  1. I think a musical would be fab, but first I want some more albums and new music and loads of rocking tours from him!!!! Musicals kind of suggest the end of or slowing of career. Dont leave us yet Mika!! But then again we love him because he is an individual so whatever he does will be right!
  2. Yay someone who is going to Shepherds Bush!! ? Are you in the stalls? Cant wait..
  3. Good looking version of Kermal from big brother(although Kermal wasnt bad looking)(other half) My two boys make up their own lyrics and then argue who's right... .walk out the door .............the floor .............the ploor I can be brown i can be poo etc.... they love him. I am using him as a role model to encourage them to sing and play music! Requires much whatching and listening to Mika!! Mummy is he famous, do you mean like Robbie Williams? I had to say yes for simplicity sake? He has got two faces(BBC2 seesion on tele , his reflection was in piano).
  4. This vid must be on these forums somewhere, but i havent seen it here, always fun to watch again anyway... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzA0nG_PurQ
  5. Love the bit about Fred's spirit!! sorry if this has been posted before. Also answers the question for those wondering about his gender preference! He prob hasn't decided yet, nor does he need to.. lol Mika "Life in Cartoon Motion" CD Review By Jeff Walsh "Life in Cartoon Motion," the debut album by Mika (released today in the UK, March 27 in the US), is the most assured, infectious first album to come out in quite some time. It is pure pop brilliance. From the opening strains of "Grace Kelly" to the album's coda of "Happy Ending," Mika takes listeners on an aural journey through many styles of music. But each one is done with such authority, it never has the fractured OCD feel that plagues many albums that switch between many different musical styles. "Grace Kelly" is the first track of the album, written as a kiss-off to music executives who wanted him to change his sound. The chorus of the song touches on his identity quest: I try to be like Grace Kelly But all her looks were too sad So I try a little Freddie I've gone identity mad! When Mika sings "Freddie," in reference to Queen's Freddie Mercury, it sounds like Mercury's spirit was with him in the recording studio. It is strange to think one sung word could embody so much of Mercury's style, but it's all right there. One of my favorite things on the CD is the harmonic hum that punctuates the beat after he says Freddie. With Mika currently playing the "I don't want to talk about my sexuality with the press" game, it does make you wonder how long that can play out if his first instinct is to be like Grace Kelly and his second choice is Freddie Mercury. That news angle certainly can't last too long. On the second track, "Lollipop," Mika switches things up, singing a song that sounds like Freddie Mercury doing a sexually-charged "Iko Iko" remake. This is one of those songs where the refrain (Sucking too hard on your lollipop, love's gunna get you down) seems to be entirely sexual, except it doesn't really work when taken literally. "My Interpretation" is a folksy power ballad of a song that showcases his ability to play something more traditional and radio-friendly, rather than witty wordplay and wild falsetto. "Love Today" (currently featured in a Motorola (RED) commercial) is when Mika starts to up the beats-per-minute, and delivers a rocking song that evokes the Scissor Sisters, in the sense of bringing the party, trotting out the falsetto, and being able to write a song that is good as it is fun. "Relax, Take It Easy" is my version of heaven at a dance club. Building on the chord structure of Cutting Crew's "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight," (an old song few people on this site probably know, heh) the song pushes Mika further onto the dance floor, with a simple chorus that permeates your brain and demand repeat listening, and (fruitless) online hunts for dance remixes. "Any Other World" slows down the pace to bring Mika into ballad territory. Again, it seems like I should have whiplash with all the styles and tempos, but for some reason, I am completely on board. "Billy Brown" brings a Beatlesque take on storytelling, with a modern spin: Oh Billy Brown had lived an ordinary life. Two kids, a dog, and then the cautionary wife. While it was all going accordingly to plan Then Billy Brown fell in love with another man. "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)" finds us back on the dance floor, trotting out a tale of zaftig admiration. "Stuck In The Middle" brings it back to Mika and the piano and little accompaniment, showing that all of the flights of fancy he takes throughout the CD are intentional and not window dressing to mask any lack of talent. And the last song on the album, "Happy Ending," really gives you that sense that only great albums accomplish, making you feel like you are completing a journey. With its background singers starting the song with the chorus, the song's slow build provides a framework for Mika's soaring voice and luscious string section, climbing to a gospel rapture before closing on the background singers bringing the song down with the simple chorus on which it all began. A hidden track afterward evokes a deconstructed Radiohead tune, with spare piano, Mika singing way up in his falsetto, but still managing to sneak in lyrics from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." I can't say enough good things about Mika. This is clearly the album every other album in 2007 needs to dethrone in my book. --- Mika on Myspace! Mika's website

    hi!

