  1. Ohhhh I LOOOVE Amy Mac!!! She's brilliant. I saw her live, and when they played this I started crying... Yeah, I'm cool
  2. Oh, the light here is beautiful, crystal chandeliers in the rain - Nerina Pallot, 57 Flavours MAN! I feel like a woman - Shania Twain hehe Round each corner there's a chance, people searching glance to glance. Moving about real fast, like insects and fish when they're scared - Regina Spektor, Raindrops I've got a friend, he's a pure-bred killing machine, I think he might be dead by Christmas - Nerina Pallot, Everybody's Gone To War But it wouldn't be make-believe if you believed in me - Ella Fitzgerald, Paper Moon In her soft wind I will whisper... I owe it all to Frank Sinatra. The song was playing as she walked into the room - Crowded House, She Goes On You'll still be my green-eyed boy, and I'll still want to stay up nights and dance till the sun comes up over the hills, but when there are no hills, there'll still be you. - Nerina Pallot, Will You Still Love Me? It's nothing personal, I'm just not too happy you exist... And second violin is not my favourite instrument, so I shut my mouth and smile hard so it's not evident... Congratulations, best of luck and I can't stand your face, cos friendly competition always turns into a race - Sammy Rae, Guess Who Doesn't Like You Very Much Pass suburban streets, the sudden sprawl of nothingness could be a memory in our minds. Under neon painted skys, will we live or die tonight? - Nerina Pallot, Drive I don't mind if you want to know where I've been, within reason. But I can't stand it when you watch my every move. No, you don't know him, and no, I don't want you to meet him, he's just a friend, just a friend, I'll be back before "too late". Thanks for your concern, but I'm afraid I already have a mother - me, random thing I just made up You wouldn't know a diamond if you held it in your hand. The things you think are beautiful I can't understand - Steely Dan, Reeling In The Years Thousands, no millions of hours We've been skirting around this whole subject Like children stuck in a museum. And i'm dry now. My mouth will not speak, i'm weary and weak And I only wanted to see you again. If that's unfair, just let me know, Just write it down, and then i'll go. But you skate around my human skin An apple where your throat begins Just say.... Just tell the stars to give a sign, Put it in a bottle..... Say you're mine. And it's better, better than music, Better than words to be with you But better that we're apart. Can't you feel it? It's taken me over, left me for dead like Ophelia. Who knew a prince and survived? And so I ask in every line That I might learn of your design Because you skate around my human skin Your name is where my heart begins Just say.... Just tell the stars to give a sign, Put it in a bottle... Say you're mine. Because you skate around my human skin Your name is where my heart begins Just say.... Just tell the stars to give a sign, Put it in a bottle... Say you're mine. - Nerina Pallot, My Last Tango Wow, that's quite a list! As you can probably tell, I rather like Nerina Pallot's lyrics. I'm also rather proud of one of mine, in my sig
  3. Oh yeah, found it :) Thanks for posting the lyrics

  4. I love this new song, it's fabulous. So exciting! Question: this thread says North American Fans... (does "cute little girl" voice can I join???)
  5. Hi Caz, have you heard the new Sara Bareilles single? I love it!

