The Australian Thread: Party Twenty Three
sweet-dreams replied to nico_collard's topic in MFC International
Did anybody else get an email from Pottermore? I just checked my emails and I have one! Although I still can't get in yet. The main thing it says is "You have been selected for early entry into Pottermore!" and that my account will be activated some time between mid-August and the end of September. Gah! Hope it happens sooner rather than later. But I suppose I don't mind waiting. ^^^- 1,562 replies

I have!! I loved it! Hmm, favourite part.. I'm seeing it again tomorrow so I might be able to give a better answer then, but I loved everything with Snape, as I did in the book. I actually really liked the opening bit with Snape looking out over the students walking in the courtyard that was before the title came up. And the bit in the forest with.. those four people (trying not to reveal anything in case anybody hasn't read the books) was very moving.- 1,562 replies

We're basically dressing up as generic Hogwarts students. So I'll be wearing things that I already own (white collared shirt, grey skirt, black stockings, blue Ravenclaw-ish tie) and my friend, who is pretty artistic and creative, is going to make us a couple of black cloaks and wands. So I guess that's going reasonably far. But I'm pretty sure there will be other people dressing up. There have been a few (around my age) when I've seen the other ones and they weren't even midnight showings. I didn't watch but I've seen pictures, videos and quotes from it today. I loved Emma's dress!- 1,562 replies

It's very close, but I'd say that I prefer the music they made in the 70s. While they became better musicians as the years progressed I preferred their styles of songwriting in the early years.

Wow, so many! Let's see.. Mr Darcy.. (both Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen are fine by me) Count Almasy from The English Patient.. (so passionate!) Captain Von Trapp from The Sound of Music.. (mm, beautiful voice and a sensitive man with a harsh exterior) Mr Rochester from Jane Eyre.. (mysterious!) Dr House.. (or Hugh Laurie in general) Remus Lupin from Harry Potter.. (more from the books, but the movie one is alright) And I so agree with whoever said V from V for Vendetta, especially in the film.. I'm sure there are many more, I'll post them as I think of them.

I love watching interviews with Freddie. He's so charming and honest and he's not afraid to disagree with the interviewer if they're being an idiot. Sigh, he was amazing. Yeah, he wrote it about how he felt about cheating on his then-wife Chrissie with Anita Dobson. I think it expresses how horribly he felt about what he had done (the situation he'd gotten himself and everyone else into) and how difficult he found it to choose between the two of them. He may have his flaws like the rest of us but.. I love Brian.

I actually much prefer Brian's version. Of course, Freddie did an amazing job with it, as he did with all songs. But listening to Brian's version, you can hear so much emotion in his voice and how sad and regretful he was about the situation he'd caused. And when Brian did it live, it was never as perfect or as vocally powerful as Freddie could have been, but it was just so heart-wrenching and he always had tears in his eyes by the end. Brilliant.

Hello everyone! I've decided that I will go for school captain. Even if I don't win I think it will be a good thing to have a go at. Today the deputy headmaster told us that we have to give a 1.5-2 minute speech at the school assembly on Wednesday (short notice!). I've just finished writing mine, and I think it's alright. Nothing amazing, but it's all I can think of! That's brilliant!

In NSW we only have three terms of year 11. Year 12 then starts in term four and goes until the end of term three next year. The HSC exams are in the fourth term.
