1. Ha,I can! :tongue2:

    karma is a b*itch :mf_rosetinted:

My dear disappointed fans, be aware Mika is not killing anyone, he'll be in Italy only for two (maybe three) months and only for a bunch of days each time, that's all.

I promise you we do not kidnap him, we'll not make him play the mandolin or eat pizza all the time, or sing tenor arias. He'll not become a Mafia boss or a thief, we'll not impose him black mustaches or a flat cap.

We'll return him exactly as he's always been. Believe me friends,:flowers2: and do not worry.

    p.s.

    (:italia:)

    :lmao:

i hope u do the bolded part tho - he needs some skin on his bones pronto !:aah:

  2. He modelled for Paul Smith once before he even released his record. Once his music career took off he wasn't faffing around modelling clothes. He was too busy promoting his album and touring.

The Coca Cola bottle was for charity. The Tofu dolls were tied into his whole brand as an artist, the same as the artwork for his albums. Those projects were driven by Mika and shared with his fans. Not driven by some pop star factory and aimed at someone else's audience.

He had every opportunity in the world in 2007. He turned down Canadian Idol because he was busy concentrating on the US. Oh and because once upon a time he claimed to not support these types of shows because it was antithetical to his whole outlook on being a pop artist.

The first gig I went to there was no opening act. They just played this animation.

THIS is what got people so excited about Mika in those days. He truly was the anti XFactor pop star.

i can't see the animation :tears:

  3.

Well he does look ridiculously good in that vid :aah::wub2:

I guess this means any touring after the summer festivals is definitely out... I have no idea how (or if i want to) I'll keep up with mika for the duration of this show, I have no intention of learning Italian ( as if I could in that space of time ) :aah: and I still haven't watched his last appearance on this show... Will be a mika - break for me I guess :naughty:

  4. Thing is, Ariana has a solid fanbase around the world so it will give him more exposure as she is more famous than he is in the US. X-Factor will just give him publicity in France whilst the rest of the world will just look at for the next big thing.

Well she might be more well known in the US (sadly) but in terms of musical credibility, there's almost zero there :aah: no adult music fan will hear of that collab and go 'oh awesome Mika's really making a comeback' :aah:

but I get your point that the potential for exposure is definitely better with arianna...

  5. I can only conclude that we're all fans of a one-hit-wonder who has now turned into a B-rated star with no hope of ever becoming truly successful again and needs to turn to Italian X-factor for money and publicity.

Now if someone could point me in the direction of an appropriate smiley to soften the message, I'd be much obliged.

    ouch that's harsh!!

In any case he can never be a one hit wonder - he's had several songs that topped charts in various countries..:aah:

When i heard about this judging i thought it was a serious 'WTF' sort of move...i can see concerns about it diminishing his credibility, but seriously how much more damage can it do than 'doing a duet with a Disney teen', or 'having the #1 song in France 2 summers ago'? There are differences between a craptastic show like X-Factor and these 'accolades' but these are also things he has done and which impresses virtually no-one...

Because of the time commitment i can understand this move being the staw that breaks the camel's back with long-suffering fans, but for me I'm just going to sit back and observe the ride. I gave up worrying more about Mika's career than Mika, after that whole debacle that was TOOL's (non-existent) promo, so I'll watch from the sidelines and just hope that at the very least he doesn't end up being too maligned by Italian viewers (from what you guys say ppl tend to make fun of the judges) and that at the very best it's all over and done with in a timely fashion and he gets back to the music as soon as he can...

  6. I usually get waves using a curling wand then brushing the curls out but i've been told that heated rollers work really well and have long lasting results! (I'm looking for some good ones atm) :arf2:

Yea but ur hair is naturally wavy/curly :( mine is ridiculous: not very straight but resists curling like its life depended on it :aah: I used a curling wand the other day and in spite of mousse by the time I got to the left side of my head the right side uncurled

I'll try heated rollers tho lemme know if u find good ones! :thumb_yello:

  7. Oh and Mika if you are going to do an island gig in the middle of the ocean please make it a nice warm ocean. I am still waiting for the Fijian gig and will settle for Barbados if absolutely necessary. Even Bermuda will do. :naughty:

yes!! any island in the caribbean will do!!:thumb_yello:

  8. It was so great hanging with you and Nas again. We all come from so far away but it feels like we're a little NA gang now. :teehee:

I have watched this at least a couple of dozen times already. Thank you thank you thank you Christina.

It was so great to see you again and I hope to be back in DC!

Especially if Mika ever plays that synagogue again. It really was the most special venue, and the whole day was memorable -- I don't know if it will ever be equalled, truthfully. I will relive the memories of that day for a long, long time.

