  1. Ta-da! If I decide to do Philosophy, UCD seems like the obvious choice as I've looked into their courses and they have about 6 'streams' of Philosophy Masters each dedicated to different areas (morality/ethics, mind/science, classical/history etc) and there's the absolute perfect one to expand on my love of the mind/science philosophical genre. If I go down the Librarian route, which is another possibility, UCD do the only course (Library and Information Technology) which qualify people as librarians.

At the same time, I've heard phrases such as 'save your soul, don't go to UCD' from Dubliners, so I'm a bit wary. Also, I have several friends in Maynooth, have been to the NUI there and LOVED it, so I'd love to go there, but I'm not sure the courses are as good, I've heard bad things about the Philosophy one there.

    /rant. Bet you're wishing you didn't ask, now ;)

  2. Hiya,

I love it! I think it's probably as close as you're going to get without shopping whereever Mika did! :P

  3. Cool. Sorry you couldn't do the whole thing, theres just too many people, and not enough work. I'll let you and the Meyers work out yourselves how you want to divide up the lettering. :biggrin2:

  4. Heya - Regarding the yearbook cover art:

Just to let you know, I know you wanted to do the title, and I've reserved a place on it for you. You'll get to do 18 letters out of 'The Fans Who Know Too Much - MFC Yearbook 2009'. The Meyer Twins, who asked aaaaaaaaages ago, will do the other 18 letters. Is that okay? I need you to let me know a.s.a.p, because if you're not happy with that, someone else will be delighted to do the title.

  5. HAHA it's good you're not a snob - I've commented on other people's videos and got no reply at all, I feel like saying 'well then, not voting for YOO!' :roftl: It's like, why join a forum if you don't want to talk to people?

How did I find out about Mika... that's a very good question. I THINK it was when I saw Love Today on a music channel and thought, 'Oh my God, what is the world coming to?' (I still maintain it's one of his worst, though catchiest songs). But something about it immediately drew me in and I watched the whole thing. Meantime, I had repeatedly heard Grace Kelly but had NO idea who it was by - when I realised it was the same crazy dude I went straight out and bought the album! :naughty: What about you?

  6. The hand puppets were brilliant, I think coz they reminded me of the ones in the Happy Ending video, so they were very Mika-esque! As for that umbrella, I WANT IT. Lol. If I ever see anything like it, I'm buying it. :biggrin2:

I'm good! And sorry for randomly posting on your profile lol!

I am still pretty new! I'm... well. I've always LIKED Mika, a lot, more than most, but in a very passive 'ah-I-wouldn't-turn-the-radio-off-if-he-came-on' kinda way. I loved LICM, but I KNEW he had the potential to be so much better (Grace Kelly being the obvious example). So naturally, I was stoked about the new album, immediately got it, and when I heard Toy Boy, I knew he had done exactly what I'd hope - cashed in on his real talent, dealing with dark, adult, REAL concepts in an almost sarcastic manner under cloak of infectiously catchy, happy and bubbly music. So I immediately set off to learn more about the man, and here I am!

    Sheesh, I know how to talk don't I?! :blush-anim-cl:

  7. Hiya, just wanted to say I watched your WAG video (when I see links in sigs I can't help but click!) and I loved it! Really made me smile, loved the 'hand puppets' really inventive and it all looked like so much fun! Also, WICKED umbrella! x

  8. Aww man you're going to look awesome!! I really need to start working out right now what I'm going to wear!! Might actually try and find a dress between now and Feb on ebay, sometimes theres cheap things unworn on there. Hmmm.... and I need to take into account that I intend to have a pink bowler hat.

I LOVE your new avatar by the way!

  9. Hiya -

Okay, those suspenders are AMAZING!! I have no idea what you're planning on wearing but I know Mika would highly approve of those suspenders!!

I have no idea what I'm going to wear to the gig. I'm not a colourful person. I might try and get a brightly coloured dress, tights and maybe customise some plain converse-esque shoes or something.

  10. Hiya!

Just wanted to say I watched your 'We Are Golden' entry video on youtube (I'm watching anyone who has links in their sigs) and I thought it was FABULOUS! Well done you! x

  11. I actually know someone in Dublin who is gonna look for me too, so if he finds one I'll let you know where he got it! I could afford the postage if absolutely necessary, but that won't be applicable til about 7 days before a confirmed gig :naughty: I'll keep an eye out in Cork and if I find something it'd be no bother to post it up to you.

€18.50? That's very cheap. Not sure how cheap Mika would be though - I read in some thread or other that the prices for his shows have gradually been going up. I've never even heard of the Academy to be honest - I'm going to go Google it now.

