Hey hey heeey! :D

Yeah, this thread is about.. LONDON BABY! :mf_rosetinted:

As i couldn't find a thread about it, i thought i would make one!

So, the point of this is, I'm going to London in about 1½ month and..

Where should i stay? (Cheap is well prefered!!)

What should i go see?

Which bars/pubs should i visit? (Vintage is a plus!!!!!)

Anything else i should know? :)

Hope you all wanna help me as i may be travelling alone!

I'd be glad to help, although I'm not a born Londoner, I live here and I know some lovely and fun places that you might find enjoyable.:wink2:

If you don't wanna spend a fortune on accomodation you should look for a youth hostel - they're usually quite cheap.

I prefer discover new places, not just the popular areas, there are many nice things to do in London. Cafe Vintage could be a good choice to have a cup of tea with a slice of cake, if I were you I'd visit some markets like Brick Lane market (you can find vintage treasures!!!), Camden market or Portobello market - here's a useful map: http://www.streetsensation.co.uk/markets.htm

Public transport in London is really expensive, a bus ticket costs £2.30, the best you can do is to get an Oyster card or travelcard (http://www.visitlondon.com/travel/oyster/ and http://www.tfl.gov.uk).

If you've got any questions, feel free to ask:D I'm happy to help

What is a vintage pub? I mean isn't just about every pub in London vintage? :wink2:

For cheap accommodation...what is your budget? One man's expensive is another man's cheap, or something like that. :naughty:

What do you want to do? i.e. what are your interests? Are you looking to go shopping? Check out museums? Shows? Go on walks?

For me the #1 must-see tourist attraction is the Tower of London. Take a guided tour (included with your admission ticket) with a real Yeoman Warder who will give you a real feel for the place. The crown jewels are housed there and you can't go wrong with that. :thumb_yello:

hmmmmmmmmmm....no. :aah:

Thank you! (soory, for long waited answer!)

We'll be staying at a Hostel, The Green Man, just around the corner from baker street! As the Sherlock Holmes museum is on our must-see-list! :D

And a beatles shop next to it, is just amazing! :D:D

We'll be there for 2-3 days (Unfortunately, not longer!) And will arrive on the 29th af February! :)

Our to see list so far is:

Chinatown

Camden Town/Market

Sherlock Holmes Museum

Abbey Road (Far, we know!)

London city Centre (Big Ben, London Eye, Tower Bridge etc.)

We are planning on buying a Oystercard when we arrive (Train from Gatwick to Victoria, and metro for the rest xD)

We read that Hoxton should be a great place with bars/pubs and so on?

We've never heard of Hoxton before, soo xD

Sounds cool!

We will be staying around Edgware Road st. and Paddington st. :) Pretty central for what we wanna see so far, and VERY cheap! :D

London! I would want to return there an other time! It's my favorite place all over the world!! I've gone there already 2 times, but always in a group traveling...

I have a question : does it's possible to try driving at London when you have a license of somewhere over the world that the conductor is at the left (London, the conductor is at the right)?? Must we have an international driving licence or something temporary "for only one try" si avaliable? If I return at London, I would want to try driving one of those cars. :roftl::mf_rosetinted::biggrin2:

That's one of my biggest wish! :mf_lustslow:

- Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Trafalgar Suqare, Buchingham palace during the changing of de guards, Harrod's, Big Ben, take a hot dog close to big ben :aah:, Wesminster abbey, go at one pub, baker street, take a cab, telephones, red bus, british museum... are good ideas. (I've probably forgot if I saw anything else...)

Happy trip to people who will go at that fabulous city! Enjoy!

Anyone who knows what the cheapest airport transfer is?

We're arriving at Gatwick airport around 8.30 am and it all seems to be so damn expensive!

Anyone wanting to pick us up and drive to the city?! Ahaha, just kidding.

But any suggestions??? :)

Have you tried EasyBus?

http://www.easybus.co.uk/london-gatwick

I've only ever taken a train but there is a bus station at Victoria as well so I guess that would be your cheapest option. The EasyBus goes to Earls Court which is pretty convenient too.

Yeah, i guess that's about the cheapest :)

Been looking at it before, so yeah :b I guess that's it, if we don't wanna pay like 80-100 pounds on a taxi xD
