  1. Don't think we should let this thread get taken over by people who don't like the mika fan club. If they don't give us the curtosy of talking abou MFC nicely, we shouldn't let them take it over. Shame that negative things have been blasted all over the Internet about it though. It has been puzzling me for some time as to why they do it...

  2. I've come across these comments too. Very strange. Maybe I'm being naive here, but I've never come across any form of bullying on here, towards mika or anybody else.

Everybody on here voices their opinions, but I've never seen anything even close to malicious. It's a shame these comments are around, especially as they appear to be false.

As for the new video, I much preferred the old-style music videos of mika jumping around to the music, but I don't see this as a music video , rather as a 'short film' , like mika said it was.

Funny, accusations of mika being too gay or too straight! I think of him as not particularly gay, and not particularly straight. He might be telling the truth by simply saying he's 'not picky'!:mikacool:

  3. Just been listening to Karen and BIOTW. They're so nice, and very different to MYH. I hope the album will be more like the first two, like Mika described, but as this was the first song he wanted us to hear, I fear this is not the case...

I'm less bothered about the release of TOOL since the disappointment of MYH, but I'd prefer it to be out for the summer. It may not be the best time for a major hit, but there's something nice about ' summer tunes'. :mikadas:

  4. Make You Happy now can have another name "I`ll be back":naughty:

Strange.... but it really came back to my mind 2 days after...(not only my as I see). I woke up with its lines in my head and can`t stop singing so far...

    There`s something about it.

I agree! I don't like it exactly, but it keeps on accidently coming back into my head, then I have to listen to it again!:sneaky2:

  5. I can't believe I"m so tired but still up as I wanted to figure out how the song worked and I had to listen to it 4-5 times more :aah:

That's because "all I wanna do is make you happy" is actually 4/4 (cut in a funny way though that makes it uneven within the bar) but the drum base is in 3/4 so when the drum starts these come on top of each other you hear the stressed beat at different parts of the 3/4 meter: first on the first beat then on the second and then on the third.

The verse starts with some irregular rhythm but the 3/4 returns when the drum beat returns, keeping the funny accents / stresses on different parts of the beat as the "All i wanna do is make you happy" is repeated again on top.

Then there is the 'What're you gonna do, I am not over you" part, which is 4/4 2/4 and 3/4 3/4., breaking the structure. Following that 3/4 returns and the song finishes with the original "all I wanna do is make you happy" bit alone, and again the meter changes.

Pretty sure it's not in 3/4 having listened to it after this post. Pop music is very rarely in 3/4. The only 2 songs (not classical) that I can think of are piano man (billy Joel) and over my shoulder. There is a completely different beat on these and you can easily go oom-cha-cha (or similar) and make it fit the pulse. Make you happy has a syncopated beat to it most of the time though.

now he really needs to get rid of the old stuff in his gigs!

No! His old songs are so much better than this! I've listened to it about 10 times, tried to like it, but I can't. Literally the first mika song i dont like. This is not mika! At this rate his fan base will completely change hands. This can't be happening. Mika was fine just the way he was.:aah::aah::aah:

  7. Not what I expected. I thought maybe some nice , gentle piano pieces not a techno mess! :( I adore 'rain', 'love today' and 'big girl' etc. ( electronic) but also toy boy, sitm, ggg , happy ending etc. which are done on real instruments.

I must admit 'make you happy' is not exactly my cup of tea and it seems to be heading towards the disaster that pop music is at the moment. Potentially good song but the electronic sound makes me sad. It's like mika hiding behind loads of synthesisers, not being used to good effect ! :(

How is he going to sing this live?

    What does everyone think?

  8. Sorry. I feel silly now. I'm not a londoner, but my uncle lives in Kensington. I heard mika lives there, so I always look out for him. Never seen him though :(

Mind you, I barely ever go there, and mika seems to spend most of his time elsewhere.

I thought 21 Horsham Road might be his address, but it's not even a real place. Guess it might be a little foolish to write your home address in your album...

  9. this person works in Barclay on Universal music http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2F%23!%2FOlivierDescroix&h=MAQFgc3JUAQEbyYmxE2OH0E1L2jrSJvp5D4_gFBaXBcbVAA

    and he tweeted :

Je suis chez #mika dans sa maison de chelsea pour ecouter son nouvel album et preparer la sortie :) cooooool

I'm at # mika at his home in Chelsea to listen his new album and prepare the exit cooooool :)

I thought he lived in Kensington ! Oh well, sounds as if he's actually made some songs then. He should do some interviews etc. I've just been watching some of the TBWKTM release interviews on youtube ( as well as very diligently revising!). They would help to get publicity up a bit.

  10. Yeah, I've been thinking about this recently.

Most people know LICM. Most people don't know TBWKTM.

Which way is TOOL going to go?

Hopefully somewhere in the middle. A number one single wouldn't come amiss, but if mika was as well-known as -say-Adele, he wouldn't be exclusive and special. Real fans and people who 'go with the flow' would be merged.

I've just read ' The Fault in Our Stars' ( John Green) which is an incredible book. I'm not sure about this, but I almost feel the book is too well known.

One of the messages in it is that you don't have to be famous to be a hero or to leave a legacy. As in, giving a lot to a few is better than giving a little to many. As long as mika makes good songs and has enough to keep the songs coming, I think we ( as his fans) should really be happy.

    I'm feeling quite philosophical now...

  11. It was only France and not 'Europe', unfortunately. Also, I do not think it is his UK fans he 'favours' when he sings in English but most of his fans, actually, since even the French are used to him singing in English :dunno:

I have a feeling most of them were gone before that, so what Mika needs now is a brand new start, IMO, almost like re-launching himself in the UK with something completely different in sound and vision. I am keeping my fingers crossed it will work for him - and me, too :teehee:

A new SOUND AND VISION? No! Mika is mika and we are his fans. A 'relaunching' thing would be good. Mika hasn't completely been forgotten , but he is not exactly in the front of most people's minds. But mika is all about crazy falsetto, quirky lyrics and jumping about like well, only Mika can on stage. Without these things, he could just be anyone else.

  12. I'll be a fan of mika's hair. Well, I already am. I preferred it longer and curler but it's ok now. The whole 'looking more grown up' thing isn't working though because his face is so young ( and beautiful). Oh well, at least we can see that face better, but I personally think that his longer locks complemented his face nicely. So basically GROW IT BACK , MIKA!:mikadas:
