Encore sans titre, le disque est annoncé comme plus mature. "Le premier album traitait de l'enfance, a-t-il récemment expliqué au magazine anglais Q. Cette fois-ci j'ai voulu vieillir le monde et les personnages sur lesquels j'écris depuis dix ans." L'enregistrement a débuté l'été dernier aux studios Olympic puis s'est poursuivi en Californie avec le fidèle producteur Greg Wells. Un maxi, Songs for Sorrow, sortira le 25 mai. Si les paroles sont annoncées comme "sombres et passionnées", les chansons devraient retrouver la flamboyance du premier album puisque Mika dit avoir développé une "obsession pour les bandes originales de Disney des années 50". If the lyrics announced as "dark and emotional", the tracks will maybe remember the first album's (blazing) pop influence because Mika says he became "obsessed with Disney soundtracks from the '50s".
