  1. I remember when a bag of crisps were 5p. God I'm showing my age now. My problem is, I work from home, I have to use the computer to get delivery notes for jobs I do, I then get overwhelming urge to come to this site, I can't help it I'm SOOO weak willed, then I find myself still on it when I should be somewhere else, then I panic. I need help SERIOUSLY:roll1:
  2. Blimey, I gave someone a good idea, I need to lie down for a bit Miles Hunt is the lead singer of The Wonderstuff, was quite a big fan of them myself for a while, saw them again last year but it wasn't quite the same. It was funny because the guy I was at school with, I saw at Live8 (I won two tickets for the Gold area right up at the front), but found myself too shy to talk to him, probably just as well as REM were on at the time and he was walking along with his son, and he started Dad dancing! I felt his son would be embarassed enough without some strange woman coming out of nowhere shouting "remember me":roftl: I worked in a hotel in Manchester a few years back and met Larry Blackmon, the singer in Cameo, really nice guy, John Ratzenberger, Cliff in "Cheers", Richard Coles from the Communards who was very encouraging to me (I was doing a sound engineering course at the time) and Jeremy Brett, who played Sherlock Homes, again another really nice person. We had David Bowie there too, on his Glass Spider tour, but didn't get to meet him, he had REALLY good security. I was there in the evenings, checking the rooms had everything they needed for the night, (even put mints on the pillows) but the security guy wouldn't let me in the room, despite my best efforts to assure him I wasn't some mad stalker. He did however try to persuade me to give him some extra mints, Ha ha, NOT A CHANCE. No room check, NO SWEETIES! My 2nd cousin went to school with Stephen Gately from Boyzone, who's parents still live around the corner from my cousin.
  3. OOOH, keeping everything crossed (though it will make driving difficult, ha ha). I would be great if he could make it five weeks, put him on track to have the biggest selling single of the year, and it's only February. Do we know about the album charts, 'cause I think Bloc Party could be the ones to do the most damage to his position.
  4. Well I never, Mika at the same school as Dido, Gavin Rossdale and Helena Bonham Carter no less. My only claim to fame is being in the same class as Tony Gardiner, the guy from "My Parents Are Aliens" (Brian, the dad) and "Lead Balloon" (Michael, the cafe owner).
  5. Oh phooey, now theres tea everywhere, didn't put it down first.
  6. NOOOO! I usually watch it when I'm home and today I didn't. I want to cry.Any way of it being put on here without any one getting sued?
  7. Thanks for the heads up. Are the in the same building as Radio 1, because if they are, and should he be No1 again, he wouldn't be far away from JK & Joel to have a live appearance on the Chart Show, instead of them calling him on the phone. Result!
  8. Thats a really good review, he was impressive back then too.
  9. I have an update on one family member, my middle nephew has now heard the CD all the way through, and thinks it is quite good, although he thinks Grace Kelly is a bit boring (that was until he heard me singing along to it, and now thinks I'm clinically insane:roftl: ).
  10. Hey Mika Mad, I too have a fair distance to travel (it should take me about an hour and a half to get there, unless I get a run up there in which case I'll get there earlier), so don't despair.
  11. I've got a ticket for Birmingham (and I'm VERY excited), and if anyone else is going it would be great to meet you before the gig.
  12. It's great to finally hear from him. It's absolutely fantastic that he has taken both charts by storm, as he was up against stiff competition in both. I hope he finally got some sleep, jet lag can be nasty.
  13. Is it just me or does Martin look a bit like Tom from Kasabian?
  14. WOW!!! I am so glad I joined so early in the game, this totally rocks. Good work to all who make this such great place to visit, and you have an arcade on here which I've never seen on other boards I have been to, which I love. I can't say that I know who is on the Mikasounds site, as although I have registered, I cannot seem to get onto the forums. It's weird! I can get into the secret society though.
  15. I know it probably sounds a bit lame, but songs played on soaps usually get peoples attention. It would have been better if it was on Eastenders, although Emmerdale it catching up. If he gets played on CSI, he'll have definitley made it.
  16. Thats a good festival to attend, he'll get lot's of exposure there, The Kaiser Chiefs and The Arctic Monkeys did well there.
  17. London or Birmingham, equal distance for me, so I'm open. It would be nice though if they could swing down to the West country, and not just for Glastonbury. We do have good venues here, Carling Academy and Colston Hall in Bristol, Westpoint in Exeter, The Oasis in Swindon and loads more I can't qute remember just now. Just a thought.
  18. I have noticed bits of things from songs or tunes I recognise, the one that jumped out first was the first bar of "My Interpetation" reminds me of the Dawson Creek theme.
  19. Does he not cover this in "Stuck In The Middle" 2nd verse?
  20. Apart from the aforementioned some people having too much free time, how the heck did someone get his address, unless it was a friend trying to wind him up, I'd be a bit worried.
  21. You know every time I hear this story I cannot help but laugh so hard. This is Simon Cowell, a respected A&R man in his time, a man who discovered many top acts, A MAN WHO USED TO DRESS UP AS A DOG!!! I don't know if anyone else remembers, but Simon Cowell used to be a recording artist called WonderDog. He dressed up in a costume of a super hero dog and recorded a single, all sung in barks!, yes he barked like a dog through the whole song. This is why as soon as I heard Mika's story about their meeting, I nearly fell down the stairs laughing, pot calling the kettle springs to mind. And knocking Leona off the top, deep down must have been the sweetest feeling in the world after all that.
  22. This has to be the most intelligent interview I have read yet, very informative, not biased and incredibly interesting, much kudos to the interviewer, and to Mika for being so open, although it wasn't as brutal as his, I got bullied at school too (I was smaller than most people in my class, so I was fair game, but I was lucky to have a couple of large friends who, when around, would intervene) so I do feel for him.
  23. Kudos to Michel for that. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against healthy looking size 8-10, but this size 0 trend where you can actually see their skeleton can't be good surely. As for the line "Diet Coke and a pizza please" it makes me laugh, cause when I go to the local takeaway I always order Diet Coke, not because I think it will help me stay slim, but because I like the taste.
  24. Wow, this is fantastic news makes me happy that I made the trip to London to go to the HMV gig now. Congratulations Mika.
  25. Works a little slow at the moment, I wouldn't be adverse to accompanying him around on Valentines day, even got my own transport if he want's to have a drink (I'm used to being the designated driver)
