  1. It should be obvious to all by now what Mika's real job is. It doesn't matter what he said in Brooklyn. I'm sure we all have things we'd rather be doing than our money-earning jobs but I still have to go to the office most days even if I'd rather be going to gigs.

    I think you mean that:

At some point he said "It's good to be back to my job....this is my job!"

I agree. He said the same thing in Naples one year ago. One year during which he's made two weekly tv shows and only a bunch of -private- gigs.

I used to be a dog trainer back in the day and I quit for several reasons. Now I happen to help somebody with their dogs here and there, and when it all goes smoothly it's very rewarding, so I might occasionally say "it's good to be back to this". But I never say "it's good to be back to my job", cause I am full aware that I'm an employee now, even if I'm still into dogs and stuff. This doesn't imply that I'm not good at it, nor that he's not good at it. We even might put more effort in it since we aren't jaded. But our job is a different deal.

  2. I enjoyed the Voice last year, I enjoyed XF the previous ones, I enjoyed being front row at the auditions

I didn't watch the Voice this year and I'm pretty sure I won't bother to attend XF shows. I don't regret having gone, I had quite some fun, but once is enough.

I'd probably be watching it because my husband and I enjoy chatting about it, and that's it.

I'm glad Morgan won't be there, although I'll miss my favourite tweet target. He was so skilled in making a fool of himself.

I wonder how they will deal with Skin speaking English (I guess?). Please don't get a translator, subtitles would be fine.

Him tweeting so much about XF and with so much enthusiasm right between the two NY gigs was a bit confusing. Like a tremor in The Force I felt.  :death1:

  3. I didn´t like the short films for TOOL

    Me neither.

The words and the music ARE the story... Nothing else is needed!

My bad, I should have said movie, but I was trying to avoid to repeat it for the zillion time :biggrin2:

    So, it would be:

But the thing is, if you tell people you just released a short movie, people guess what? Expect a short movie.

Then they get a kind of selfie, which is good and intense, but they still get disappointed cause they went for a film.

Words and music are not a film.

I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying that this is not a movie. Hence to claim it's a short movie it's kind of weird.

  4. peter lindbergh had an easy job there!

:yeah: He didn't step away from his comfort zone, I guess :teehee:

But he had Mika dump suits and fashion and make up for a while, which is good enough for me to support this guy's choices. He went like"ok, I'm doing this video for you, but you need to drop that ****. Do we have a deal?"

I like the outcome they got.

But the thing is, if you tell people you just released a short movie, people guess what? Expect a short movie.

Then they get a kind of selfie, which is good and intense, but they still get disappointed cause they went for a story.

When I watched Hozier's video of Take me to church, I expected him singing but I got a quite emotional, involving and upsetting story, so I was like woah.

When I watched Mika's video I held my breath but I ended up with almost nothing. Luckly there were some intense emotions as well, so they kind of saved the day, but still....

  5. It took me forever to get to see it (thank you bad internet connection) and I was like: ok, here we go....

Half way through it I went oooo-kay... here we go?

Then I realized that THAT was the short movie.....

It's probably my fault, when I read "short movie" I expected a movie which happens to be short, not a singing pic.

Which was good, I like his performance there, but I wouldn't call it a short movie.....

  6. These days it would be almost impossible to write a song that doesn't resemble some other song from recently, or way-back-when.

    Is that so?

It's getting his name out there again. All publicity is good. Let them go for it. Sensible people will just pity them, because they have nothing better to do with their lives, than slag off Mika.

    Sensible people will just say...

    "Hey, Mika's back! Let's have a listen.

    Then later...

"When can I download the new Mika song?"

I think I have some language issue here. I don't get how being sensible is related to liking Mika.

Let's face it, Mika fans and not fans will mock him FOREVAH here.

In Italy Sarà perché ti amo is considered trash music.

    I'm still thinking about that.

Yeah, I forecast many tv shows will mock him, and radio stations as well, along with my husband and my friends.

Every random italian gets immediately aware that the two songs are related since the very first listening. I'll try to have my mom listen to it and see if she can relate Talk about you with sarà perchè ti amo. That will be the ultimate test, if she spots the ressemblance, then that's it, there's no way out.

But I'm not sure that will be a total failure.

Everybody, deep inside, secretly loves sarà perchè ti amo. But no one would ever admit it (but me), cause it's kind of lame. But it's cute and lighthearted and funny and catchy. And it strikes a chord like all those old items do (say floppy disks, telephone boxes, Glo Wormes, Belle and Sebastian, Popples, and omg Care Bears :wub2:)

Talk about you might give them a great excuse to feel that vibe with no shame. No one really cares whether the two songs sound alike, except us, who like to talk and argue about Mika's work.

Of course, that wouldn't help him to get a great song writer status, but I don't think he really ever got that halo. People don't think about him as a Freddy Mercury or Bocelli, they think about him as a cute and lighthearted and funny singer.

So, I'm not sure that this song wouldn't work in Italy.