You are such a star, Cristina. This video belongs in some sort of Mika archive for all time. :swoon: It was great to see you again, and I'll be forever grateful to you for sharing this video!

awww i miss u guys!:wub2: i love the bit about the NA gang - i'm the southern representative then :naughty:

the vids were amazing!! i agree they should be archived!:thumb_yello:

something has been bugging me - remember when he started rambling on about singing high in the choir, and david's 'little bits'? :aah: what was that lead up to? i can't remember the song or the ending of the story!:aah:

  9. Let's see how good my memory is and see how it withstanded after being in a Mika daze for a while haha:

So he said he wrote "Relax" around the time of the London tube bombings. So he was in a weird place when he wrote the song-- that's what it's about; a message telling everyone to relax and everything. So he went to a club in the East End of London with some friends and they're waiting outside the door because the giant bouncer won't let them in. Then, from inside the club, he hears "Relax" playing. And he just thinks to himself: "f#ck. This is it." His song is good enough to get into this club but he isn't. :aah: But then he says well at least it means they paid for my song (since this was before downloading music was a big deal and this was only out in 7" at the time). So he was just mulling over the strange journey a song can take: from such a strange dark place to a club in the East End of London that he can't even get into haha.

oh thank you for this relating this little story!!:thumb_yello:

i never get tired of relax stories, i think i can listen to mika recite stats about the song and i'll still find it exciting :aah:

Thanks everyone for ur pics and reports:huglove:

as the last gig of the tour this one was bittersweet to read about :wub2:

  10. I haven't lived in Europe since prior to 9/11 so I can't really say whether attitudes are changing there or not but I am not so sure that anything he's mentioned here is due to humility of the Americans. Call me cynical but I suspect it's all about self interest - on the part of his friends who are now struggling to see a bright future for themselves because the European economy is in the toilet and on the part of Americans who don't want to foot the bill for these wars due to their own economic woes.

agree esp with the bolded part...it's interesting really, in some ways I think the opposite of what he said - growing up- the US and esp LA- was a place i couldn't wait to visit! Having seen countless movies and read books indirectly espousing american liberalness, i thought it would be a fantastic place, but the Bush era severely disillusioned me (or maybe i just came out of my bubble :aah:) and it's only now the US is staring to regain some of its shine for me - largely because of new york...

i waited to comment on this article because i wanted to read it in English before i formed an opinion...it's not one of my favorite columns, not necessarily because of the content (though that contributes) but I think his writing here is a bit uninspired and lacklustre..sorry mika! :teehee: but it's good i guess that he doesn't put out magnificent pieces every time - gives me hope for me :aah:

  11. I went to the YT link and now the positive comments outweigh the negatives.. That's a good corrective step :thumb_yello:

I really don't get these 'fans' if it's not Dita hate it's thinking he's no longer gay cos of the kiss :aah:

I'm not a big Dita fan at all but the vid was great and the pics are stunning!! It was a cool little thing to do and I'm glad he did!:thumb_yello:

  12. Yes, she was very sweet, we were so happy for her! :thumb_yello:

Yes! She was so patient and sweet! Before the gig I was just shocked she was only going to hang around outside but after the gig I felt so bad she was so close but still missed something so amazing I really wanted her to get some quality time with him... Seems she did :wub2:

    Amazing pics Deb!!!

The venue was beautiful inside & out and very clean like Mika said. He told us some venues have cockroaches so bad you have to kill them to keep them from getting in the clothes wardrobe. I ended up right in the seat i wanted (first row, in direct sight of the side of his perfect face) though i later switched w Raquel when we were all standing.

i think i got a video of most of the mikeless end of Happy Ending. i was so thrilled about that, i wouldve been content w/ just that bit of mikelessness cuz thats like my fave song :wub2: However, then he did Lola WOW it was completely mind-blowing. guess i never realized how much the microphone distorts. gosh his pure voice and all his emotion matched with acoustics of that venue and how quiet the crowd was sltakfmjolginj! omg i think everyone there knew how this treat was just magical. ... But then it happened again with Stardust. I was like 'omg i think Mika killed me w Lola and now this is heaven'

crap, just thinking about this has me all giggly and fangurly like :mikalove: i feel soooooo lucky

. i gave him smth to sign & made a fool of myself explaining it and prolly didnt tell him thank you for the special night. As he stood there looking at me and i talked i had to fight back the urge to shove all my money into his hands (i had at least a handful of crumpled up bills in my purse from all the buying of reasons to use public restrooms during the queue times xD) to begin to start repaying the debt i owe him for that great gift.

one more thing, when Deb & Christine found out i was just gonna go hang out in the train station for 4 hours until my train left they were willing to stay around and we went out for a drink (and ofc fangurled) :huglove: thanks so much, that really meant a lot!

I HATE roaches! Esp flying ones - they might what the demons in hell are - so when he said 'and when they start flying , that's when it's really trouble' or to that effect I felt we bonded in mutual flying roach issues :lmao:

I love ur description of the mikeless-ness :wub2:

OMG afterwards I felt like bowing or kissing his ring or some huge extravagant gesture in gratitude!!