  12. Yeah it might be possible to cover it, but it might not look as good... having said that - white is MUCH closer to the right look than that black banded one floating around the place, so it probably wouldn't really be that much of a problem. It's the right shade and all! Postage is very expensive though, isn't it? It can't possibly be very heavy!

Myself and Debbie (Tauruslady) were saying if he does play and we all end up going, it might be a laugh to head to it together. It's always fun with a crowd!

  13. Hallo m'dear, how're you doing?

I saw those and didn't actually look too closely, but seeing them up close - does that hen party band look like it might just slide off? It doesn't look entirely sewn on, so even if theres a couple of stitches they could probably be cut to get it off. Or alternatively, we could sew one saying, 'MIKA!!!' over it :naughty:

Not entirely sure about the white edge either but I'd imagine we can't be TOO picky.

If he's coming to Ireland next year I NEED to have one to wear going :naughty:

  14. Oh I didn't know you'd met Sheree, that's really cool. If Mika does come to Ireland (think positive thoughts) we should all meet up for it, it'd be a laugh.

The erasmus students always make me wonder - are they really passionate, or are us Irish all just lazy buggars! :roftl: I know I for one spent half of first year in my mate's apartment watching Home And Away instead of going to lectures! :naughty:

  15. Oh, she sent me a welcome PM but I haven't been talking to her much. She must be here in Cork with me then! I must pop over to her page and say hi properly.

The international and mature students were SO dedicated it was unreal, often times they'd get into massive debates, or start drawing on things from their own cultures and the rest of us would be like :roftl:

Thank you, I'm pretty happy with that drawing. It's on my wall on one side of my mirror, I'm going to do a Life In Cartoon Motion version to put on the other side :roftl: Mika has inspired sooooo much of my art recently!!

  16. The lectures down here in UCC were amazing in second and third year, because it's the smallest class in the Arts course. So classes were between 15 and 30 people, and mostly we'd sit around just discussing a topic, and picking which areas of it we really wanted to get into. I loved it. I had a dishy Oxford gaduate as a lecturer for Philosophy of Mind, Science and Logic as well :aah:

I dunno about the dark and arty, but there were a lot of international students, German, Italian, American etc. It ruled, really.

The art threads are very cool on here. http://www.mikafanclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2555740#post2555740 That's the one I posted in.

  17. I studied English Literature and Philosophy. Both are really interesting to me, but it's like a niche market which most people can't see the appeal in! :naughty:

Ammm I have a Deviant Art account but half the stuff isn't much cop, or it's Lion King Fan Art! :P I have a picture I've done for Mika's yearbook in a thread on here somewhere, an art thread, I don't know where it went. It's just Mika doing his tip-toes dance thing, wearing a suit which is covered in the new album's artwork. :blush-anim-cl:

  18. Tv production stuff! That sounds awesome. Everyone does more interesting stuff than me lol.

Are you on Deviant Art or anything? You do look pretty talented, I'd love to see your other work. :D

  19. It's good to see some 'local' people anyway on such an international forum!

So what do you do and stuff? I just graduated from college (22 in November) and am saving this year to go on and do a Masters or something this year. In the meantime I'm mostly doing art and writing book reviews for a website.... they're probably my biggest hobbies. :biggrin2:

  20. Hallo! Another Irish fan! Wahey! We'll achieve world domination yet!

....Or at least get Mika to Ireland!

    Howrya?

  21. I haven't spoken any Irish either in a long time, but I'd love to get back into it, I hate that I'm not really fluent anymore. I'm a bit patriotic like that.

Philosophy is awesome. It really is my favourite academic thing to study (I also did Psychology and Sociology for a year, but nothing really caught my attention like Philosophy.)

I'd actually love to be good with languages, but when I don't have a natural knack for it I don't try to force it. I'm better at art and music than I am at languages, and I'm still not good enough at those to even do them on a university level!

    Film subtitling sounds really interesting!

  22. I was in Dublin last Thursday, to see Tim Minchin in Vicar Street. Epic night. :biggrin2:

I'm not sure what I want to do yet, haven't decided whether to go down the Philosophy route I know I'd love but never get a job in, or go down the English Lit/Archival/Librarian route where I could potentially train for any of a variety of jobs

German Translation Studies eh? Fair dues, languages were never really my forté. I've studied bits of French, Spanish and Latin alongside Irish over the years, but I think I'll have to stick with English :bleh:

  23. I'm in Cork, originally from Kerry but we won't mention that (hehe) and I just finished at UCC, so I'm pretty much permenantly residing in Cork at the moment. Plans to go to Dublin when I've the funds for a Masters though.

  24. Go an-mhaith, go raibh maith agat! It's nice to see other Irish people on here, I've joined a few different forums recently and there seems to be one or two of us sneaking about everywhere! :naughty:
