  1. Sorry for the double-post...

About this not so nice review: Does this link http://index.hu/kultur/zene/fesztival/2010/08/14/homoerotikaban_feloldodott_macsosag/ work?

Here is what google-translator told me was the English version:

In many ways I was afraid because of Mika's action: the rapporteur will be able to properly play the Main Stage, to remove without the boredom of the whole concert? Although some can hit next couple of slips on weak one, Mika impressive was funny and cute concert, which was part of an organizer: the exaggeration.

The stage was covered in sunflowers and cemetery crosses, center-stage lunar surface have made over the sun, the scope of two pink skull, as if Tim Burton designed it. This in itself was quite excessive, but since the beginning of this concert rápakolva inflated a giant high-heeled foot in it one can not say anything. Mika genre of an exaggeration, too handsome, too cute, his voice is too high and, moreover, the stage is your favorite playground. And he is bisexual, which also has the ability to make a joke about Billy Brown. Who is the gay issue, which is Relax, Take It Easy During the song were put behind me, have not received a concrete answer, but two numbers during the dissolution of the happy homoerotikában macsóságuk scratched, so they were able to végigbulizni the concert.

  2. I shouldn´t read this :badmood:

I am totally angry about Hungarian people... Oh my, MIKA is so great.. I really undestand now why he cancelled show in Prague and why he will NEVER come to Slovakia. Peope in the middle of Europe, they just don´t deserve MIKA to come, because they listen just those commercial sh*ts, they can´t welcome someone as amazing as Mika is... People here just don´t know what real quality is and it´s so sad! there is few people who are not so stupid about music.. But I dunno, I really think that 70% people here are just stupid. So sad. Mika should stay there in London and Paris, because our mentality is so sick .

For example, I just can´t imagine Mika on the street here in Košice, Slovakia... I think that people would look at him like he was completely fool gay, we know just one model of ideal person and everyone, who is DIFFERENT is just loser here. So sad.

You know, I don't think it's that much about the people themselves. A lot of everything you think is influenced by the Media. It really would help if Mika was played in the radio. In Eastern European countries as well as in other parts of the world. I don't know if 30 Seconds to Mars are played a lot in Hungarian radios but I could imagine they are. I don't know any of their songs but I could imagine that they just more "fit" into the kind of music that is sold in Hungary. An if the record companies decide to push them they will get a lot of time on the radio and a lot of chances to be seen in newspapers and in the tv. And if they are seen more often there will be more people who could like them and turn into fans and so on. So it really depends on the whole system behind the music industry. I'm definately no expert in that and maybe I think WAY to easy but that's how I explain those things to myself :dunno:

  3.

You guys deserved a better experience in general... and so did Mika. Glad he's BEEN there after all though.

Agreed. I think it's a general decision with festivals. As an artist you take the risk to be ignored or to have an audience that isn't interested. But in the end every concert he gives is an advertisement for him as well. And those festivals are more an advertisement than a concert of his is because there are people that wouldn't come to his gigs. Especially in Sziget were (from my impression) just a few people coming for Mika. All the others saw him live and I guess most of them didn't know him in advance. Now they know him and that's what advertisement is suppossed to do with the "product". If some of them hear the name "Mika" again and think "yep, I've seen him at Sziget" or even "yep, I liked his performance at Sziget" it's a sucess and as his performance was really good, I'm sure some will think that. :thumb_yello:

That the day wasn't the greatest joy for one or two MFCers doesn't make the festival a bad thing. It's not that much about the ones who are already fans but about those *normal* people who didn't know or didn't see him so far. That's why I think it was a good decision to do this festival in the end (for Mika, still not sure about my journey :aah::naughty:) Or: this time I hope he doesn't care about MY opinion :naughty:

  4. Mika-part

Then I got excited and more excited with every sunflower / guitar / piano that appeared. After that long day it was soooo good to see familiar props :biggrin2:

Mika did a great show. It was too short in my opinion, but that's the thing with festivals, I guess. The audience seemed not that interested as already mentioned by others. I don't get why you would stand in front row and not even try to go with the music a bit. I did it with every act as well (erm, apart from Papa Roach - was too focused on surviving then :naughty:) and it didn't hurt  At one point Mika looked a bit unstatisfied. He tried to make the audience sing the "we are not what you think..."-part but it took at least four times for him to sing it until some in the audience were able to repeat it. Apparently they didn't know the lyrics at all - not even the WAG-chorus :boxed: What I found really funny was the intro to Billy Brown. He said the usual "this song is about a friend of mine"-part and then pointed on someone in the audience who waved a peace-flag and added "he would have waved a rainbow-flag like yours" :naughty: Later on Mika waved at that guy again and wanted him to come on stage. But when the guy crossed the barrier the security caught him and told him to leave. Even though Mika showed again and again that he wanted that guy (or his flag, I'm still not sure :naughty:) on stage, the security brought him away :sneaky2: When I got to chat with that guy after the gig he was really sad because it was so special for him and those stupid security-guys didn't let it happen :sneaky2: You could see that Mika wasn't happy about that either.

I think it's already been mentioned that there weren't Kick-Ass, Dr John and Big Girls / Lollipopgirls. I still wonder why there weren't fans on stage. It may be due to timing-problems but it was really weird to see the stage that empty for Lollipop

One last thing I have to mention: thank you again Suzie for being a perfect host :wub2: and thanks to my two zombie-friends from the bus-stops :naughty: I won't forget this morning

About pics / vids: Most of my pics are blurry and not worth being posted, I think the ones that are already in the thread are a lot better. I wanted to film Sweet Dreams, but at first I dropped my camera while filming :teehee: and then a girl fainted and everybody was pushed to the right and later to the left so I stopped filming as it would just be very confusing, I guess :naughty:

  5. As this was my first ever festival, I just have to write about the circumstances that lead me to the impression I got. If somebody wants to skip that part, feel free.

I've always been worried about festivals in general. I'm not that kind of person who likes different styles of music and to share a toilet with some thousand people. But as it was Mika playing, I thought the experience would be worth it. When I now sum it all up, I must say: it wasn't. I loved Mika's gig and I don't regret this journey, but everything apart from Mika wasn't something I'd like to sit in a train for for ages.

We arrived at the festival around noon and noticed that the front row was full  The 30 Seconds to Mars-fans told us that they wouldn't let us go in the front for Mika. I could understand that but was a bit sad about it, tbh. So it would be my first Mika-gig in second row :aah: We chilled a bit in the sun (I personally hoped for a M-soundcheck as many others were soundchecking :teehee: - but of course that didn't happen). At 3pm some Belarian / Ukrainian band started. At first I was surprised because the audience seemed to be really into it. But then I didn't enjoy it that much because I felt a bit excluded :shun: as they spoke and sung in Russian and my Russian is really poor :naughty:. The second band was Papa Roach - my worst gig experience ever. I hated every single minute of it. It wasn't that much about the band itself, even though I personally don't like peolpe that spit around everywhere and mention the f-word at least twice in every sentence. What I hated was the situation in the audience - the typical rock-concert-atmosphere, I guess... Before that I thought screaming 13-year-old-girls that wanted to touch Mika were bad. Now I know that they aren't. Men in their mid-twenties that want to touch a rockstar for whatever reason are worse. And the worst thing is that they have the power of men in their mid-twenties as well. I'm still amazed that we were able to survive this hour of pushing, fighting and crowd surfing and that we could defend our spots in second row as well  As soon as Papa Roach had left, the whole situation got a lot more relaxed. The next act was Gentleman who I knew as he's German and quite well known over here. It was a really good and easy-going-gig which I was able to enjoy.

  6. :lmao::floor::lmao:

btw, you know what statue said in riga? that she wants to marry jessica! ha! that still sounded a lot different in helsinki! :naughty:

    Are insider-jokes allowed here? :naughty:

Now my wish to marry Jessica is the new gossip-topic? Geeez... :roftl: I know one thing for sure: our children will be blond :naughty: We should get six: Mariah, Melanie, Edward (did we change that name?), Chustin, Daniela and Jemma :mf_rosetinted: And our best lady will be Andrea then :roftl:

  7. Hey!

    Please stop it!

    :offtopic:

The title of this thread is

"REPORTS/VIDEOS/PICS: MIKA @ The Circus, Helsinki, Finland"

    and not

"chatting about Allegra's misadventures when she is not here"

    :aah:

Okay, I will never mention you again, I swear :roftl:

Just one more thing: would you like to have the picture of M where he's smiling so cute? I cut you out of it because I didn't know whether you like me to post you or not. But in the original you're in (and I really like that :biggrin2:), so if you'd like to have, pm me your mailadress and I send it to you :wink2:

  8. i posted it in my report. :wink2: i asked him about that thing in italy in october, where you can win a m+g with him, but he didn't know anything about it, so i guess the moment statue took that pic, he was trying to remember his schedule. :naughty: or maybe it was when he talked about the gig in tunisia, no idea - anyway, it looks like he's trying to remember something. :naughty:

Yes, I think, it was the Italy-question :naughty: I would have laughed so hard if he had gone like "JOHN! :aah:" :roftl:

BTW: I love this picture, he looks like a supermodel in it :teehee::naughty:

  9. Part 2

Mika was great :mf_lustslow: You could see that he was tired but he was in a good mood as well. He said some words in Latvian which the audience really liked. He also interacted with the audience quite a lot. Just in case anybody is attending one of the next gigs: he looks for a new Billy Brown to be thrown on stage :mf_rosetinted:

He got shirtless quite early and stayed it for a while, did KA and OMS (both shirtless :biggrin2:) and SD as well (but dressed :naughty:). They wanted to start with an accoustic WAG but something didn't really work out (guess at least one of the band wasn't on the right track...) and at one point (can somebody help me which song it was?) he stopped in singing in the middle of the word. But I'm not sure that he wanted us to sing, I got the impression that he just forgot the words :naughty: During Lollipop he left out one chorus as he was just laughing and he seemed really impressed(? - he went from  to :naughty:) about one of the toy-boy-carrying-guys that danced on stage during Lollipop :roftl:

All in all it was a great show. the audience was good as well (and not pushy at all). I'm still not amused that he always decides for the wrong site during the BiotG-competition :sneaky2:

After the gig it didn't take to long 'til John came and told us where to line up for the M&G but it took ages 'til da man finally came. We weren't that many waiting for him and he seemed still in a great mood :wub2:

Information we got (I hope nobody minds that I write them):

    - still has no name for his dog but doesn't want to ask MFC :naughty:

    - holiday in September, but mentioned something about a possible gig in Tunesia

    - didn't know anything about that competition in Italy

    - John could confirm Budapest

Great evening - great MFCers - great Mika - great John!!! - GREAT! :swoon:

I will post my pictures. But am only back home tomorrow

  10. Part 1

Sitting in front of a hostel's computer next to Anthusa and still amazed by the memories of yesterday :wub2:

We started qing waaaay too early as we were Helsinki-experienced and expected the teenage fans in Riga to be similar to them. But apparently Qing isn't that common in Latvia. The most visitors arrived not earlier than half past three (pm! :naughty:). Just as a comparison: in Helsinki we had to close the list around noon with 50 people on it, in Riga at noon we were six people :aah: But I loved the Qing. Couldn't have been more relaxed. We sat in a circle at on one point we started to play spin-the-bottle-how-much-do-you-know-about-Mika which was a blast.

It was also quite nice to get to know some new faces (hi @ Dreamy_Queen and Anthusa).

When we decided to line up there were some Latvians who didn't like our idea, one of them had a number but decided to stay in front of another door because she was sure that the system wouldn't work out in the end. We still believed in the system and - of course - in John. But at one point the security showed up and didn''t know anything - which isn't that unusual, I know. But nobody knew when exactly the doors would be opened and the security really seemed to open all doors at the same time :sneaky2: We all got really nervous and scared because we didn't see John at all, not even a sign of him. So when there were just a couple of seconds to go Mellody  texted him and he answered "will sort." Two words and 50 peple are calmed down - magic John's power :naughty: Apparently the doors WERE opened, all at the same time. We were let in, I ran to the wrong door, the woman there spoke Latvian to me, I got really angry and even though I was number 1 I ended up somewhere in the middle. BUT there was another door to wait at. And then John arrived :wub2: Mellody helped him organise everything and in the end all numbered people left the others and lined up. After a couple of minutes one security guy came and showed me to follow him. So we all followed him in single file and I felt like a duck mother with 45 babies :roftl: We were lead to the backstage entrance and from there right in front of the stage It was SOOO cool! Everybody got their spot - without running, pushing, screaming or whatever. Thank you, John

After a while the others were let in and after another while John came again and we thanked him. He even said sorry :wub2: That was just so sweet. I mean, the whole number's system and John's support is just a gift Mika + team make us and we really couldn't complain if it didn't work out one day. But John didn't just help us (which is more than we could expect), he even said he was sorry for the confusion! He's really just the best!!!

Okay, erm... There was a gig, too :roftl:

The support act wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't get their whole costume-thing and their music changed from slow to hardcore-whatever. I'm still not sure whether they sang in English or Latvian, may have been both :dunno: But the audience seemed to like so it was okay.
