  1. As for the point he is trying to make...I guess we will have to wait for the original text since a twice translated article is probably not reliable.

i'm hoping this is the case...though translations in the past have been pretty spot on...

It's not that it's beyond his competence but that he doesn't have any more insight into this topic than the thousands of other people who are opining on it at the moment. We all know about this story. No one wants the government spying on them. It goes without saying. There is direct information coming from Snowden and indirect information coming from journalists researching and editorializing. Unless Mika has some sort of explicit plan about how citizens like himself and us can effect change then he is simply stating the obvious - that the government is spying and no one should be okay with their privacy being invaded.

I also prefer his columns in which he speaks about personal experiences. Basically this column was ok but it's really just stating the obvious. I have yet to speak to a person who says "Omg I totally hope the government had a look at the chat I had with my mum last night via Facebook!!!!111!!!"

yup exactly...i do think this is all just stating the obvious...well obvious to me at least :aah:

EDIT: looking at christine's last post - i would've been way more interested on his take on private persons using internet anonymity for bad and he could've then tied this into the whole datagate thing...would've made for a better column IMHO

  2. I have no idea what Mika is talking about and morever I find it the less interesting column ever :aah:

    :naughty:

I've been super duper busy irl but ofc I've been sneaking peeks at mfc, and when I read this column I thought  i have no idea what the ultimate point of this piece was...thought maybe I read too fast and I really need to comb through it to get the bottom line... Obvs some points he makes, I get- and disagree with... Basically Christine said exactly what my thoughts are on the whole privacy issue...

I didn't care for the American column either...:aah:

  3. I turned it on and for some reason the news wasn't in French but English and they were saying that Mika had managed to sue a large company for one hundred million dollars (or pounds) because of them being responsible for him going blind on the set of an ad for their company  Don't remember what he was selling in the ad but it was horrible because he had harmed his eyes on the set of the ad and had gone blind for life and had to retire from working. It was so sad and horrible and I'm so relieved it was just a dream because it felt so real and I felt so terribly bad for him. :( Anyway, just had to write it down here for some reason because I'm fascinated by dreams.

o man i've had similar reams (not about mika though) and when this happens i just wake up feeling so ill! they're really terrible dreams...but as was said i don't think he'd let that stop him for long :wub2:

Most of the dream was me sandpapering the bag while Mika mostly ignored me/occasionally looked on in amusement. He looked exactly how he did in the Popular Song video.

    :lmao:

this reminds me - i've had mika dreams 2 nights in a row now - the first was me helping him paint some mural...it was amazing and the art was gorg, and i really wish i had a dream recorder :sneaky2:

and last night i dreamt we were spending some time together after a gig - he was just lounging around in the general vicinity of where some of us fans were gathered (a balcony area) and he looked very open to having a conversation since noone was 'bothering' him at the time and i had this endless debate in my head, in the dream, about whether i should go up and talk to him and whether i should ask him the only question i really wanted to ask after the small talk was over...the timing then seemed off for this question, so this debate went on until i woke up - with me standing a few feet from mika, ignoring him while he sat there and i debated whether to ask him a question....:aah::aah:

  4. I have the books at home. I haven't read them and won't. I know that makes me sound lazy, but it's a long story. Anyway, if someone wants them, just send me a private message. I'll mail them to you. :) First come first serve!!!

I don't think ur lazy just smart :aah:

i read all the books...well def the first 3 by book 4 i was so bored i was really tempted to pelt the book at a wall :teehee:

I don't think anyone is missing anything by not reading the books - the Tv show does a great job of keeping things tight and with good pace..If you're into long winded expositions, descriptions about things and people you could not care less about then yes, give the book a shot :thumb_yello::aah:

That being said i still have to start watching the show properly..(only saw the first 2 eps when it had just come out) and i'm aiming for next week :das:

  5. For me being a Mika fan and being an MFCer cannot be separated. I joined MFC about 2 or 3 days after I started being crazy about Mika. And I've never tried to look for somewhere else to go to; I've never ever thought about leaving.

