Il est venu en parler sur Europe 1. "Bien sûr que j’ai la pression !", raconte Mika sur Europe 1 alors que le second album du chanteur américano-libanais sort vendredi. Après le succès phénoménal de Life in cartoon motion, qui comprenait beaucoup de références à l'enfance, il replonge dans son adolescence et la pop des années 1980 avec l’album The boy who knew too much. Pour écrire son deuxième opus, Mika a décidé de s’isoler. "Quand je jouais mes nouvelles chansons même à ma famille ou mes amis, ils les jugeaient par rapport à l’album précédent", raconte le chanteur de 26 ans. Un retrait qui lui a parfois été reproché. Mais si Mika assume son succès, il garde les pieds sur terre : "j’ai appris très jeune que rien n’était acquis". Si la musique de Mika donne la pêche il explique pourtant avoir commencé à écrire parce que c’était le meilleur moyen de faire ce qu’il voulait sans avoir peur. "Je mettais tout dans mes chansons, c’est comme ça que ça a commencé", explique le globe-trotter né au Liban et qui a longtemps vécu en France. A onze ans, alors qu’il vivait à Londres, sa mère a décidé de le mettre en pension. "Elle a réalisé avec moi qu’elle ne pouvait pas avoir la même attitude qu’avec les autres enfants de la famille," explique celui qui s’entoure de ses proches pour la conception de ses pochettes d’album et la mise en scène de ses concerts.