  13. I'm up! Looks like I might be first after all  I'll try to present thoughts in some coherent fashion but please excuse me if I resort to randomly typing letters XD

So the venue was great even from the outside. I got there around 12 and was third in line. There was a ledge to sit on, shade and perfect weather! By around 3/4 the crowd started picking up ( which I got a RT about :excite:) and then by 5 it stretched soooo far around the block we got worried about them letting people in through the side entrance. Deb had a talk with the box office ppl though and put our fears to rest :thumb_yello:

Mika was late getting to the venue so we thought things would get pushed back. I worried about it running too late since I had ppl waiting on me to give me a ride back to where I'm staying. The door opened not too long after 7 however (!) and getting in was a breeze. They'd placed extra chairs in front of the first row of pews and those are the seats we took, about 3 feet or so from the stage. The stage was elevated so there was some slight straining of the neck upwards but nothing excessive. You guys have seen the pics I don't need to tell u how breathtaking the interior was! I think it even inspired ppl choosing seats to be nice and civilized. :aah: the atmosphere and crowd was very relaxed and laid back. This was the first time I left my spot at a Mika concert and could go to the bathroom with absolutely no worries! Downstairs they sold drinks- alcoholic and non-alcoholic- and people were indulging but in a very orderly and peaceful fashion.

I missed the opening to the DJ act (thank god! :aah:). They shortened the act however, and generally the crowd was less receptive to the later songs than at LPR, but people seemed to be having an ok time.

    Then *he* came on ...!

Started off with GK and the crowd lapped it up. Then he said he felt very clean, especially as how he was in a dirty night club the night before (:sneaky2:). I can't remember which song came next but by the time it came to Emily, he started singing then stopped after the first line saying he ****ed it up because the words are in English but he's thinking in French XD. Then very surprisingly the crowd started shouting at him to sing in French. I mean they went wild! He was confused and had no idea what they were saying at first but then finally got the message and sang all of it as EMD. I have no idea why Washingtonians seemed so hell-bent on hearing French version EMD :aah:, but by the time it got to danse, danse, danse, everyone was on their feet (but still in front of their seats) and everyone remained standing for the rest of the gig.

Then it was Lola. He started off singing with a mic and then switched it off...then had a sudden inspiration to take the mics off the piano as well. He said we'll try this experiment but had no idea if it would work then a girl yelled that yes it would, we would all be absolutely silent. He looked at her and teased 'who you?!' 'Is that the voice of someone who could be absolutely silent?' :naughty: But try it he did. :fangurl: I was shocked at how obedient and silent the crowd was. It was the definition of people enraptured. And I thought it was the best sounding crowd ever too; when we had to sing back it sounded almost like an angelic chorus. Listening to Mika sing without a mike was...fdidigpjdgsudtu... It was an emotional fulfillment I didn't know I craved until then to be honest...

After Lola the crowd went WILD.

I'm so sorry I can't embrace the order of songs, but after he did stardust acoustically too ( a few songs after Lola) it was obvious the script was out the window and he said as much. He was thinking on the fly. At one point someone asked for his hand, and he was like why? I should give u my hand *just* because u asked?! Then added that he has done worse just because some asked however :naughty: that cracked us up! Then he said his family visiting from Virginia and in the audience must think him such a rogue :aah:

By the end I so wasn't ready for it to be over :( then he did over my shoulder to close and again the crowd was enthralled.

I left the gig in the daze. People are asking me if I enjoyed it and obviously I did but I feel weird saying I did because it was more than having 'fun' or 'enjoying' , it was like a religious experience, a creation of the perfect storm of setting, audience and artiste that will likely never be repeated. I was at a loss for words.

Outside there was a whole mass of ppl waiting to see him leave, and we thought if they mob him he'll prolly just go to the car without seeing many. Fortunately, someone frm the venue came out to say we should form a line and to the order side of where we were. By the end of that process everyone who was first in the q earlier ended up at the very last of the line, which is only fair I guess :aah:

He came out after abt 30 or so minutes and ofc everyone kinda swarmed him but to my shock he stayed, talked and signed it all! ppl starting dispersing as they got their moment with him and against all expectations we at the back reached up to him. I had him sign my ticket and told him thanks for a transcendent experience. He touched my shoulder and said thank you with what I didn't doubt (for once :aah:) was actual gratitude. Then he obliged deb with just the sweetest favor which I dunno I If can talk abt yet.. he signed a fan's songs of sorrow saying how valuable those are becoming and that he's trying to buy them back on eBay :aah:

He saw every single last person waiting and took pics with some young girls who looked like his distant family or friends of his family. I think he felt the love from that crowd and decided to repay it with his time. :fangurl:
