  1. Hi Greyceli!

  2. As in from One Foot Boy? Yes, I think so. But he did say he disliked it ("makes me seasick")... I always thought that meant that he hated it when people went out with him just for the status... like seeing someone on 13 February just for the card the next day. Or maybe he got the feeling that people went out with him as an experiment, to see how weird he was. I hate how people do that... Maybe he did try "Empty loving" and then felt bad? On a side note, there is the train ticket from Valentine's Day '96?
  3. Thanks! "Famous or in prison", haha that's brilliant! I think a lot of celebrities, especially musicians/artists are like that (Lady Gaga?)... "Too weird for the real world!" I got the impression that Rain was a breakup letter from the TBWKTM years, which he sent and only remembered when it came to writing TBWKTM...? Idk
  4. Ha, now I'm going to obsess over Astor's "psychological handicap". From the look of the second school photo, he's the tallest of the Mubbins... Yes, I read the OMM article. I think I've at least got an idea as to why Mubbina would want to run away. In picture ten, where Mubbina is crying in the forest, she is next to a Missing poster asking about Good Gone Girl, who REALLY resembles her. In a Radio 1 Live Lounge interview from when TBWKTM came out, MIKA said GGG was about a (small-town?) girl who made it big. SO I was thinking Mubbina was the GGG who got tired of her non-stop lifestyle, paparazzi, etc., and ran away. BUT then they drink the rainbow water, and she can't go back, and regrets it? Coming back to the "Why did MIKA run away?", I'm not sure. It seems to me that, from interviews and songs, we've got a pretty good idea of his childhood, but he's nowhere near as open about the TBWKTM years. I think if he DID run away, it might just be because he had an argument with a family member and stormed off. Mind you, I think he must have made up, as he now lives in his parents' house Ooh! New thought: given that Rain's lyrics are taken from a break-up letter, maybe it was just lots of things at once: bad time at school, arguments at home, AND a breakup... I think most teenagers would run away, if only for a few days. I'm probably wrong by miles, though.
  5. Hi Marta, I've seen some of your drawings on Twitter, they're AMAZING! :biggrin2:

  6. Ohhh... I think I might have to call my friend and on the day and say I'm ill now. :)

  7. Has anyone else bought "Blast Off!"? it's fab
  8. Ah, I love Poses and The Consort especially, and at the minute I'm obsessed with Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk, and Greek Song.

I haven't seen him live, but he's doing a gig IN MY TOWN this month, but I already said I'd go to another gig with a friend the same day. What bites is he doesn't often tour this side of the Atlantic, and I don't really like the other band... :crybaby:

  9. Hmm... Grace Kelly, Happy Ending, WAG, Blame It On The Girls, Touches You, By The Time, One Foot Boy, Pick Up Off The Floor and Loverboy. Plus lots of the demos. I clearly have quite a lot of favourites too! :roftl:

But live? BIOTG and Rain, acoustically, are gorgeous. But overall Grace Kelly.

I love how he always seems so amazed that we're all there singing along. I emailed him via MySpace after Grace Kelly and LICM were first number one, and he replied, and said it seemed really surprising to him, too. The best bit is I think he still feels that way, three years later! :)

  10. Haha I know what you mean. What are your favourite songs?

  11. No, sadly. I was up in the circle, and my friends had to stop me from bolting over the railing to try and get there, hehe. Not my brightest moment... Which were your favourite tracks?

  12. Hi HollyD! I'm guessing you're a Rufus Wainwright fan? :)

  13. No ;( He was really close to where I live twice, but both times I had early starts the next day... unbelievable, I was so annoyed. I'm currently getting by on memories of Sadler's Wells. (Great gig!) Did you go?

  14. I'm great, thank you. Did you catch MIKA on the UK tour recently?

  15. Yes... in MIKA says the idea for the video is that he's run away from home - hence the Missing milk carton at the beginning. I think he also says that the Mubbins have run away from home before the start of the book, as we see it... This is my theory on the story: Four teenage friends/acquaintances want to, for various teenager-y reasons, leave home. They start to "stray from the beaten track" and *ahem* experiment I got this from Drinky saying on picture five "We should have stuck to cider". ... Somewhere along the line (later than this, as the water gives them a Mubbin-not-teenager appearance) Mubbina regrets leaving and misses her life back home (picture ten). She "cried, and cried..." ... Also along the line, probably around the same time in the story, Drinky starts blaming other people for what happens to him - "his mother... his father... anyone but himself" - picture six. ... After a while, most of the group adapt to their new world. Astor, with his Napoleon Complex (shall we call this NC?), tries to solve the mystery, and help them. I think Mubbina looks a little sad in picture twelve - maybe she's smiling through her tears; "grin and bear it" etc...? Narco just... sleeps, and Drinky stays bitter and hurtful (he's stabbing a voodoo pin into the doll [Toy Boy?] at the end). Also, here is MIKA's "Behind The Artwork" video, which has quite a bit about Mubbins. I can't remember how much, as my computer won't play it, but it's really interesting anyway... I've kind of made this up as I've gone along, so please let me know what you think...
  16. How are you? :)

  17. Yep, best dream I've ever had. I then stayed asleep for another half hour hoping the dream would continue. It did, but it turned into a really weird nightmare... I scare myself sometimes.
  18. Hi Gill! How are you?

  19. I had a MIKA dream ages ago, when Grace Kelly was first a hit, that my family (all MFCers) went back in time to his first gig with the band (although it was actually just him, Martin and Cherisse) and between the support act and them playing, we met them and said we really liked his music. Then later (this was before LICM came out) they played the best songs - ie all of them - from the album and dedicated Love Today to us. Awesome gig! Then in the morning I woke up and realised I should have got up half an hour earlier.
  20. Ah, I didn't. Oh well, at least I'm now a fan I've just sussed how to make a youtube group... http://www.youtube.com/SammyRaeFanClub it's a bit basic at the mo, but it's a start please everyone feel free to join either of them!
  21. Yeah, I've only just got both myself, and I'm still not very good at either. (I tend to break things a lot!) Btw does anyone know how I can take the purple hyperlinked SRFC and put it in my signature? Apparently I need a URL, even though I have it saved to my computer...? Gah so annoying HERE is the facebook group, peeps: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=116105145070319
  22. Hi, I entered this... didn't win but it was still fun! Are you a Nerina fan, then? I think she's great, but not many people have heard of her. Btw my entry is at if anyone's interested. It's poor quality and was my eighth take or something, so my voice is really ropy. Oh well
  23. What are people's thoughts on a Sammy Rae YouTube/facebook group? I could sort out a facebook one, but I'd like to know if anyone else would use them...
