  1. I'm just getting a white page of code. Is there maybe a previous page that leads to this link, that I could try? Thanks. CW.

  3. I haven't seen this posted here, or don't recollect... Three videos to download: - My Interpretation - Love Today - Grace Kelly and picture gallery VIRGIN RADIO Zoo Session: Mika Mika has been at #1 with his debut single for ages now. He came to Virgin Radio HQ to perform an exclusive session the week his album's released. Watch it here! Watch our exclusive Zoo Session Mika came in to Virgin Radio HQ to perform three songs from his debut album, 'Life In Cartoon Motion'. Tall and slim, with an accent that veered between classy London and cosmopolitan international, the chart-topper looked comfortable in front of his piano. After quickly stripping off his green shirt to reveal a simple white t-shirt, he performed a break-up song 'My Interpretation' and a happier song 'Love Today' before ending with a fantastic acoustic rendition of his smash hit single 'Grace Kelly'. Wonderfully quirky throughout, it's a performance to behold. Despite bemoaning his songs being difficult to perform, Mika played them absolutely brilliantly, backed up by his guitarist and fellow songwriter. --- CW,
  4. Please don't touch Ticket Tout site with a barge pole. Cliff Richard appeared on Watchdog a week or two ago, and was very upset for how his fans had been treates and ripped off. http://www.rip-off.co.uk/archives/ticket_tout_24_10_05.htm CW
  5. I spoke to Seetickets Saturday night and they said there would be NO tickets for public sale - that it sold out completely on the pre-sale. I see that Birmingham has now sold out. CW.

  9. Hurrah Cw BBC NEWS Sunday, 11 February 2007, 18:58 GMT TOP FIVE UK SINGLES 1. Mika - Grace Kelly 2. Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby 3. Just Jack - Starz In Their Eyes 4. Fall Out Boy - This Ain't A Scene 5. Mason - Exceeder TOP FIVE UK ALBUMS 1. Mika - Life In Cartoon Motion 2. Bloc Party - A Weekend In The City 3. Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High 4. Norah Jones - Not Too Late (pictured) 5. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black Pop newcomer Mika is celebrating after reaching number one in the UK singles and album chart simultaneously. The Beirut-born singer's debut album Life In Cartoon Motion entered at number one, while lead single Grace Kelly spends a fourth week at the top. The top three albums are all new, with Bloc Party and Fall Out Boy at numbers two and three respectively. Leeds-based rock band Kaiser Chiefs are the highest new entry in the singles chart, reaching number two with Ruby. Other new entries in the Top 40 come from Justin Timberlake, 2Pac, Jessica Simpson and hotly tipped indie band The Long Blondes. The highest climber is Nelly Furtado, who jumps from 37 to 19 with Say It Right. Other singles rising swiftly up the charts include Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape and Take That's Shine, which climbs from 30 to 17 - leapfrogging their previous hit, Patience, in the process. In the album charts, Norah Jones falls to number four after a week at the top, while Amy Winehouse sits still at number five. Lesley Garrett's ballad collection, When I Fall In Love, is a new entry at 11. Download attempts Next week's chart could see several older songs returning to the Top 40, as fans try to exploit recently changed chart rules. Since January, all downloads count towards the singles chart - no matter when they were released or whether a CD single is out. Morrissey devotees have started a campaign to get the singer's recent album track Life Is A Pigsty into the top 40 through download sales. And a website called It Should Have Been Number One is hoping to send Oasis' Roll With It to the top of the charts. The song was originally beaten to the top slot by Blur's Country House during the Britpop "war" of 1995. Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has already managed to manipulate the rules to get Billi --- CW.
  10. We were just discussing this at home. It's like he just has to pitch and away he goes, and from falsetto into baritone like that. Most singers have to nurse their voices... He opens his mouth... and there it is. It must be down to all that rigorous terrorising vocal training. He doesn't appear to have to get up in the morning and think "Do I have a voice today". Well I hope that they will make his venues smoke free and look after that unique instrument he has there. There is a lot of comparison with Freddie Mercury, though Mika easily sounds exactly the same whether in a live or studio situation. Pitch-perfect and quality consistent. Yet, to be fair, we haven't heard 2-hour shows yet. CW.
  11. Keep missing the beginning to press Record... so having to play it round again.. the hardship of it all. Sigh. Hi Angelic and Babspanky. We should get out more !! CW.
  12. Hi Strudel Where on-line, Strudel. Have you posted in Downloads on here? Do you mean on BBC website... if so we're ahead of ya'... (link posted last night on this thread.) ) CW.
  13. I haven't seen any footage. I hope that Mika has someone chronicing all this. CW. ... I mean - nothing apart from youtube footage. Not seen anything that looks anyway official.
  14. THE INDEPENDENT By Simon Price 11 February 2007 Outside the giant tent erected in Berkeley Square, the trees are illuminated pink and officers of the Metropolitan Police are holding back scores of fruity freaks in veiled toppers, ballgowns and feather headdresses. Inside the big top, circus sideshows (acrobatic tumblers, a silver ring juggler, an aerialist on a giant ribbon, a balloon sculptor) and unlimited free toffee apples, popcorn, candyfloss and booze have been laid on. But they're superfluous: even without them, the carnival atmosphere would still be here. There's a tangible crackle in the air that you only encounter when you're in the presence of an artist whose moment is now. This isn't just a celebration of the release of Mika's debut album, Life in Cartoon Motion. It feels more like a coronation and coming-out ball (in whichever sense you prefer). Or, as he puts it, "the 10th birthday party of my dreams". In a few short months, Mika has shot from being a MySpace phenomenon playing small gigs to a cult following, then bypassed the normal staging posts of critical acclaim and hipster approval and leapfrogged straight into the hearts and minds of the Radio 2-listening mainstream. Mika is very good indeed. It tells you something that the worst song tonight is a cover of Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin'". The falsetto disco opener "Relax, Take it Easy" is effortlessly memorable, and the lanky troubadour - looking equal parts Gilbert O'Sullivan and Little Alex from A Clockwork Orange, with his tousled locks, white clothes and braces - never looks back. "Billy Brown" is the stompalong tale of a gay dad hiding behind the "beard" of a wife. Even better is "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)", an exuberant cocktail of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls", Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and Scissor Sisters' "Tits on the Radio" which - much like the women it addresses - wishes to have its cake and eat it. Ostensibly a sincere chubby-chaser anthem joyously urging the listener to "find yourself a big lay-dee", it also has the air of a sly mickey-take and one can imagine it being adopted by playground bullies. But Mika, flanked by a pair of stunning zaftig cherubs in stetsons strutting their funky stuff, has the charisma to get away with having it both ways. Similarly, the encore of "Lollipop" bravely resurrects the neglected genre of singalong skipping-rope songs (Shirley Ellis, Malcolm McLaren, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes), and floors you with its sheer audacity. As he leaves the stage, Mika picks up his discarded shoes and waves them. They're silver. -- CW.
  15. SUNDAY MIRROR 11 February 2007 CAUGHT LIVE! MIKA Siobhan Grogan In Berkeley Square, London IF you like your music serious and fun-free, look away now. Mika Penniman has already attracted disapproval from certain dour critics unsettled by the fact they weren't required to give permission for the 23-year-old newcomer's runaway success. Regardless, Lebanese-born Mika's rise to stardom seems unstoppable now. He came from nowhere to Number One on downloads alone with the brilliant Grace Kelly and is currently enjoying his third week in the top spot while the rest of the country wonders just who this deliriously joyful newcomer is. Just a handful of the curious packed into this T Mobile street gig in a circus tent in Berkeley Square to see for themselves. This wasn't your average concert, and it featured free popcorn and toffee apples, circus performers warming up the crowd and a man making elaborate hats from balloons. "Welcome to the 10th birthday party of my dreams," said beaming Mika when he finally arrived, dressed all in white save his yellow braces and shock of dark curls. He switched between jigging around and waving his arms like a demented Sacha Baron Cohen, and sitting down for some flamboyant Elton John-style piano, all the time dazzling everyone with his spectacular falsetto voice. A lanky star with flailing limbs should have looked out of place on stage, but with Mika somehow this only added to his considerable presence. He virtually oozed cheery charisma as he sped through one perfectly-formed pop song after another, kicking up his heels in time to the disco beats and making Scissor Sisters sound positively miserable. By the end, Mika was standing on his piano stool, orchestrating a jubilant singalong to Grace Kelly like he couldn't quite believe his luck. When he returned for an encore of Lollipop, huge balloons appeared for the crowd to bounce above their heads, while Mika was joined on stage by (who else?) men in comedy monkey suits and cheeky burlesque dancers. All told, it wasn't a night that will be easy to top but, somehow, you just know Mika will think of something. 19. Thought it was only going to be the two songs, but left the red button thing running and went into film. Wouldn't hsis make just a brilliant video / DVD. People would by it in droves. I wonder how long it will take them to get round to releasing a DVD of some sort. All these bits of TV around the would would make a fantastic archive DVD. "The Making of..... MIKA" CW.
  20. Those 'doe eyes' would appeal to anyone. Sigh. CW.
  21. Right - watching The Mika Session - but got message that recording not available when in Interactive application. CW.
  22. Cherisse has played with Simply Red and so young. CW.
  23. Luke Juby - Piano / Keyboards Martin Waugh - Guitar Michael Choi - Bass Cherisse Osei - drums CW.
  24. No on line goodies for Mac people. Grrrr.... What have we done that they ignore us... and no where to report any problems, which is worse. Feels like blissful complacency to me. Someone on the mikasounds board said they had read 'on Mika's own page' (presumably myspace?) that there would be vinly of the album to order. Anyone else heard this or know anything? I am a vinyl freak. More chance of lyrics being printed on a vinyl album sleeve than in a CD book - usually. CW.