(This is again one of these days when I think 'I can't believe I now love Mika even a bit more' :wub2:)

    hear hear!!:thumb_yello:

aww it's been a great day to be a fan today :wub2:

Rushing to make plane to Rabat from Paris. Still in wedding clothes from my best friend's wedding. Never been driven as fast on this road!

What a way to board a plane dressed like this. Sinatra style

most people's best friends are their significant others (allegedly) so i'm pretty sure this is mika's way of telling us he got married...the honeymoon's in morocco...:mf_rosetinted:

  7. All you gay and bisexual people living in Europe or America are so lucky, here in Iran we have death rows for these people.

a few days ago two of my best friends committed suicide because they were gay and they couldn't get married and if they do,they get killed.they were the most amazing guys you can ever meet, and their only fault was being born here.:tears:

O wow that's terrible! So sorry for your loss :huglove: I don't live in Europe or North America and here in the Caribbean we still have laws against sodomy on the books..fortunately they're rarely enforced but their mere presence signals that the LGBT community is still comprised of 'illegals' and 'second class citizens' ..groups are working hard to change this but the resistance is strong..people think once nobody is being killed for being gay then everyone should just shut up be quiet and be content. I feel your friends' hopelessness :( It's like that in some parts of Jamaica, but thankfully nowhere near that bad in Guyana (where I'm from) or Barbados (where I live now)

I think that once the USA legalizes gay marriage it will cause a domino effect for the other countries.

I think eventually it will but it will make things really harder in the short-term for a while. Politicians love to say that the US pushing the 'Gay Agenda' is another form of colonisation and choose that as the issue they would push back on for the 'moral good' of the country. What utter BS! The reason many of these post colonial countries even institutionalized stigmatisation of gay people in the first place is because of colonisation and now they hold onto the laws of their former oppressors (who have since evolved on gay issues mind you) as some sort of badge..:sneaky2:

It's sickening, but that's politics..and religion for ya...

I really dig the way the way he looks from the waist up but that pants is hideous!!:naughty:

I see that traditional Korean pants are voluminous but yikes! :aah:

  9. Interestingly, I've been listening to Radio Disney a lot lately (I know, a shocker, for me :naughty: ) but I've been thinking that Popular Song might end up there, since Ariana is a Nickelodeon star, and that's the sort of music that Radio Disney plays (you know, Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, One Direction, etc.). So today I see that they are conducting a 'PICK OR KICK' poll to see listener reaction to Popular Song! Currently, it's at 63% "PICK". :thumb_yello: They also say they'll be playing the song starting this Saturday at 7 p.m. Here's the link if you want to vote for the song:

link keeps redirecting me to latinodisney and even why i try clicking disney radio from google grrrrrr:sneaky2:

  10. Heard about the leaking of the DVD in America? (or something) I know people have been giving out spoilers eeeeks EEKS.

I saw that! Normally I don't mind spoilers but this time I no wantey

Plus if it doesn't get out moffat said he'd give us a treat :(

  11. I don't have the DVDs but that's a great thought. Thank you! I too will likely have to travel to see Mika. My husband even said he'd come with which means myself, hubby and my daughter will be attending. I just hope he'll come back to the U.S. That would be my best chance.

Hopefully your hubby will continue to accommodate. I figure (and say frequently) that it's just Mika...music...it could be crack!

    :lmao: exactly !!

It's great that they'll all be with you whenever it is but you might want to lay down the ground rules before re: q-ing and waiting after... Many MFC-ers have found that seeing a gig with a casual fan is less than ideal :aah:

  12. Hi everyone,

I'm Yasmine,I'm an illustrator and upcoming interior architect:)

I know Mika since 2009,I heard his song ''Relax'' in Virgin music store in France and I fell in love with him.since then,he changed my life,I was a lonely and depressed girl but he taught me to be strong,no matter what happens.

I've never been to any of his concerts, but it's my long time hope, and I wish I can reach to it next year in Italy or France.

I'm so glad to find you all amazing fans:)

Hi Yasmine (one of my fave names!) and WELCOME!!
