  1. here's what i updated on: " Thanks guys! i'm really glad the drawing agreed with what everyone was envisioning! well, like what KaryLovesMika! said, we probably should do a vote or something so that we can properly decide which idea we're sticking to and concentrate our brain juices to the idea : ) so here are the main designs discussed: MAIN DESIGN: 1.Globe, arms going around globe, explosion of confetti, words, things(e.g chicken, hearts, monsters...)e.g: OR 2.boy holding a crystal ball, INSIDE the crystal ball,a circus, and just madness.e.g: OR 3.drawing of a person with his/her arms stretched out with the globe design on the person's t-shirt OR 4.explosion of a pinata instead of a globe, with confetti bursting out of it OR 5.incorporating a drawing of an umbrella and raindrops into the bursting globe design, e.g: just reply back to the thread with your choice, and also don't hesitate to contribute more ideas/sketches! more is always good -~- If we are going ahead with the crystal globe idea, i've taken note of your suggestions to improve the design, so that in the event we choose the crystal ball design, then i can do the design properly for you guys and about the How Much Do We Love You, Mika? lettering: I agree we should all do one letter each, and also someone suggested in a circus type font? i think a good way to standardize is to find a circus-y type font and blow it up in photoshop, then give each letter to one person and then each of us can design the insides of the letter, what do you all think?"
  2. yes! black and white can make amazing art! oh, and i understand what you said now - yeah, i agree with you Ankmet20, you have alot of fonts i like the first boxed font very much, but i think we're heading for the more circus-ish font?
  3. me waits too, although i should get to bed soon... (1 a.m over here:blink:)
  4. I thought white would be simple and nice too, something like the style used for amelia's magazine, but since its a group kinda thing, so sharing the letters is a good collab idea too.. i guess we can regulate the designs to be confined to just a few colours so that it'll be simpler, e.g just black and white I don't understand what you meant by to 'do the cover by drawing each one or two letters'?
  5. yeah exactly! this font: http://www.fontspace.com/jester-font-studio/ringmaster was what i was looking for, but yeah, its a little too complicated.. perhaps if we use something like this: http://www.fontspace.com/lee-gordon/bosox it'll be easier for us to design it?

  7. should we split the sections up to individual people then? by the way, i think the papyrus look is great, you can add more colours/designs around the borders or something to make it more mika-ish
  8. yeah, maybe we can think of some way to combine the two, but i don't have any ideas yet.. thank you! yeah!!! i think it'll look great love his smirk by the way will try to stare at his face and try sketching his chin - i'm rather terrrible at portraits of people - but i don't mind staring at his face. XD
  9. yay so it fits your idea? but i know the person's coat is a little messy - i was too lazy to paint the whole thing since there was 7 pages of discussion which is confusing, here's the list update: MAIN DESIGN: - Globe, arms going around globe, explosion of confetti, words, things(e.g chicken, hearts, monsters...)e.g: OR -palm of a hand (wearing a white glove) flat out with pieces of confettin in the middle, just slightly sticking out from underneath a 'cystal ball' sitting on top of it, with clouds on it, like those misty purple clouds and INSIDE the crystal ball,a circus, and just madness.e.g: OR - drawing of a person with his/her arms stretched out with the globe design on the person's t-shirt OR - explosion of a pinata instead of a globe, with confetti bursting out of it OR - incorporating a drawing of an umbrella and raindrops into the bursting globe design, e.g: LETTERING: - magazine cutout letters for the 'how much do we love you' words OR -explosion of 'how much do we love you' from the globe AND - incorporation of the phrase - "Celebrating 2008, Cirque du Mika!" in the design, or what i thought would be nice is the writing of that phrase on a drawing of a ribbon that goes at the bottom of the globe, something like this: BACKGROUND: - remains black OR -just purple OR - combination of purples and yellows OR - paint splatter of blue and orange BACK COVER: - technicolour handprints, statement in the background OR - the back view of a person OR - just the letters 'MFC' drawn on a black background - something like they way the word 'MIKA' is written on his album OR - a simple phrase/poem OR - the back view of a person(male/female?) having a shadow of a different shape, e.g: OR -a person peaking into the circus tentOR -All black, at the very bottom, on each side, have one hand straight up and and slightly cupped and on the other side a hand straigh up slightly cupped facing eachother, and in the middle the words "this much." HOW ITS GOING TO BE DONE: -hand drawn, -neatened up by photoshop -division of the words/letters of the phrase 'How Much Do We Love You' to respective people to draw [/color] ART SECTION: A "where's waldo?" type drawing, but instead "Where's Billy?" and hiding Billy Brown somewhere throughout a sea of people. (shouldn't this be in the section layouts thread though??)
  10. here's what i did: ahhh i don't really know how you all wanted circus to be like, so i just tried my best..yup, so is this the idea that everyone was thinking about?
