I will be going with the hubby who I think secretly loves Mika, but won't necessarily admit it.  He's a good sport about it though.  He really enjoyed the Montreal show in September.

I'm worried the show won't sell well?  It's not that big of a theatre and there's so may seats left. God forbid he gets some promotion around here!!

I hate ticketmaster and don't trust them, so I don't have any constructive advice @mairbear.

Same!! There's actually quite a few seats left... about half actually. It'll be heartbreaking if he's performing in a half empty theatre but we'll have to just bring twice the energy 😤

It's just too bad that everything central and within a reasonable distance is sold out... *sigh*

@Sivan How'd you manage to get such great seats right before the show? Please share xD

Don't get me started on ticketmaster. It's basically a scalping site now lol. "Official Platinum" pffft

  2. I'm Canadian and I gotta admit, I completely forgot Mika existed until I started watching The Voice France ... Like @ladyolivier said, it's perfectly plausible to live a pop-culture-literate life without knowing Mika. Ever since I re-discovered Mika, I've been trying to promote him amongst my friends and many of them do remember Grace Kelly but had no idea that he continues to make music  They like the songs enough but they forget about it if I don't bring it up. And Mika doesn't appear on any radios, tv shows, or even advertisements so of course they'd easily forget.

I'm really hoping that he promotes his new album effectively. Of course, I think he's kinda in a difficult position. His music is, for a lack of a better word, a peculiar flavour of pop and I'm not sure if the mainstream will accept the sound of his album. This means that he has to promote the style of the album as well as himself which I imagine must be quite difficult.... I hope that sort of makes sense. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't know if US/UK is ready for Mika

  3. @Kumazzz Lou Mai yes! Her voice is really strong and bright... Colour of Rice on the other hand... I think her voice is a little shaky  I think maybe it would be better if she sang a song with a faster tempo / shorter notes....

@frenchfan84 What are your opinions of Audrey and Emmy? :mf_rosetinted:

  4. @crazyaboutmika

So.... I'll start us off with my top 2 favourites, I'm sure there were others that I liked but these two were the most memorable to me.

    From Mika's team: Vincent V

He was the guy who couldn't see very well. He had a very positive and funny attitude that I enjoyed a lot, and is especially inspiring to see in someone who could be considered "disadvantaged". He also had awesome piano skills, I think even Mika was impressed :D

    From Florent's team: Nathalia

YMCA!! My favourite dance song still despite how many times it's been played. And she put a very very interesting and original spin on the song. It seems like a very difficult song to perform since it's so well-known but I think she did a great job. And her sense of style is top ^^

I'm excited to see who the coaches will put against each other in the battles as well... I wonder if Mika is crazy enough to put his two teams of 3 against each other :lmfao:

  6. Heeyyy fellow Canadian! :)

I'm in entirely the same boat. Discovered / rediscovered Mika a few weeks ago and became OBSESSED. It's a good obsession though isn't it? Watching his videos always makes me smile ^^
One day he might even come here and then we'll be able to see him live....
    :wub2:
    Anyway, welcome!! :D

  7. Thanks everyone for the welcomes <3

@Gabry74 No need to be sorry. It's lovely there's a translated version! I can't watch the episodes yet cause I'm studying for exams right now but these translated episodes will be a great reward for when I'm done :thumb_yello:

  8. If I absolutely had to pick one it would be We Are Young from the Kick Ass movie.

And this isn't my favourite song, but it's definitely the one I relate to the most at the moment since I'm about to graduate from a professional degree and I'm both excited but also scared to take on the world. Listening to We Are Young gives me a nice energy and confidence boost :)

But honestly I love so many of his songs and they mean different things when I am in different moods....

Thank you Gabriella! That topic is amazing!! :o

Can't believe you guys translated the shows... <3

Although I don't see them with the Italian subtitles.... are those there as well? I'm still hoping to find the subtitles in Italian because that'll help me learn... :)

  10. Hello / Salut / Ciao~

I'm Maria~ I'm 24 years old, Canadian but born in China. I guess I'm a bit of a wanderer like Mika :P I moved to Canada with my family when I was quite young. I've also spent quite a bit of time living in Quebec and France! Very happy I know French cause it looks like he's doing most of his work in France (and Italy) now. I love learning different languages so I'm working on Italian now... (if anyone else is learning I'd love a study buddy!) Also...does anyone know where I can find Italian subtitles of Stasera Casa Mika?

Anyway, I actually first knew about Mika back in like... grade 5 when my french teacher made my whole class learn "Elle me dit" ... which I hated at the time :P I appreciate the lyrics more now but still don't like the music of that song. I prefer his lighter melodies in say.... Happy Ending or Staring at the Sun. Kicking myself for not looking into him more back then cause he's done so many performances that I could've attended... :( Seems like I jumped on the Mika train at an inopportune time actually cause he doesn't seem to have many performances booked this entire year, but better late than never! I joined so I can stay up to date and find fellow fanatics :) Please talk to me xD I'm kinda weird but I'm friendly! ;)
