Greetings from 30,000 feet! Another couple hours before my plane lands and I touch down in London! So excited I can’t stand it

All the paper flowers look great. I brought tissue paper so we’ll see what can make of that.

Real flowers have been ordered and are supposed to be delivered to Mika’s dressing room by mid-afternoon on Wednesday. Should look something like this only bigger!

looking forward to seeing a lot of you tomorrow night for PIZZA! And the rest of you on Wednesday for MIKA!

Could this week get any better? :biggrin2:

I am also travelling to the UK! Can't wait for our gathering tomorrow!

    Gorgeous flowers 💐great choice!

    See you there 🇬🇧

I could imagine TV can prerecord plain air concerts during a dressed rehearsals just in case the weather is bad the day of the live concert. It already happened in French TV..

But I've just found that Mika had a private concert yesterday!!!!! For Start People,

So this is another reason his performance was not live.

The reasons why sometimes TV shows record in advance (1 or 2 days before ) few performances are mostly due to conflicting schedule of the artist, not for rain. And clearly this was the case of Mika last evening :lol3:

    Private gig where? Paris?

OMG his schedule is crazy but he has A LOT of energy :wink2:

    Yes, it's quite unclear.

Well, it's not a problem for me. It looked really "live" on TV. Essential is that Mika arrives in a good condition on IOW :original:

But if really he was not in the arena tonight - what a deception for his fans.

I also thought it was pre-recorded.

But actually it seems live on TV.

I remember attending the Music Awards in Verona last September and many artists recorded their performances the day before but my parents at home watching TV thought they were live😅

Basically at the Arena we saw their performances on the screen but no one was on the stage. And yes, many fans were disappointed...

I will try my best to be there @dcdeb

I promise. I am already looking for flights on 19th with arrival in Bristol on 20th morning. I don't want to miss our dinner. This trip is so important to me🙏🏼

Update: since this italian strike seems to be quite extended, my original flight will be easily cancelled. So I just booked two new flights MPX-CDG on the 19th (evening, because I have to work during the day) and CDG-BRI on the 20th morning. 200 EUROS guys

But I will be able to attend the dinner and the concert of course. I couldn't miss this chance❤

    See you in Bristol !

So is it live? Or was it prerecorded yesterday? If it's live, where was Mika going by train today? And can he arrive at the Isle of Wight in time? 😅 Or did they maybe just prerecord Mika's parts?

I was wondering the same. He and Vianney might have pre-recorded their performance. IOW is not so easy to reach, it takes time. But with Mika anything is possible:lmfao:

Please get your videos in early!  I know they'd like as much time to edit them as possible!

I sent you a direct message @dcdebbecause my email is not working. Libero Mail is stuck, again. 😭

I was figuring out how to send my video.

    Thanks

OK, so for real flowers, since we're short on time (at least I am!) I'll see if we can get them delivered and order some, and will collect from everyone once there.

Also, I've seen that Bristol Sounds finally published their FAQ:

    https://mailchi.mp/crosstownconcerts/bristol-sounds-2023-info

Some of the most relevant points:

The bar and food court area will open every week day at 5pm to the general public, no ticket necessary until 30 minutes before official door opening time. No food or drink can be brought into the site – but please feel free to bring your own empty water bottles as free water is available on site.
Please note all bars are CARD PAYMENTS ONLY.

    PLEASE DO NOT BRING:
    - Flags
    - Chairs
    - Any professional recording equipment or cameras
    - Dogs (yes , some people think you can!)
    - Any food or drink (bars and food units are available)
    - Umbrellas (they make it impossible for people behind you to see, sorry)
    - Anything that could be used as a weapon
    - Sensible sized back packs and bags will be allowed but will be searched at the main entrance in the interest of everyone’s safety.

Ok thank you Deb, I will be available if you need some cooperation for the flowers purchase/order. I already googled and saw many beautiful bouquet/baskets. :mikalove:

I love cheesecake, so OK, outrageously good cheesecake for me, if you need to pre-order it. Otherwise I'll take my chances.

And thanks for getting the time extended @Hero. I think we'll end up there until 10 at least!

About the flowers -- I have lots of tissue paper, but no skill or time... I'll try to do something ahead of time, if not I'll at least bring the paper. Thanks, @Anna Ko Kolkowska !

Now... about REAL flowers? Someone asked me if we wanted to give Mika some. It's not something we usually do at a festival, but I suppose we could order some if you want? LMK!

Hi @dcdeb  that's fine to me:yes:! Mika always appreciates flowers. I was wondering if it's possible to deliver flowers to the venue, from the picture it looks like there is no real backstage (there is water behing the stage lol) but I suppose there is necessarily a dressing room or something like that.

    image.thumb.png.01b1e6394736c61a0e7c509652e83e1f.png

I googled florists in Bristol, there are many, like these ones for example:

Local Florist Bristol | Same Day Flower Delivery | Roots Floral Designs

The Flower Shop Bristol , Gloucester Rd. Same Day Flower Delivery

Lily Violet May – Lily violet may flowers

Concerning @Anna Ko Kolkowska fan action, it looks great! the idea is super cute! But I won't have much time,  I will work until Monday and leave on Tuesday. I will arrive in Bristol in the late afternoon, like 5 pm. So I think I will have time to help you only on the gig day. Btw I will try to be useful:wink2:

I wasn't referring to his reply about money, I agree with you there... but to this:

He's afraid of losing everything he has - but he is no longer afraid of losing the people he loves. So what is he most afraid of losing? Isn't it rather the people you're close to, who can catch you when you fall, to help you through the pain of losing something (or someone)? Probably he doesn't just mean money and houses by "everything", but it's part of what he has.

But, reading it again, maybe this is the specification of what he meant by "everything":

So it would be rather "everything I have achieved" instead of "everything I have".

It seems he is torn between living his creativity the way he wants to, and taking too many risks, that might cost him more than just money.

I tend to agree with you. I read the interview more than once (in italian of course) and I think that by "losing everything" he meant everything he created with his mother and his family, that dream world which always gave him the sense of value. His artistic career. His potential in creating projects. This can also indirectly include money and houses but I interpreted his answer in a larger sense.

Concerning his words about losing people we love, I guess he meant that he already experienced this sorrow (especially when his mother passed away) and now he knows that it's possible to survive and go on, to find the strength to face his new life without someone he loved so much. He was probably saying this with tears in his eyes.🥺

Now more than ever, he needs to feel capable to create (music, songs, a new set on stage, a piece of theatre...)

I found this interview very deep, honest and meaningful❤

I was wondering about the VIP ticket. But while checking some older photos I thought that the VIP zone will be in the "back" over the audience as on this photo. But maybe I am wrong. It's standing and the only additional thing is a separate entrance and some drinks.

On this photo I don't see any special places on the sides. Only a roof in the back area.

Pizza Margherita for me, please. :) Do they also need to know about the dessert in advance? I'd say whether I'll have one depends on how long we'll stay and how big the pizza is. :lol3:

Thanks! Hmm, I somehow thought that the VIP area would be on the side, not at the front... not sure if I read that somewhere or if I just assumed it, because that's how it usually is at festivals.

Do any of you have VIP tickets?

No, I have a normal ticket. I thought VIP tickets were close to the stage but on the two sides. Not in the front. But each venue is different from the others, so who knows🤷‍♀️

You look like you were sat very close to the stage.  It reminds me of the Magic Numbers gig in London, when we just sat round the piano.

Yes, the white pillows were all around the stage and I managed to find one in the front and sit there. I don't know how the Magic Numbers gig was (but it must have been amazing 😍). This was a very little intimate venue, in a garden.

I hope Mika will do more of these acoustic shows,  with tickets available to a larger audience. 🙏🏼

Hi everyone, I would like to spend few words on this magical intimate event. Firstly I privately thanked my friend who gave me her ticket and transferred it to me on the Dice App. Without her, I wouldn't have attended this gig. Then I want to thank the MFCers who shared with me this lovely day in Milan.

It's the first time I've attended an acoustic show by Mika (piano-voice) so to me this experience was really special.

Compared to a "regular" concert, he played the piano a lot more, sometimes together with Vincent, sometimes alone.

He made a brief introduction to thank the sky because it had finally stopped raining and then he started to sing.

I loved the new piano arrangements he and Vincent made for Lollipop, Ice Cream, the Origin of love, Elle me dit, Relax and Underwater. And I was so grateful that he sang Toy Boy, Blue, Over my shoulder and No place in heaven. These songs contributed to make the concert even more emotional and intense.

Of course he ended the gig with Grace Kelly and thanked the audience and Piano city for the invitation.

In conclusion I can say that I felt really privileged to be there and I really hope he will make more acoustic shows in the future, possibly open to a larger audience.

I made some videos but I have to check their quality. In case it's acceptable I will post something here.

I am having some issues uploading the entire videos so I will share some extracts of the songs he sings less often. Toy boy, Over my shoulder, No place in heaven and Blue💙
