    Hi!
Does anyone knows which album have been in produced in LP/vinyls?
I know that Life In Cartoon Motion, My Name Is Michael Holbrook, and Que Ta Tête Fleurisse Toujours are still sold as vinyls, (own all the 3) but the albums The Boy Who Knew Too Much, The Origin of Love and No Place in Heaven seems to have been produced in vinyls format (?) Can't find any of those to buy directly from a store, only second hand... Anyone knows some online markets in Europe where I can buy the vinyls?

According to discogs.com the others were never released on vinyl.

LICM only was released on vinyl a few years ago so I'm hoping the 3 others will eventually be as well.

  3. This thread made me realize that i had put the tour names of a few tours on the spread sheet but not for several so I just fixed that.

The only one i wasn't pretty sure about was the Dodgy Holiday tour. When/where did that one really start?

No it was definitely more than that. From a quick yt search I also found Seoul, Schaffhausen, Paléo Festival, Mares Vivas Festival and Liège.

He was wearing "normal" clothes at the Bestfest in Bucharest though :D

But anyway, you're right they were all festival dates.

    In 2011

He wore a shiny red jacket, white shirt & trousers & had the flower curtain background for:

    July    2    2011    B'estfest    Bucharest    ROMANIA
July    8    2011    Balaton Festival    Budapest    HUNGARY

July    21    2011    Low Cost Festival    Benidorm    SPAIN

He wore the fancy jacket & short pants but DID NOT have the Marie Antoinette set for:

July    15    2011    Amnesia    Ibiza    SPAIN

He wore the fancy jacket & short pants & had the Marie Antoinette set for:

July    9    2011    Palais Impérial    Compiègne    FRANCE                      July    10    2011    Les Ardentes Festival    Liege    BELGIUM                  July    13    2011    Theatre de Verdure du Casone    Ajaccio     CORSICA

July    16    2011    Mares Vivas Festival    near Oporto    PORTUGAL
July    23    2011    Paleo Festival    Nyon    SWITZERLAND                    August    6    2011    Das Festival    Schaffhausen    SWITZERLAND
August    12    2011    Cala di Volpe    Sardinia    ITALY                            September    20    2011    Olympic Hall    Seoul    SOUTH KOREA

this assignment made me very happy i decided to include a representative photo of each gig on the spreadsheet.  Also, i love his cream-colored MA outfit and that red jacket & white shirt & trousers look is my fave tour look EVER so i was more than happy to check them all :teehee:

So he really went all out during the festivals then! Cause I remember he had actual stage pieces for it too, like paintings on the wall and stuff if I recall correctly, and Ida had that whole wig and a big dress and everything... it deserves a name, maybe he can name it retrospectively or we can come up with something 😂

Also ty! I didn't realise the tours were listed on Wikipedia. I also wonder what the difference between the 1955 tour and the Imaginarium Tour is, cause it doesn't show many results on Youtube, only an interview with him about the stage decoration which looks a lot like that of the Imaginarium Tour 🤔. Maybe that was more of a prequel to Imaginarium

he had a real chandelier too I think?

None of the summer festival dates are part of tours usually and it makes me so annoyed when trying to figure out to refer to them when I’m doing the Mika encyclopedia thing.

i do wish he would’ve used that set and costumes for some proper tour dates, but it was a great idea for festivals. Must’ve made his show so memorable compared to the standard festival acts.

About the tours ... I think kind of an unofficial name for the 2011 gigs was the Marie Antoinette set. It started with one gig in Compiègne which got (comparably) big advertising as a special event, and then he brought this set to several festivals (the ones I went to were Liège and Schaffhausen, but there were some more that summer).

The 1955 tour was sort of the preparation for the Imaginarium tour, a smaller version of it. He had certain parts of the set already (like the planets), but others were new for 2010 (especially the big book). Also the setlist was different, for example he played One Foot Boy and PUOTF in 2009, but not in 2010.

The Imaginarium Tour had different sets. There was the first part, where he had the book in the bigger venues and the book projections on a videoscreen in the smaller ones. And the 2nd part, I think starting in April, was the big arenas, where he added the planets again and the space suit, the dragon, the rocket, Ida's Queen of the Night costume and much more. For these, the book was hidden behind a starry curtain for the first part of the gig.

Then it changed again for the 2010 festivals, which weren't really part of the tour anymore, but had a similar setlist iirc - he kept some of the props, depending on the venue size & location. It changed between a flower backdrop (e.g. Codroipo) and a clown backdrop (e.g. Cattolica), sometimes with a flower piano, he kept the tree in the bigger venues (e.g. Riga), I think also the Billy Brown flag, and some other things.

Edit: I just looked it up on Youtube, I think Riga was the Imaginarium set, as it wasn't a festival but a separate gig. But in Helsinki, which was also a gig, the venue was too small, so he just had some flower decorations and no book or backdrop. Well... he did bring the big doll, which filled the whole stage :lmfao:

Btw, if you ever need a full list on one page of all the previous gigs, I made one for my German website. Maybe I should add the tour names, but it gets confusing with something like the 2010 summer gigs. 😅

thanks for explaining the differences Karin. It really helps to hear it from someone who was there. I though another difference was the 1955 concerts started with Ian Mckellen on tv and the band on the couch then Mika in the air as the astronaut, or was there some overlap of that into the Imaginarium shows?

