  1. I read somewhere in MFC that Mika's performing at Festival in Lebanon.... but still not confirmed I think? Anybody read similar thing as I did or I just dreamed last night?
  2. It starts from what he's been doing for past 2 years, talking about the TV shows... valentino.. how he spend time at home... saying that like others, he fixes the house and pays tax and cooks... he cooks almost everything except baking... his brother has great baking skill even dreamed to be a baker, but he doesn't. He also talks about how he learned to know switch on and off himself to save energy during TV shows... and common stories we've already read somewhere.. Oh at last paragraph he says that if the world ends he will use up all of his money and just have fun with his family.
  3. This magazine writes in very descriptive way and even flowery... MIka's interview part seems it has been splited and rearranged a lot to translate into perfect flowing Korean... in this case it's very hard to imagine the original English words MIka used.... sorry..
  4. I'm sure that Mika would like to have tour in Germany so much. But he didn't get appropriate offer yet... maybe because Universal Music Germany is very busy taking care of other pop singers on chart tops..
  5. Exactly. To tell the truth, artists can not choose where to tour and which venue... the artists are invited by "market" who smells money from them. and yes It often conbines with record companies, means local labels (Universal music) co-works with concert promotors. If record sales good (or think would be good) local labels contribute or invest money for the tour too. When local label is negative about certain artists' market power, it's harder to arrange gigs in that country as promotors nomally do not take risks arranging tours that even local label does not pay attention to. "Local label's interests and attention" is one of very important factors to arrange tours in certain country.
  6. Indeed. Simply we can assume that Mika sells out 1,000 ppl venue, at $30 ticket, then earns $30,000 revenue. With that, the agency should pay for the venue rent, more than 10+ crew of plane tickets, hotel rooms, and all expenses during the stay, and tax. We can simply imagine that Mika hardly get paid or even might took all the loss. He can do that in US for promotional reason, that he could have chance to sell more records by taking that risk, as US is a Huge market. Then that could be considered as "investment" to get into US market. Our rich neighbour, 2nd biggest market, Japan, promotors often take risks, inviting western artist who might not make money, to simply check out if he works in Japanese market.... Thanks to their effort, Korean promotors sometimes have chance to hijack artists during their journey to Japan, at very low price than that of Europe/US markets. We say that, if we want more Mika in Korea, Mika should be big in Japan, and Hong Kong, and other asian countries, and then things would be easier. When bigger United-Asia agencies co-invites Mika, the Asia-tour could be one of priority options that Mika can choose .. (than Swatch promotions, at least )
  7. When UK doesn't pay as other Europe countries do.. hard to make some deals. For example, if France, the 2 hr distance of neighbour country pays certain amount, that's the "Market Price" in that region(Europe) and Mika should be paid like that in UK to be fair to other countires... Imagine that Mika get paid 1 Mil dollars for 1 gig in France for 100 mins gig in front of 10,000 ppl , then UK only offers 0.1 Mil for 100 mins gig in front of 1,000 ppl, how unfair is it if Mika accept it.... thinking of he should put same energy, same set, same time, and pay same money to crews. Maybe 'One promotional gig" might be excused, gets understadings of French/Italian agencies who pays a lot, explaining that Mika does one gig in UK at discounted price, only for promotional reason.... Yes That's exactly what I heard from articles about this market. The artists should get offers to have some tours. If one artist are ready for tour, the artist's agency send out offers to local promotors of each countries. Normally promotors in certain region get united and make groups. For example, Korean promotors work with Japanese promotors, shares the offers of each agencies, or send out Asian tour offer to certain artist, like Package deal. Only in 2011 Mika could have a sole MIka gig in Seoul, even though he was not in tour season, simply because the Huge Sponsor "Hyundai Card" wanted him very much.
  8. Did he signed The Voice 2015 ? Anyone Knows?
  9. Haha right! He deserves to be best model for commercial film of Seoul tourism organization
  10. IMO, Each country has its own mainstream music scene reflecting its culture and the trend flowing from past to present throughout the history. Maybe one album suits very good on this and it becomes 'trendy' or 'mainstream' on that certain music scene. Or if not, that album suits better on other music scene in other country because it just suits there. Mika's music just suits "current trend" and "cultural sentiment" in countries like France, Italy, and thankfully South Korea. That's why his music is so much loved in those countries. Actually, Now I can see that Mika's music sounds far from things of mainstream in huge markets, like UK, US, and it is apparently hurtful for fans from that "Huge Market" and of course, for Mika himself. If I were a musician and could choose to be a mainstream in several countries, my choice would be US and UK, not South Korea. Thankfully France and Italy is big enough and we worldwide fans should be relieved as those countries works as "basecamp" for Mika's career. "Not mainstream" in UK and US doesn't mean end of his career and of course doesn't mean that his music is not good enough. It just doesn't suit on those countries, but Mika has pretty big altanatives. Mika's 4th album goes very well on several countries and it shows that he made a great album! Mika knew which country has a potential to adore him, and he found right places and we worldwide fans should should be happy for that (even though his right places are not my home country) If years goes by, there could be a moment that Mika's music could be kinda suit on the music scene of certain moment in UK, and that's the best we hope to have again. UK fans... you still can travel to any place in France/Italy with (relatively) small amount of money and time... Edit : Taylor Swift or other unfamiliar names in UK chart top 10 is not doing good here in Korea, never could fill Olympic Arena as Mika did, but that doesn't mean that their album is not good enough. Their albums are best and suits on current UK scene, but doesn't suit here in Korea. I fully understand how fans are frustrated when their fave musician doesn't good in homecountry, while he/she's big in other countries.. as that means they rarely have chance to see their fave musician's concert. It hurts....