  11. i searched up on gettyimages for ideas of different positions of hands holding on to a crystal ball: I feel that all the poses here are really good, i suppose the one that lovelove_mika was talking about would be the pose in the first picture. i will base my sketch on the first photo, together with the crystal ball and circus elements, but i feel the pother poses can be explored as well
  12. i think its brilliant! i saw your rough sketch too, which is also very helpful in visualising things - i can help with the drawing on the inside of the crystal ball, will post it up later
  13. yeah!! well, i searched the forum and there seems to be one or two singaporean mfcers, but they seem to be inactive.. but i do know a bunch of people whom i influenced to be fans of mika too! and yes, you can call us singaporeans
  14. so many GREAT ideas! i shall do an update of the ideas again here: MAIN DESIGN: - Globe, arms going around globe, explosion of confetti, words, things(e.g chicken, hearts, monsters...)e.g: OR -just ONE pair of arms hugging the globe OR -gloved hands (like in happy ending video) hugging the globe OR - drawing of a person with his/her arms stretched out with the globe design on the person's t-shirt OR - explosion of a pinata instead of a globe, with confetti bursting out of it OR - incorporating a drawing of an umbrella and raindrops into the bursting globe design, e.g: LETTERING: - magazine cutout letters for the 'how much do we love you' words OR -explosion of 'how much do we love you' from the globe AND - incorporation of the phrase - "Celebrating 2008, Cirque du Mika!" in the design, e.g bursting out of globe, or what i thought would be nice is the writing of that phrase on a drawing of a ribbon that goes at the bottom of the globe, something like this: BACKGROUND: - remains black OR -just purple OR - combination of purples and yellows OR - paint splatter of blue and orange (i also feel that black would be a better choice, so as to draw the focus to the globe) BACK COVER: - technicolour handprints, statement in the background OR - a very delectable drawing of a monster(like the ones in amelia's magazine) OR - the back view of a person OR - just the letters 'MFC' drawn on a black background - something like they way the word 'MIKA' is written on his album OR - a simple phrase/poem OR - the back view of a person(male/female?) having a shadow of a different shape, e.g: (brilliant drawing by the way!) (some of these ideas can be combined; e.g 'MFC' + backview of person with a different shadow) HOW ITS GOING TO BE DONE: -hand drawn, -neatened up by photoshop -division of the words/letters of the phrase 'How Much Do We Love You' to respective people to draw (although in my opinion this might have a consistency problem) -~- so after more brainstorming we can continue to discuss and finalise our ideas from this list so keep on contributing your ideas and i'll compile the ideas from time to time keep going people!
  15. went to check out the thread - awesome idea!
  16. don't forget singapore!!!! i'm sure there are dozens of other mika fans lurking in singapore too! even muse came to singapore twice last year!(once for their gig, second time as a stopover to buy rugs before heading to australia)
  17. its such a beautiful song! i love it already! i can tell the second album is going to be phenomenal!
  18. oh alright, i see what you mean now, yeah its more logical if we do it separately, since its alot of work - well, we can discuss the ideas over here to try to make things consistent, so here's what i think: in the PM mel sent to us, the main theme of this year's yearbook is: *The theme of the book, besides the year 2008 is “How Much Do We Love You Mika?” The reason behind this is basically that this was the first glimpse of the second album we got, and we all found ourselves answering his question with “OMG! You have no idea how much I love you!” and from what it seems from the developments in the front cover discussion thread, the theme would be something along the lines of how mika has spread his influence globally and he unites many people from all over the world with his music? so i guess we can work out a consistent theme for the layout pages from this themes - and make each section unique with individual responsibilities for each section
  19. i've never seen mika live! :| but i'm hopeful!
  20. so compilations of suggestions for the front cover: - Globe, arms going around globe, explosion of confetti, words, things(e.g chicken, hearts, monsters...) - magazine cutout letters for the 'how much do we love you' words OR - drawing of a person with his/her arms stretched out with the globe design on the person's t-shirt background: - remains black OR - combination of purples and yellows back cover: - technicolour handprints, statement in the background OR - a very delectable drawing of a monster(like the ones in amelia's magazine) OR - the back view of a person OR - just the letters 'MFC' drawn on a black background - something like they way the word 'MIKA' is written on his album how its going to be done: hand drawn, neatened up by photoshop tell me if i missed anything!
  21. I mean 'your' - I'm using an itouch to post this and I get lots of typing errors XD
  22. thank you! I can continue helping out with sketches of everyone's ideas and also contributing ideas
  23. I think tour idea is really great, I can make another sketch to show everyone the idea visually... And I think hand drawn art works the best, you see how fantastic mika's album art worked out. we can all contribute to the art and refine/standardise it in photoshop?
  24. if we divide sections there wouldn't be a consistency in the design though..