Hello, nice to have more Mika lovers along. Fab to have someone successful for just being himself. I think we have had enough of half hearted stars!
  7. Did anyone see Queen and Paul Rogers, what did you think? There were a load of Paul Rogers fans loving him so he is clearly adored but I just did not feel he filled the shoes of Fred, but good on him for having a go, he prob did better than most could have! I loved the show anyway, always great to be in the same room as Brian and Rog! And when Paul did one of his songs it was a good time for a toliet break! To be fair to him as now i feel a bit of a cow, i had not really heard any of his stuff before, i only recognised one of his songs, but i have forgotton what it was now...
  8. Hi Cautionary Wife I would love to hear Mika sing Queen Did you actually hear him? I wonder if it is on the net somewhere? I saw Brian May at 3 venues and met him after one of his shows in the BIC. My parents (who were picking me up) reported me+best m8 missing to the police as they did not think to check for me at the stage door, and it was a long wait and it was not like i could just give up when i knew he was coming out to see us!!! Felt v bad, but my fab parents understood! Wish I had said something more meaningful, Anita D was with him too, i got his autograpgh though, so must have had some sense about me! In Grace Kelly there is def a freddie"...satisfy yourself, Hey". I rem Brain saying(on video) that Fred used to get bored in his guitar solo's (that had a tendancy to go on and on... love it!) and that's why he did all those heys and woohoo and yeah etc....what a sweetie his was and now what a sweetie Mika is, so pleased to have new 'real' singer to swoon over. The gravelness yet pureness of the ".........looks so sad" line, is maybe what you would get if you took Rog and Fred and mixed them up together. Love Roger, His concert was fabulous , so amazing to see him as lead vocalist he really exceeded all my expectations. As for Tony Vincent! When i saw it he was really funny and gorgeous and the woman who played(i forget her name, but THE GIRL)was really funny too. All the songs were so wow, love the soundtrack, but do feel bit of a traitor if i listen to it too much! Must be Brians doing! In the BB2 interview , where Mika played a long set, he had a load of moves that looked like Freds, but are yet to be fully utilised!! They def come from within though, he is no copycat and that is what makes him and fred similar. Cant wait for live show. I think Grace Kelly is similar to Queen in the way it bulids up , then goes all quiet and changes tempo, not just one repetitive sound throughout. I think that Queen and Mika are just all musical genius's. Born with the potential to be innovative and very focused minds. Fred and Mika both seem to have had troubles in the childhood and maybe that helped their minds be opened up to all this creativity? Sorry I have gone on a bit!! lol
  9. is there anyone going form this site? We dont have to meet up! I will be wearing my newly ordered badge so you can spo:thumb_yello: t me!
  10. I Id like to talk about how he grew up and what it is like being part of a big family, does he get on with them? ...but i would probably just tell him I love him and then loose the ability to speak!
  11. Thanks, I will have a look at that, and hope to see him. Will brighten up my day with the kiddies, they love him too of course!
  12. Love them all, Grace Kelly and Billy Brown and Happy Ending and Love Today and Ring Ring. They are all fab, a song for every mood....
  13. Freddies Double you have a fab job, how do you find time to spend in the forum, would be duller place without your threads! I am 29, have two kids who love:starwars: I am married and training to be a teacher, live near Horsham West Sussex, Love Queen but like freddies double I am gutted and sad to say i didnt see him in 85 or 86, was too young and not allowed to go! Loved Tony Vincent in we will rock you, his voice brought tears to my eyes. Claim to greatness (or not)....When I met brian may i really embarrassingly told him that I loved him, which is kind of true but not a very cool thing to say. I love ice skating and concerts and music but am tied to the kids most of the time as their servant. They are (at only 4 and 6)loving MIka , I already have they loving Queen. Cant wait til they are old enough to accompany me to gigs, in the short space of time before it becomes to uncool to go with yo mamma! Nice to read about everone:mfr_lol:

  19. Haven't got tickets for live show yet:crybaby: What time are tickets on sale tomorrow, please dont say it is too late...Must see MIka:drinks_wine: going to drown sorrows. Any one know of anymore dates to be added, say in Brighton:biggrin2:? x
  20. Brian is totally fab. The thing about musicians like Queen and Mika is that they are so very intelligent and adore music. It is no accident that fantastic people like this become stars and are worshipped by many, they actually are wonderful and interesting people. I have been a Queen lover for years and year and years...Have seen Brian (and met him!!) and Roger many times in concert and tribute gig for fred at wembely and we will rock you. It is all so fab and I am so very grateful that MIKA had come along to fill our livies with happiness and love.
  21. I thought I would say hi as have just worked out how to do this! I first heard Mika on radio one and it was love at first hear!! So very fab to hear such a wonderful and freddie like voice! I just watched his Radio 2 show on digital and he is fab! He will be strutting about the stage like Fred in no time! I think the show is replaying on digital so it might still be on for those who missed! I cant believe i didnt get tickets in the pre sale for London. Does anyone know what time they go on general sale tomorrow?lol
