were We joined in with our bags from the balcony although we didn't throw our paper cups as I think we might have got into trouble.:naughty: If someone would like to pm me with details of who to give some money to to contribute to the costs I would be most grateful. I tried to pay before hand but no one seemed to know who I should pay .

Thank you also to Jazzy and everyone else who helped with the T shirts. I thought they were brilliant.

And the wrist bands. I have conducted two interviews at work today with my 'Mika@Edinburgh Fringe' wristband on :naughty:

MFCers on the stage - you were all brilliant - well done! Shoni - you and your sister were great!

What a shame Sosi...........I was trying to get to ask you why you hadn't been picked but I was trapped into the line. What a pain. Glad you enjoyed the gig anyway. I spotted that you were on the front row from my vantage point.

I am glad also that the numbering system went well...........it isn't a difficult concept rreally is it if the security staff will take it on board.

Finally I would like to say a liitle bit about Cara, a young lady that Wendi and I met on the balcony. I don't think that Cara is an MFCer but I have her email address and when I write to her I will give her the link in case she doesn't have it. Cara is one of the most inspireing people I have ever met. Despite being up aganst some of the most difficult physical challenges that it would be possible to imagine she had the most amazing spirit and character. She is 18 years old tomorrow (Wednesday) and is going to Edinburgh Uni to study Biology ( I think it was biology anyway) She had a brilliantly clever wheelchair with a hydraulic platform  She REALLY enjoyed the show - her first time seeing Mika.

I REALLY enjoyed yesterday. Thanks to everyone.

Great report Kath too and it was fun waving up to you!!!

oh. that's the group picture that's been uploaded to facebook.

    40616_461399593178_657058178_6476812_512914_n.jpg

    AWESOME :biggrin2:

  8. A quick news flash form me ...will write my report tonight.

(Well now I've written more than i meant so part 1 it is!)

I had a great day all round and it was a lovely feeling despite the weather the queue wasn't too bad and passed surprisingly quickly.

The venue staff were lovely and even came out to us with umbrellas when it started to rain rain rain!!

The line up as Sara said was very meticulously handled and we are certainly kept in number order which was great. :biggrin2:

Of course it was well organized this was Edinburgh ...:teehee:

They let a few folk hang about inside the lobby area and much sewing on of Mc Tee kilts was done plus some hanging about, eating, chatting, drinking and generally having a laugh ...a few ticket worries over box office collections but again these were mainly all sorted out for everyone i think ...

I think it was one of the nicest 'waits' I've had ( not just cause it's home for me) it seemed to be more relaxed and less stressed that some of the other UK gigs this year. The venue staff , John and the number system certainly all worked very well together ....

It was great to chat to all MFcers and other people i met for the 1st time ...the vibe was good and i was certainly on a high with it being my home town and having quite a lot of friends and my hubby coming along too as well as several resident MFCers staying with me ..!!

I'm glad the system worked well for everyone.

part 2 later ... ( i better get my children back!)

  9. Youtube is taking FOREVER. I'm most displeased. Ten minutes to upload this little clip of him and his cake. Psssht! I'll leave it all going during the afternoon and overnight, hopefully it'll all get done. I'll post up individual links when I'm back in London tomorrow evening, but for now, here's the lovely birthday boy being adorable. *sigh*

Some of the photos in this thread have been of absolutely stunning quality. I was quite proud of mine from Eden because they are the best that I've ever managed to get, but they're not in the same as league as some of the others here!

Holy smokes Jo, those pics are fabulous!:biggrin2:

Oh, and it was a great gig :thumb_yello:, the weather was perfect :thumb_yello:, the stage set was beautiful :thumb_yello:, and the Eden Project is amazing! :thumb_yello:
