  1. Ah you're right that feels like fire was slightly different.

I just remembered that he had Max sing the first verse as well. On the other dates he only joined in during the chorus.

And Mika even let him sing some lines on his own, the "oh my god" and "I feel cold".

There's a video of it on youtube now as well:

And his microphone is definitely turned up more than in the previous shows. I thought it had just sounded differently to me because well it was live.

Beautiful in any case, I'd also love to hear a full Mika and Max version :)

The new Feels like Fire from Amsterdam with Max is so much more beautiful to me than the (in my opinion at least partly) lip synced old version. So much more lively and dynamic!

Wait I'm so confused that everyone is saying this is a new version that he was doing yesterday.

Max has always sung the Nomfundo part in the first part of that song, I just checked a video from Clermont-Ferrand :D

Yes! This was an amazing start! I was confused and wondered if Nomfundo was there and would suddenly appear, but then @CharlotteLtold me it was indeed Max!

I'm so happy you shared this, I wasn't sure if it was ok to tell that story but it was honestly one of my favourite moments from the whole show.

The way Michelle literally gasped, excitedly turned to me and asked: "Waait is she here???" and I was like "??? ... That's Max!" :lmfao:

I also have to add that Michelle's daughter is one of the funnest concert companions I've ever had. Not a dull moment before the show!! I hope I'll see you all again soon.

No worries, but the list is really long honestly, maybe opening a dedicated thread where we can list all the threads that bother us/you would be more appropriate. Or maybe we'll come back to you by email in a few weeks while we take stock of everything.

Sure! Maybe it'd be better if you sent me (or another mod) that list privately because I imagine if you post it publicly there will immediately be a huge discussion about whether and why certain threads are (in)appropriate.

There are only a few of us here who make the effort to use the forum to initiate discussion, but many young people won't, and a dedicated live session could bridge the gap between forum members and young people in the networks.

Yes I know. I mean I like the idea of having a conversation although I do not like the idea of discussing these serious topics publicly live. Maybe a zoom or something would be better.

Again, I'll have a think about it!

  4. Hi everyone :)

I haven't gotten involved in this discussion so far. I've been following and doing a lot of thinking though.

I agree with CJ, I think us mods will have some internal discussions first about some of the bigger, structural concerns raised here.

But in the meantime, I really appreciate the constructive criticism and encourage you to respectfully express it here instead of twitter or other platforms where we can neither see it nor do anything about it. I can only speak for myself, but if I don't reply right away, it means I am digesting and carefully considering what I've heard and what I can do about it. Not that I don't care.

I would be particularly grateful if you reported specific posts that you think are inappropriate or told us about old threads that you stumble across that you think contain things that violate the guidelines.

  5. I don't really have any good videos or photos to share since I was "an angel" in the back and also just focused on enjoying the show.

And I definitely succeeded in that! :D

I have to say, I feel similarly to the others who are sad that he only played one song from the new album. It was an amazing show, but didn't feel much like the Apocalypse Calypso Tour anymore.

I loved him singing Bougez partly in English, I thought it was a brilliant "shocker" to open the show with and a sweet nod to his non-french speaking audience. But I think it would have been enough, he could have easily kept as many French songs in as he wanted after that, the audience would have been just as captivated. I particularly don't understand the choice of keeping Elle Me Dit in but not any of the new French songs.

With that out of the way, the show that I actually did see (as opposed to comparing it to the one I was maybe expecting), it was as brilliant and fun as always. The audience was completely mesmerized, singing, waving and dancing along, from the first row right up to the back of the balcony.

The fanaction for Talk about you with all the colourful hearts was a great success. It looked amazing from the back as if every single person in the pit had one, it must have been hundreds and hundreds. Mika loved it as well and praised the fan who made them for presumably staying up all night cutting them out. I met her afterwards and she was over the moon.

Despite missing the French song I loved all the songs he picked instead. Singing Rain on the Club Apocalypse sign was a brilliant choice. Hearing Billy Brown live for the first time was very emotional for me and Good Guys is one of my favourites as well.

There was also the usual amount of Mika mayhem. The inflatable rainbow got stuck halfway which looked hilarious. He asked Wouter to translate "enfants terrible" into Dutch which took ages until Mika impatiently said "He plays drums fast, but he talks very slowly". Max got lost in the crowd during Big Girl and Mika had to announce "I lost my bassist" once again.

