Even if I already know the story (from your report ) it is still great reading it. It sounds so unbelievable! And sooo nice. Especially because you didn't freak out! Respect for that (as the Germans say! ) I would go like and then and then run away and be terribly ashamed in a corner. Hey, I have been reading stuff on the Killers thread, and now the front man Flowers is doing a solo tour. So some girls went to a gig and they met the guitarist (not from the band but the one hired for the solo tour) before the show in front of the venue as they were waiting and he asked one of them if she wants him to "show her the tour bus". *cough, cough* He seemed to be very nice, they talked with him again after the gig, but...I mean....I don't know...somehow it sounds wrong to me... I mean, I don't have any problems with the guys having some fun on tour....but taking advantage of the fans like that and even asking openly... So happy MGMT don't do that (they don't do that, right??? At least I have never heard anything like that )

Everything is ok with me, as long as they keep on writing and performing. And about the surnames: they show the origins of their families I would say, that's very often like that in the States. But I think Ben is Jewish and about Andrew, I don't know, I think he comes from Memphis, and his family originaly came from Holland?

Yes, he seems very nice! A bit crazy and nice! I like it how you can see at interviews that he and Andrew like each other. In another interview Andrew almost sat on Matt's lap and they both seem ok with it, like it is something totaly normal. And they kept cuddling each other all the time. It sounds a lot weirder than it looked actually. Funny you would never think they are gay or something, even if I have never ever seen other men doing that if they are only friends... But then again, I live in Europe, prhps in other continents/cultures it is different?

Yes, exactly! That's what makes the difference btw. a "normal" journalist and a really good one - the good ones can adjust to the situation and play along with their guests and if something's not going the way they expect they just "take a step back" and think "Ok, what's going on here, can I use it to ask a funny question? Is it even better than what I've planned for the interview? Let's try this out" and make some really unexpected interviews... You know what I mean? I am still wating for that interview to happen. Ok, Jian Ghomeshi is great at interviewing musicians, prhps because he was/is one himself...

hahaha, that combo is even weirder than Ben and Andrew in an interview. It almost made me uncomfortable to watch, because Matt is fidgeting all the time and making Andrew kinda nervous...poor interviewer. It's like Matt is totaly tired and wanting to get some sleep. That's how I am if I miss sleep, keep fidgeting all the time and can't find a comfortable position to sit in.

Have fun, you two! Tell us how you like them after you've listened to them! Always good to hear new opinions.

Did you watch this? Sooooo nice! Hahaha, "Acid cookies"....
  9. Yes, nice one! Here's a video:

that makes me want to have holiday on a boat right away...
  10. Ha, ha, yes, they really look clean...

But who knows, sometimes those clean looking guys are the worst sort... :roftl:

Their music reminds me at times of Kletzmer music, you know this jiddish music. I like that. They are sort of friends with MGMT, cause they all come from/live in NY. But they definitely look more like the perfect son-of-law-type than the MGMT guys...

I have tics for their gig here in November (yees, I am throwing my money out for indie bands atm), so I will tell you then how they are live.

Posh means...yeah, dandy or rich or something like that, because they all went to really good schools. And you can call me SE on MFC. I don't think Mika dresses very weirdly anymore. He walks around like everybody else here in Munich: chinos, chucks, flip flops, white shirt, polo shirts, marine style, dark blue jackets... Unisex boring stuff, I wear those as well . Almost no rings or bracelets or necklaces anymore. MGMT dress really weird, esp. Andrew and the guitarist with the long hair... But I like it on Andrew! Ben is more conservative in his clothes I think.

Two of my fave ones: And my favorite one! If I would have done this interview, I would have fainted right away...

+1 He has such a nice forehead! I wonder what he would look like with really short hair?
  14. Yeah, you're welcome, Q TV is a great channel. I love Ghomeshi, he's such a great interviewer. I don't know how he does it, but pple feel so comfortable with him and are always so talkative.
  15. :bye: My newest discovery: here are some friends of MGMT for you, without the drugs:

AND: Ezra's nose is almost as big as that of Joseph A. :teehee:

    AND: he looks good

AND he's an English teacher in a fulltime job.

AND they have a song about the "Oxford Comma" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmKnDFEjIgY

So, you have no excuse: you MUST love them! :wink2:

Oh, cool, didn't know that! And you know what: they play at the same venue three weeks apart here. So I can first go to VW and say: Hey, guys, if you have a message for MGMT just give it to me, I'll pass it over to Andrew and Ben... Somehow I like posh guys, or at least such that have visited posh schools: Mika, MGMT, VW... Oh, damn, I seem to be a snob!
  17. That seems true! That's my sleeping position as well and I can eat whatever I want without putting any weight on.
  18. I think many of the musicians that are using autotune like that are just making fun of it.... I like Vampire Weekend a lot, going to a gig in November. :boing:

And I also think "Time to Pretend" is ironic, the MGMT guys are making fun of the lifestyle of pop/rockstarts, that's what the song is about. At least that's what they said in two interviews. :dunno: You shouldn't take their texts to seroiusly, because they are making fun of things in many of them, so, you know, relax, take it eeeeeeeeasy... :wink2:

Everybody's coming to California! I was just panicking because I thought about am I going to to AFTER the mgmt gig? No gigs till 2011. Then I saw VW coming....three weeks BEFORE mgmt....so that's no solution for my problem... But I think I still am going to the gig. Just can't resist.
  20. Everytime I hear this kind of autotune, I think of you! :teehee:

, But Mika too has a song about the "Lonely Alcoholic". What about that, eh? :shun::roftl: Alkohol is one of the worst kinds of drugs, if you ask the pple who work with drug addicts they will tell you that. So... I dunno...I guess I am not too critical about that. :dunno:

  21. Some little autotune for you! :teehee: I like them:

  22. Hey, you're one of my favorite MFCers! So I really hope you have a great day and a brilliant year in front of you! :bye:

Perhaps they needed to pee and didn't find the toilets. Hey, Vampire Weekend are doing a gig in November here, I wonder if I should go... Have you girls listened to them? I know them only from UTube & I quite like some of their songs, but I still am not sure...
