  1. Another song I would like to hear him sing is '39 from A Night At The Opera, it's the one that Brian sings and it is really beautiful.
  2. I would like to ask him if he would do a cartoon of me, I was going to ask him at HMV, but alas it was not to be.
  3. I hope he gets on David Letterman too, and I hope ITV2 start showing it again soon. They show the edition aired in the U.S. the previous night, but I haven't seen it listed for a few week.
  4. Oh my god, I can't believe I forgot Stuck In The Middle, I beg forgiveness, my utmost apologies:shocked:
  5. I hope when he does, he has the choir singing with him, that would be stunning.
  6. I just want to know what his favourite car is, a bit bizzare I know, but being a driver I kind of like knowing these things (mines a Bentley by the way).
  7. When Mika first got to No.1 he was interviewed on the Radio 1 chart show and he was in the U.S. doing some shows, and his cousin was with him while he was being interviewed, so he got her to introduce Grace Kelly for him. It was quite sweet.
  8. OOH now your asking, that is so tricky because after listening to it for the millionth time I REALLY love every one of them. I guess if you pushed me to the wall about it I would have to say 1. Grace Kelly, because I can't get it out of my system, 2. Love Today, because it makes me bounce around like an absolute nutter in my van, and scares other motorists:roftl: 3. Big Girls (You Are Beautiful), because I'm a bit of a chubster and it's nice to hear a song dedicated to us larger ladies. 4. Happy Ending, so soulful and heartrending. 5. Billy Brown, such a happy song. 6. My Interpretation, best song about a break up I have EVER heard. 7. Lollipop, another really bouncy singalong song. Now this is not to diminish the other songs on the album by any means, Over My Shoulder is beautifully haunting (reminds me of Anthony and the Johnsons, whom I like very much), In Any Other World, an amazing story of a brave woman, Relax, a great dance track and Ring Ring, another brilliant pop song. So this is why I have trouble picking just one.
  9. I think this was the same review Brian May ranted about in his website, and I can see why. I have had many healthy debates on my musical taste, but I draw the line on getting personal about an artist, as I don't know them therefore I cannot comment on them. So for this "reviewer" to carry on in the manner he did, was a little nasty. I'm sure that Mika has probably heard worse, but he shouldn't have to, especailly from people he doesn't even know. I also read some of the comments underneath, all I can say is that these people remind me of the people who used to bully me when I was a kid, they think they are more superior and don't care about any one but themselves. If their criticism of the music was structured, I could understand it, but some of them were just being blatantly nasty and hurtful and I find that incredibly offensive. Sorry to go on but I hate bullys, guess even after all this time it gets to me.
  10. WOW! Great footage, looks like everyone had a brilliant time. Wish I could of gone but couldn't get a ticket, but only a couple of weeks to Dublin so I'm just counting the days. I must say, it seriously looked like the Flaming Lips concert I went to a couple of months back, with everybody in costume on the stage. I reckon that before he gets to Glastonbury, Mika won't have to worry about singing Grace Kelly, 'cause we'll all be singing it instead, he can kick back and have a cup of tea, and just get up to do the "Kerching" at the end.
  11. Sending out lot's of love to Brian, this is someone who has seen and done things these "writers" could only dream about. It's good to know Mika has someone of Brian's standing on his side.
  12. I think he should do the whole of "Walking In Memphis".

    Album

I have it on my cd player in my van which means it will be on pretty much all the time, only two other CDS have had that honour, The Scissor Sisters TaDa, and JC Chasez's Schizophrenic. I do love pretty much all of it automatically, a couple of them I think will be slow burners. Grace Kelly is a given, I love it to death, Relax, Love Today, Happy Ending, Billy Brown, Big Girls and My Interpretation come in a very close second. The track before Ring Ring reminds me a little of Anthony and the Johnsons, which is a good thing. Overall I think it is a brilliant album, not because I'm biased, but because it caters to my love of anything quirky with killer hooks. And the artwork is really well presented in the same quirky fashion, I love it. I think Wayne Coyne(Flaming Lips, one of my idols), has got SERIOUS competiton here.
  14. I don't think my family get him. I won't tell you what my brother in law said after seeing him on the Culture Show, my sister isn't quite sure, my niece still doesn't have a clue who I'm talking about (although she is a huge Scissor Sisters fan so there is hope), my eldest nephew thought his performance on the Culture Show could have been better and my middle nephews girlfriend finds Grace Kelly a little high for her to sing along to. I nearly got into a blazing row with my brother in law over what he said, but I had to go out on a late delivery, so when I got back we had both calmed down and agreed to disagree. My friends, again no clue, but I have the Culture Show on tape for them to watch so fingers crossed.
  15. I do like the shot of him lying on the cabinet, very hot, but my favourite parts are when he is waving the flourescent lights about, it so reminds me of the Christopher Lambert film, Subway, so cool. And everyone and their cat dancing around at the end, looks like alot of fun.