I think they really used the smaller space of the venue well. I was surprised they still managed to fit all the important props on stage, the cage, the piano with rainbow, the Club Apocalypse sign. All brought together by the animations which he creatively reused for the English songs. Billy Brown had the animation of Moi, Andy et Paris but without the Eiffel tour (if I'm not mistaken) and Lollipop used the ones from Sweetie Banana which I think were altered slightly as well. There was an additional set of bananas in all colours of the rainbow on screen at one point which I don't remember ever seeing during Sweetie Banana. Correct me if I'm wrong though and just missed that before. But if I didn't and he really added it for Lollipop, that's hilarious and I would be dying to know the thought process behind it. Did he think "Mhm what animations could we use for Lollipop. I suppose we could just use the ones from Sweetie Banana. But how could we make them a bit gayer?! Ah I know... rainbow bananas!!" :lmfao:

So, as for the balloon fanaction for Happy Ending in Berlin - I now have:

    40 white LED balloons

    100 earth balloons

180 red and white heart balloons.

Are any of you bringing more? The heart balloons are available at TEDI in packs of 20. Are any of you in the seated places and could take care of the "distribution" in that area? (I think it's enough to put the balloons in a zip bag, write on the bag to take one and what song it is for, and hand that around)

    Sounds awesome!!
I'll keep an eye out for more balloons but can't promise anything.
Would you like a financial contribution though as the earth balloons are so expensive??

Oy, it's a change.org petition. They are obnoxious. My experience with them has been that once they have you they harass you to death. I no longer sign anything of theirs. But don't let that stop you. I am not an internet kinda gal in that way, too old and tired and curmudgeonly.🤷‍♀️

It's not a petition anymore! The thread got started for that purpose but then it coincidentally got announced that the show was gonna be officially recorded anyway. So it's definitely happening! Or well it already happened! ;)

His concert hall concerts seem to be more regularly produced for official airing than his regular gigs. Much better for sound quality but not nearly as exciting or energy filled.

Do you mean the symphonic concerts like the Paris, or Versailles or Sinfonia Pop one?

Maybe because they get recorded more often because they're rare and special occasions and require so much effort and rehearsals for every single one?!

I mean the energy and everything is very different from the regular concerts for sure, but I don't find them less exciting. Just different. Buch each to their own :)

Anyway, did you hear that the concert in Paris yesterday was officially recorded?!

    We're talking about it here:

For other official recordings, the only open air ones I can think of are Parc des Princes and Francofolies (I couldn't tell you for sure though).

If you mean regular concerts in general, not just specifically open air ones, it's more.

  9. Random thought since we were talking about playbacks in another review thread...

I was watching a clip of Moi, Andy et Paris where he stopped singing because of the rainbow surprise and I couldn't hear recorded backing vocals in that one (just Max's voice). So either he uses them differently depending on the day or generally not as much as the other clip made me think ;)

Anyway, the fanaction was wonderful and brilliantly done!!

I remember back in 2016 in Strasbourg, I showed MIKA a sign 🪧 with the writing: "Deutsch" (= German) on it. He recognized the sign during the concert and pointed at me. After the concert he asked me if I am the Dutch person and I was like: "NOO, I AM A TRULY GERMAN FAN!”

Tbf that's pretty tricky even if you're not an English speaking person with dyslexia, reading it from far away! :D

I thought about buying white Paper and draw something like: Please sing Lola or Porcelain or Promiseland, etc.

Sure you can always try and hold up a sign to "request" songs.
Wouldn't call that a fanaction though. A fanaction is a group project, where the whole audience does something together. This thread is for organizing that ;)

So Mika decided to help he to liberate from this unhappy ending. We were making a noise and Mika said that now Lea has been liberated (from her past)

Ah yes, so I understood that right! A really nice moment :)

What was the french phrase that she used (and that Mika kept repeating)? I cannot figure it out for the life of me and am just curious to improve my French.

Now thinking of Happy Ending on this tour, it really breaks my heart to see the destroyed planet on the screen. So I was thinking, how can we "heal the world" with a fanaction? And I found these earth balloons

I absolutely love this idea, Karin!!

I don't think it's confusing. Sounds like we'd have balloons to represent the world, peace and love. That's quite a clear image isn't it?!
The only downside I see is that the earth balloons are so expensive, otherwise it would be cool to have loads of them.

  13. Well you have all listed about 10 good reasons and I think all of them would make sense, so I don't think we'll find a definite answer.

I think it could mean some changes in how he uses social media but it doesn't have to.

I doubt he uses it to interact with anyone anyway. We know he doesn't use it to interact with fans and I highly doubt he uses his public account for private conversations with friends.