  6. No prob... WISH I could draw half as well as you So jealous you got a message from Meeks :D

  7. Brilliant idea! I've subscribed When you're signed in and on any page, towards the top right of the screen there will be an "Upload" link. Just click on that and fill in the details Btw peeps, I have an acoustic of WAG HERE if anyone's interested. It's a bit rubbish, but oh well . Please let me know what you think Also, my page is in my sig, and more Meeks covers are on the way:mf_rosetinted:
  8. Ohhh yeah I hadn't watched that interview before... it's a good one (but not as good as Vertigo) On a related note, is the "Relax and take it easy for a while" in Awkward related to Meeks? Also, do you have any more Sammy Rae Stickers? I'd love to have some, but thought they might have all gone Also also, d'you think you'll be posting "studio" versions of the new songs? I can't hear them very well Thanks
  9. The videos are up!!! I watched Quality Cardboard first, then Vertigo, then A Pirate's Song. They're awesome. I mean, REALLY awesome. I was crying with jealousy listening. I wish I could write half as well as this Hope it went well for you, Sammy.
  10. OMGOMGOMG!!! I NEEEEED to move to the States thank you Sammy! Hope the gig went well!
  11. So excited about the new songs!!! Also about the gig at The Space later - good luck, and will you be posting videos of it? I can't go, but would love to...
  12. To the CD rack!!! I also have a "MIKAbox" full of press cuttings etc., and I think the V-day ticket stuff was from the Sunday Times Culture Magazine (STCM?) but can't be sure as I've lost mine moving house a few months ago I wonder if it was possible he was just dodging the question. He was in London School of Economics, after all... Also, on V-day 96 he was almost exactly 12 and a half, which is a little young for "empty loving" if you ask me I didn't think the ticket was on the Rain letters page, I thought it was one on the front cover and one on the diary page, in the deluxe edition at least. Yes, the letters are really mean. One of the people in there I should like to give a punch in the face, the "Remember, nobody likes a loser" letter writer. I bet they're kicking themself now.
  13. It's the same as the guitar chords... Intro, played twice: Dm7 for a bar, Gm9 or Gm for a bar, C for a bar, F for a half-bar, C/E for a half-bar, so the bass goes F, E, D. Verse, played twice: Dm7 for a half-bar, Gm9 for a half-bar, C for a half-bar, F for 1 and a half counts, C/E for a half count, Gm7(add4) for a bar - 3X331X - G F Bb C C7 for a bar. Chorus, played twice: F for a bar, C7sus for a half-bar, F for 1 and a half-bar, C/E for a half count, Dm7 for a bar, Gm7(add4) for a half-bar, C7 for a half-bar. then the intro, then the verse and chorus, Bridge: Cm for a bar, Bb for a bar, F for a bar, C for a bar, Cm for a bar, Bb for a bar, F for a bar, G7 for a half-bar, C for a half-bar. Then a bunch of choruses, which either fades out or, in the acoustic, goes Stuck in the midd-le F, half-bar C/E, half-bar Dm7 (bang on the piano quite hard) Hope that helps!
  14. My theory on GGG is maybe this girl is trying to get a break and starts off with all these morals and ideals about how she'll be able to say she's got a clean slate and works hard and doesn't drink etc but can't... hence "the life you wanted, you were only 17 with a Good Girl dream" - fame and fortune, without the cost. (Or maybe she never really cared about morals and such, just pretended to.) BUT she soon discovers it's not easy, and starts to fall apart, and "needs somebody to notice" but her pride in her morals - her "goodness" - "gets her down" Also, about the "when the end of the night gets tricky, don't you know that beggars can't be picky?"... I always thought this was him saying "beggars can't be choosers"... she wants to go home with someone at the end of the night, but, in Holly Golightly-style, refuses to settle for second best and wants a rich man, young or not, even if she's now past her best and no-one really wants her...? I don't know, just offering my tuppence worth.
  15. true, but I did miss his fab performance on Abbey Road last year. He was on at 11.20 PM GMT and they posted the message at 11.15. But now I will never miss a beat, for I am an MFCer (my mother calls us "those weirdos" YAY! Btw big thanks for the download. So far, so good!
  16. I recorded the interview and will record the "Red Button" stuff, I'll try to upload them without breaking my TV Kind of annoyed that mikasounds.com didn't mention this... oh well. On a side note, wasn't the brass in BIOTG nice? And his Princess Grace impression was fab
  17. I've recorded it, and shall record the "Red Button" stuff. I might well break the TV in the process but fingers crossed. Really annoys me that mikasounds.com didn't even mention this... didn't even know until my friend rang me up and told me... almost missed it, grr. On a side note, wasn't Blame It good?
  18. Ahh... apologies but I think I've been unclear here. What I meant was the purple SRMF logo, with the musical notes...? Sorry! Thanks for the help though
  19. Hi silver,

I'm a new member of MFC and I've been told that you're the person to ask about world reps. However I can't find the link and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction,

    Thanks,

    Es

  20. Ah, hadn't thought of it that way, good point!
  21. I always thought to fork out for something is to spend money on it, eg I always fork out for MIKA singles, even though it can be expensive ... so really fork out wouldn't make sense... If it was "fork out for my daylight" then he would be saying "make an extra effort to bring daylight to/improve my day" which is kinda the opposite of the rest of the song. I always sing block out. It's hard to tell with MIKA, he sings with such an odd "airport accent" I have a feeling this OMS conversation may go in cirlces...
  22. Hi Caz! Thanks for accepting my friend invite :)

  23. Hi everybody... just as a random thing, I've made a Sammy Rae Fan Club Group here on MFC... I'm so sorry if there already was one! I looked, but I'm not always very good at finding groups, threads etc.
