On all these charity auctions I always find it incredible that Mika's things are always way out ahead of most of the others. On this one it is currently more than double Rolf Harris's offering - and his work goes for thousands these days.
However, I have been convinced for a while that there are two or three people who bid for the Mika items....very probably the same few people bidding against each other every time!
I feel sorry for the doodler's who don't have any bids!
The same few very rich people. :blink:At least it raises lots for charity, even if it does make his auction items a little out of the reach of the rest of us.

Go and dance in the rain!!! It's snowing here.
Lucky you! Rumour has it that it's gonna snow here tomorrow. Maybe I'll dance in the snow tomorrow. Last time I tried to eat it and my brother told me not to as less would settle, so maybe I'll have to dance instead.
I've done 4 main things today. One success (flapjack thingys), one failure (making a WAG badge) and 2 incomplete things (Maths past paper and a snake paper cut for Chinese New Year). Exciting life! I just want snow now! How much has settled where you are?

Why did somebody have to position a washing-up glove next to the washing machine in such a way that it actually looked like a hand? I just ran screaming around the house!
In other news, I'm feeling creative today and it's raining. Anybody got any ideas of what I could make/do?

Glad I'm not the only one who's fairly sure that that's last year's one with 2012 sneakily turned into 2013! A bit cheeky IMO!
I did a doodle with one of my friends today in Maths (last thing on a Friday before half term- nobody actually expected us to do maths!) entitled
'Herbert the Maths Dinosaur and Sam the Banana Tree'. We could have given it to MIKA to avoid him photocopying last year's one!

can't dance
occasionally draw quite well
like to go on adventures and have freedom (or at least travel)
Get shut in our rooms by our mothers (which is why I'm writing this now)
There are probably more things... we have quite a lot in common actually.
Cool idea for a thread!

Okay! This is my piano cover of Kick Ass. I thought someone walked into my room, so that's why I paused and said Hello. XD
You have a proper piano in your room? Wish I had one in mine! Good, fun cover- well done!

Hello! Welcome to the MFC!

Today we have had a severe weather warning in the UK. We are expecting ....... 4-10 cm of snow!
4 inches of snow is hardly severe. 4 feet maybe
Us brits tend to overreact to the threat of a bit of snow! School decided to shut yesterday at 6.30 am when there was slightly less than 1mm of the stuff. Mind you, we have got quite a bit now- it's hard to tell how much has fallen-it all drifted overnight. Unfortunately, most of the snow got blown out of the garden , but it's collected at the sides of fields and in dips in the ground to above knee height. I just love snow!

Not a very good calendar! Is there anywhere that sells a real-life MIKA calendar? It's half- way through January and I still don't have a calendar of any description!

Have a listen to the electromagnetic spectrum song (youtube). It helped me to pass one of my physics exams a couple of years back. I actually still have it on my iPod (maybe a little sad but it's a good song!). Maybe not in enough detail for you, but it's fun!

Sorry, was false alarm! Was an old picture. But just uploaded a picture that is made more recent! He is in Bangkok, Thailand!
So he is still alive and on this planet then! I was beginning to worry that he'd got lost somewhere in the himalayas. His last tweet was on 3rd January!

I have bad memories of orchestra trying to play Popular from 'Wicked!' last year. We were all just shouted at constantly! So I wasn't too happy when mika decided to make it a large part of this song. I also feel a bit cheated that he didn't come up with something more original. And mika rapping is an interesting concept to say the least!
However, the song is catchy and has quite meaningful lyrics. And surprisingly, I often want to listen to it more than some of the other songs from the album that I prefer. Strange but seems to be an effective song overall !

I'm doing some last minute revision for tomorrow's exam. At least my lucky chicken (not a euphemism) fits in my new jacket's pocket!

你们很好!That was the first time I've ever enjoyed listening to 'call me maybe'! It would be great if you guys could do a mika cover.

Don't like this version, it just sounds like a cr**py, sped-up remix of the song, which, to be honest, is not my favourite mikasong anyway!

I've wanted a Mika t-shirt for ages, and I thought I'd be able to get one in Manchester. Unfortunately, they only had XL left. There is same situation on Mikasounds website (although the OOL tour t-shirts are not up there yet), and eBay. The only place that seems to stock them in my size (women's medium as a maximum, preferably small) is the official Mika clothing website. These are shipped from the USA, with a shipping charge of about $30, which makes the whole purchase ridiculously expensive.
Anybody found any MIKA t-shirts recently in medium or small women's? I guess small men's might be ok too if it comes to that.

So what do you think?
Will the world end tonight at midnight or it is something to happen during the day of tomorrow?
I worry coz tomorrow is my mom's bday and i still have a cake to bake...
Or did the Mayans seriousy ****ed up and we'll be all alive and kicking tomorrow???
Post your thoughts....
Well it's already tomorrow in some part of the world...
But it could happen. Do you remember earlier this year when a huge asteroid when whoosh past earth, and missed it by a whisker? No astronomer saw it coming! And who really knows what kind of nuclear bomb North Korea etc. could detonate at any moment?
The world definitely could end tomorrow, but I hope it doesn't. Life is fun! Just enjoy every moment.
PS: I saw mika 1 week before the supposed apocalypse/doomsday, so my life is a little more complete than it was!

I went to Iceland in October of this year. It really is an amazing country! Reykjavik is definitely not the best part of Iceland , but we saw the Northern Lights there. Hope everyone enjoyed the country and the gig!

Anybody know where I can get a mika ladies t-shirt from that isn't XXXLLL or similar that doesn't bankrupt me?

Wow! Yesterday evening was probably the best of my life! The show was absolutely amazing and the venue was small, so we were really close to the stage. It was just incredible: he performed loads of songs, old and new, and was very lively, chatty and jokey. He interacted with the crowd and band almost constantly.
Someone threw two naked action men on stage, which were contorted into slightly awkward positions and mika sang to them and kept on joking around with them. He said it was the weirdest thing that had ever been thrown at him. Mika was on the piano ( playing it an on top of it) for quite a lot of the gig, which was a pleasant surprise, and his voice was brilliant. His voice only cracked once, and his falsetto was faultless. I'd braced myself for a lower standard of singing because of his throat issues, but I'd have never guessed his throat was bad last night, his voice was just amazing! He even made up a little song at the beginning of celebrate, about the weather, sore throats and anything else that popped into his head. He is such a natural spontaneous performer! It took 4 hours for me to get there, but the show was worth every second of that (MIKA said he spent 6 1/2 hours getting there ad he only arrived 4 minutes before he came on stage!) My legs hurt now from jumping and dancing around like a maniac for the whole time though.

It was my first time seeing him and it was amazing.
The only bad thing was how I got inside at 6:30, had some absolutely poor DJ who thought it was an opportunity for him to play all of his 80s CD collection, I was so bored, it was cruel to make us wait that long without a support act or anything.
But yeah, one of the best nights on my life, I threw my action men on stage and he was playing with them for ages, I wrote "Gay for mika" and he was like "you're gay for me?" Hahaha, felt like I had a conversation with him for ages.
Absolutely loved it, so glad I threw them dolls on. Will write a full review soon
It was you? The action men were so funny!

Oh wow! My first mika gig! Absolutely amazingly awesome! I have to go to bed now but will write review tomorrow morning.:wub2:
Am I the only one who feels mika's new sound is a little less unique?

You aren't the only one! However, I don't like a couple of songs off the album (Make You Happy and Overrated especially), because they are unpleasantly electronic and don't sound particularly 'Mika'. Quite a lot of his new album does not sound like the old Mika. I think TOOL is much more electronic than any of his other work, which explains the huge contrast between his demos and his latest album. TOOL seems to rely heavily on auto tune, whereas I don't think any of this is used on his demos at all (including Am I the Only Lonely One), giving them an older, more natural and less polished feel. Most artists nowadays use auto tune , making his voice sound more similar to everyone else's.
Also, MIKA seemed to experience 'writer's block' before writing TOOL, so he was probably more significantly influenced by the other artists he worked with than with his previous material. The result is mostly good songs, but mostly sounding less typically 'Mika'.
I don't know, just some thoughts, but I agree.
