  1. Mika has not dissapointed the UK. The UK have dissapointed mika.

    Having said that, I mentioned mika at school a few weeks back and everyone said they really liked him!

    He has had virtually nothing played on the radio, and done very little in the adversiting department here so I'm not ridiculously surprised. People just seem to be unaware that he has even released a new album. Maybe his main target audience is no longer the UK. He even made us wait several weeks more than everyone else in the world!:aah:

  2. Nice! But next time my husband tells me I have bad handwriting, I'm showing this to him:fisch:

    Not all that terrible. My dad's is much, much worse and I think mine is most of the time too. Mika was having a brainwave clearly, and when that happens, handwriting is irrelevant.

    I'd love to win this, but I'm not on twitter.:sneaky2:

  3. Before TOOL was released, mika posted some of the lyrics on twitter. I thought it would be cool to screenshot these and look back when I knew which songs they came from. I still don't know which sing these lyrics are from though:

    "why would I let all the tears dry, when if I miss you, then you stay alive, so I'm gonna miss [you] cuz I want to miss you"

    Am I missing something here? What song are these lyrics from?

  4. The greater the atomic number, the smaller the radius. This is because there are more protons when there is a greater atomic number, giving the nucleus a greater positive pull towards the electrons, so they come closer to the nucleus. Because they are all in the same period, with the same number of electrons, there aren't any other factors which will outweigh this (eg. shielding blah blah)

    Does that make sense? :teehee:

    Thanks so much! That does make sense and now I can go to bed without worrying about it. I think my friend wrote it down wrong, so when I copied it up, it made no sense. Wow! You've made it seem really simple. Thank you again!

  5. Sorry. I have another chemistry question:

    If one took all of the elements in period 3 (across not down) and ionised them so that they had exactly the same number of electrons, how would their radius (radii?) differ and why?

    I think it has something to do with the atomic or mass number, but I missed the lesson so I'm confused, and I have a test tomorrow. Anybody know about this?

  6. Kirsty Wark and guests Natalie Haynes, Paul Morley and Julie Myerson give their verdict on JK Rowling's new novel The Casual Vacancy and the film version of Jack Kerouac's On the Road. Singer/songwriter Mika performs live in the studio.Duration: 50 minutes

    It starts at 11pm UK time.

    Yay! Mika flood at the moment. Amazing after the 3 year mika drought. He should release albums more often!

    But 11pm is past my bedtime!:shocked:

  7. Anybody any good at Chemistry? I thought I was ok, but I'm in a pickle!What is the difference between Mr and RAM (relative atomic mass)? I thought there wasn't any, but there seems to be one, and it relates to finding the molecular formula from the empirical formula, as well as other stuff. Also, I'm stuck on questions like this:

    Nickel combines with carbon monoxide to form nickel carbonyl, Ni(CO)x ( x is subscript like in H2O). When 2.95g Nickel was heated with carbon monoxide,it was converted completely into 8.55g nickel carbonyl. Find the mass of CO which combined with 2.95g Ni and hence find the value of x in the formula.

    I made a little equation:

    2.95g+CO->8.55g

    so CO=5.6g

    And the Mr (arghh!) of CO is 12+16=28

    Then I put it into the equation

    no. of moles= mass/Mr

    so then 5.6/28=x

    but this is not going to be a nice integer value that would be the right answer and I cannot see where I went wrong. I had the same issue with the next question I tried, so I think the problem is with my method. Anybody know what to do?

    Thanks for reading this. It's quite long.

  8. I'm still working this out, BUT

    Tah Dah !!

    ~~~~~~~~
    As usual, MIKA uses the same set of chords through the whole song.
    I'm pretty sure the key is Dflat major/C# major
    Someone double check that for me, haha
    I would check it, but I haven't even heard the song yet. Not even a pitchly (not a word!) distorted YouTube version like the others. Somebody put a MYH remix up, but called it Tah Dah. Sounds a good song from the iTunes preview though.
    I will probably put other chords on here when I actually have the album (doesn't come out until 8th October here!:() but for now I've been doing step with me and kids on the ukulele:
    Step with me:
    Eb major, Ab major,Eb major, Bb major repeated, apart from the home cooked tasty mischievous dishy bit which is Eb major, Ab major,Eb major, Ab major, Eb major, Bb major. :P
    Kids:
    F major, D minor, Bb major,C major
    So both nice and simple!:)
  9. That was an amazing performance. Without the rap it is a much better song! People who don't know the record probably thought he was lip syncing though-he sounded perfect, but obviously different from the album version. Is he gok g to release a version without the rap in the middle? It's made me realise how much the rap ruins the song!
    And (fingers crossed) there is evidence of the return of the mika-curls!:wub2:
  10. Here you are:
    Thanks so much! It's a lovely song and better now. It doesn't seems (especially at first) to roll of the tongue easily, but the lyrics mostly seem to fit well . Ahhh... Good break from the mostly electronic album!
    Shame somebody's posted about it being illegal etc. but unless someone lives in France, they cannot even listen to the song otherwise. If we are unable to purchase the song at all,how is it illegal to listen to it on the Internet? And how is it bad for mika?