  16. Freddie Mercury will always be THE No.1 Rock God, and I'm sure in time Mika will be the Crown Prince of pop (watch your back Mr Williams). They both have their own uniqueness in what they do, so I don't feel disloyal to Freddie, he will always be the King of Queen to me.
  17. I have to agree with the other unhappy people on here, although I didn't get there myself until just before 6pm, as I had a LOT of trouble finding parking that didn't require me remorgaging my house (eventually found a spot by the other HMV shop ten mins down the road). Luckily my best friend bought me a HMV card for christmas so I only had to add 95p to it, so I walked around to see where a shorty like myself could stand without needing a box, and found a spot over by the Dvd's on the left hand side. I had to jig about a little to get a reasonable view but I have had worse. I was really looking forward to the signing, as I got cold feet at the Culture Show shoot, and I had my questions ready to ask, then I saw the screen saying no signings today (gutted). So I thought okay maybe he'll be on for about 5 or 6 songs, after song 3 Grace Kelly, he apologised telling us he had to go to the T-Mobile gig straight away (gutted again, as I'm on T-Mobile and registered for tickets, but heard nothing, as with the News of the World yesterday and Mikasounds too). I agree with the others, that it's obviously not Mika's fault, he was brilliant tonight (thought he sounded a little croaky when he first spoke, so kind of worried that his voice might give out) and he did admit that he found the breathing a bit hard when singing (I think that was because of the song structure, I think he has the lungs of a whale). Whoever is organisng these promotions needs to ease up on him a little, otherwise he could burn out. I know that the promotions need to be done, but he is only human. I know most all acts have to do this, but seeing this first hand, it makes me see how hard this business can be and maybe the record companies should step back and start slowing down a bit on all of them, they'll still get their money, but keeping their acts fresh will give them more shelf life, and keep us, the fans happy. All I have to add is I'm looking forward to going to Dublin shortly, and hope he is not too exhausted, because the radio stations are already talking about the next single, so more promotion...
  18. I called HMV this morning (Saturday) and I was informed it is not a wristband event, you just turn up. Probably best to get there early though, to avoid disappointment.
  19. Great screencaps, but you missed the shot of his reflection in the piano, I thought that was cool. I caught a glimpse of my back in the Patrick Stewart segment, kind of glad though, I wasn't looking forward to seeing myself on screen, I can understand now why celebs don't like watching themselves on TV. Mika was amazing, it seemed funny seeing it, knowing it was about the 6th take, and it was a shame they didn't film the banter he shared with the audience , it was hilarious.
  20. OOH this is a good question. Other artists I like are; JC Chasez, very underrated, in the shadow of Justin Timberlake (check out his CD Schizophrenic from two years ago, very eclectic.) Scissor Sisters, just love Babydaddy. The Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne IS a genius. The Killers, Ronnie Vennuci greatest drummer on the planet. The Guillimots, love the way they make a big sound with just a few people. Kaiser Chiefs, great sing along mini anthems. KT Tunstall, she is simply brilliant. Basement Jaxx, best dance act ever. Groove Armada. Supergrass. Prince. And of course Queen, who gave us the most beautiful song ever, '39, on A Night At The Opera.
  21. Just watched the Channel 4 interview, where he performed, Love Today, Lolipop girl, Big Girls (You Are Beautiful) and Grace Kelly, talking in between about the songs, how he started his musical journey and his hopes for the future. It was a very entertaining 20 minutes, and he had two little green stripes on his cheek while he performed, made me think of Adam Ant.
  22. From what I heard the other day, it's looking like a third week this week. God I love this song.
  23. Unfortunately, there are always going to be people out there who are in there own insulated little world, who can't accept people for who they are and just like to hit out at them because of it. It's sad, but the best thing we can do show Mika lot's of love and support. Personally I couldn't care what his sexuality is, I was drawn to him through his music, I didn't even know what he looked like until three weeks ago when I first saw the video, which I love for it's energy, (and the cool fluorescent lights, very Subway, an old Christopher Lambert film for the uninitiated). I do think he is very good looking and charismatic, at the filming of The Culture Show the other day, I have to admit it was very hard not to stare (but my mother brought me up not to, so I didn't). He was really nice and polite to all that he talked to (again too shy to approach, but I'll be at HMV next Monday so I'll have to get over that), and didn't appear to mind people talking to him. As for the flamboyant/camp tag, one of the most flamboyant artists in recent history is Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, I cannot recall any saying he was camp, but maybe I'm not reading the right papers. I have to say that when I think of Mika, I don't think of any of the things that the press say about him, I just think, is there enough room where I am, to jump around when Grace Kelly comes on.
  24. As Jo Whiley eloquently put it this morning, Mika shows you how to pull off carrying a manbag correctly. I don't see a problem with men having bags like this, it is the 21st century after all, if The Sun have trouble keeping up with the rest of us, thats their problem.
