Hi guys! I was just able to buy a standing ticket through Ticketmaster and I’m SO excited to attend!! However, I just managed to get one ticket so I’m going by myself, and would love to join any fan meetup if that is happening at all 🥰 I’m 29F btw!

    Hi :)

There's an official pre-gig party being planned in this extra thread:

Head over there for more information and to let us know if you're attending!

I just looked that up on Wikipedia. Certainly NOT a movie I would watch. But I like the message behind it, the criticism of the people who put money and power over everything, the ones who deny global warming and scientific facts. Mika doesn't get political, so I guess there won't be too much of this left in his show - but maybe he'll keep a little bit of it, I'm curious. It's a very interesting concept, and yes, ambitious, as he says

The part about "don't look up" worried me as well :sweatdrop:

The movie is genius, I'd highly recommend it but it's a tough watch!

I think the similarity he meant in the interview is that he wants to explore the different ways in which people might react to impending doom / the apocalypse. Despite the political message it's a movie that shows a diverse set of characters reacting in a broad variety of ways and that's what Mika references in the interview.

An interesting concept for sure, I'm definitely excited if slightly scared...

But of course, I'm very glad you're on board Charlotte!

Aw of course how could I not mention that I am obviously delighted to be doing this together with my MFC fiancée

does this mean you won't be in the NC any more? :teehee:

CJ and I will have to put in extra effort to be on our best behavior from now on. If all fails, we'll have to send each other to NC ofc!

This is the video I was talking about during the Live, where Mika talks about what he has on his Rider!

    Around 3:55.

There's another moment that I love from this though at the end (at 10:10) where the host says "Coming up we'll be talking to a man who makes a living out of rubbish music" and Mika starts laughing :lmfao:

  6. Ciao Arianna and welcome! :)

There are so many different people here with wildly different interests (and Mika as the one common one), I'm sure you'll find your people!!

I absolutely love Casa Mika, it was one of the things that motivated me to look further into his work as well (and to learn Italian).

We don't seem to have a "Bingo!" emoji so this will have to do  :thumb_yello::winner_first_h4h:

I've always found it funny btw how the pride flag emoji is winking?! :rainbow:

It looks so happy about being gay and it's honestly such a mood.

Anyway... moving on to something a lot more wholesome I watched lately and that is 'Love, Victor'

Yes it's been a while since I watched this but I remember liking it. It's a bit more realistic and mature than say Heartstopper or even Love, Simon which it's based on of course.

I'm watching Ted Lasso, and, as someone who grew up in the Midwest, all the midwesternisms make me very happy!

Love Ted Lasso!! Such a feel-good show. @jatspeedy actually said that with the mustache, Mika looks like Ted Lasso and she's not wrong :D

I have just found out we have this super fantastic thread and I would like you to ask, if somebody knows the piano chords for Pick Up Off The Floor. I have tried it for so long time now, but didn't reach any good result yet. tanks xx

Yes, I play that on piano all the time!

    I use these ones: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/mika/pick-up-off-the-floor-chords-1691485

There's a singers thread too btw if you ever wanted to share what you're working on ;)

  10. Oh my goodness, this just made me laugh so much :lmfao:

Also just noticed for the first time how similar it is to Moi, Andy et Paris. I mean I did realize it had the same underlying theme of "we want different things" but totally forgot that some of the arguments are exactly the same. "T'as voulu la campagne, on habite à Paris"...

Having a good chuckle catching up with these threads and counting down the days until I see Mika again for the first time in 14 years! 🥳

That's really cool, I hope you're gonna have so much fun!!

I was also in a real Mika mood today (I mean when am I not) and played and sang Lollipop to my 2yo babysitter child. Never too early to give them important life lessons, you know. We then sang some other songs (German nursery rhymes) and started playing something else when he asked me if we could listen to music. He specifically requested sth in toddler gibberish that sounded like "sai-luh" to me and for the longest time I couldn't figure it out until I realized he was saying "Say Love" and wanted me to play Lollipop :D

He then also wanted to watch a video so I showed him the I love Beirut performance which he liked. When everyone joined in at the last chorus he smiled and said "See, they all sing it: Say-Luh" and I just about melted :wub2:

  12. So I just returned "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand (which Mika mentioned as one of his favourite books) to the library. Not because I finished it, but because I just couldn't bring myself to continue reading. I do feel like I gave it a fair shot as I read about a third which is already about 400 pages.

I found it intriguing at the beginning but things quickly started to fall apart for me and when I started doing research into this book (to make some sort of sense of it) and discovered all the controversy around it and the author, I disliked it more and more. I suppose there's no point in getting into the details (unless someone else here has read it) but I will say that I am absolutely fascinated by the fact that Mika likes it and I would love to ask him why.

My best guess is that he likes it BECAUSE it voices a worldview that is very different from his own. He often says that he likes hearing the opinions of people who think completely different to himself. And I highly respect that, I think we would all get along much better if we had the ability to listen to each other with curiosity and openness.

This still absolutely doesn't explain how a severely dyslexic, artistic person got himself through reading a 1200 page glorification of capitalism soo he certainly keeps me on my toes!

(Which is probably not true… it has so much sugar that I think it will probably taste still okay, just fizzed out!)

That's what I've been saying!! I honestly don't think it will be much of an exciting experiment.
You definitely won't die. It's not gonna be super delicious either though. Or give you superpowers. (Sadly. I still love the idea of having a super-wife).