I have a spreadsheet with all Mika’s previous concerts linked in the Mikapedia too… although it needs updates with some of the 2023/2024 dates 😬

Question about Bourgez; Do you think that this counts as first performance for an audience? I don't feel like it does. At Le Grand Studio RTL is the first in my opinion. You can see the difference. First isn't for audience.

I too was debating whether or not the L’invit thing counted as first live (for Amour Pirate as well) and was leaning toward it not counting.

Like for I See You i didn’t count the first time live as when he performed it in front of a fake mannequin audience for that one tv show.

really wild stuff! Like posting in all the language threads in the wrong language, and post pics of Mika wearing green in the Mika in pink thread, and if we want to really want to go wild and give them practice we can open a bunch of threads for stuff that already has a thread! :freak:

    Why, what’re you thinking of?

Great, Dee! And yes, I know what you mean about posting publicly -- it makes you feel more accountable. I do that myself sometimes. :teehee:

Also, as I have been reading through, I have made a running list whenever I've noticed something that needs to be updated -- I refer to this Mikapedia *a lot* and appreciate the work you've done here so much! You probably already know about the things I have on my list, but just in case you don't... and if there's ever anything I can do to help out, please lmk!

I wrote it and i still refer to it a lot too :teehee: I'm glad i'm not the only one who uses it, but even i was i'd still probably work on it. I really just want to know all the Mikathings!

Thanks for keeping a list! I keep a list too but it's so easy to miss things (especially when he does so many things in languages i don't understand ), so if you want to send me your list (whenever you get a chance, no rush) I'd love to compare.

I heard Grace Kelly at my Indiana grocery store today. It’s the same store I think I heard Talk About You at for months back in 2016 when I didn’t know what it was. I got some funny looks from the other customers when I was acting excited about a song playing and recording it.

lol I did the same when I heard GK in a Nebraska Walmart. It seems his music I had been licensed for grocery store use or something. I heard Popular w/ Ariana there too.

The stores playing those songs isn’t so shocking, but TAY in the USA? Wow, that one does surprise me!

  9. Hey all, I've been back to working on this more earnestly for the past couple of months and was hoping to have a major update ready by Christmas, or at least New Years Day but life keeps distracting me. Plus, I had kind of wandered away from Mika for a few months in 2022/2023 (if wasn't a conscious decision but looking back i think i might've been salty about the only 2 gigs i was to attend getting canceled/postponed too late for me ) and he did a ton of stuff during my inattentive phase, more than I'd realized.

So, i figured if i post my goal date here maybe I'll stick to it better, and that goal is Mikasoon! :crossed:

...Or at least March sometime, because that's the anniversary of when i started this project

  10. I just dreamt I was googling pictures of refrigerators and I found a photo of Mika standing in a kitchen. He looked about age 19-21 or so and he was wearing a little black lacy bra and panties over his hoodie and trousers. For some reason I thought this pic was from one of his early showcases (there was a caption maybe?!). I was sort of distracted by the nice green and black fridge also in the picture :teehee:

That’s all I remember about the dream.

Yes he meant a female hero. Did I forget the "e"? Sorry about that. Yes it could be about Beirut but my instinct is yelling to me it's about his mum. Or about both? There is a parallel and Beirut is femine in French.

yeah, I wouldn’t have mentioned it except without the e the meaning changes massively xD

I agree, I definitely don’t think it’s only about Beirut

What if the song was dedicated to Lebanon instead?

I was thinking this too, or Beirut specifically, ever since the first time i read the translation on google, but didn't want to say it because I thought people would think it was a dumb idea.

    Especially these lines:

    She is taken back to
    The wounds of the past
Each time she tries to move forward
    She is stuck
    Lives in a broken body
    And destroys everyone who
    Wants to help her

BTW @crazyaboutmika heroin is a drug, perhaps he means heroine (a female hero)?

Can't believe no one has been to this thread in 13 years! :aah:

Which means I have no idea if anyone will actually see this post... :sweatdrop:

Anyway, I was reading a little about famous philosophers today and this quote by Confucius came up: "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated" and it instantly brought BIOTG to mind because of Mika's lyrics in the song "Life could be simple but you never fail, To complicate it every single time."

Now I'm wondering if Mika was partly inspired by Confucius at the time of writing this song? It seems too much of a coincidence if you ask me! :biggrin2:

I wouldn't be surprised if he was, although the idea isn't that revolutionary so it could totally be coincidence. Hmmmm... I don't recall him ever mentioning Confucius before :dunno:

And im not going to quote anyone from 2010, but i always have heard 'quite a good-looking face' and particularly like that bit because I use the word 'quite' quite often. I'd be so sad if it's actually "what a good-looking face"

I'm guessing these gold bracelets are his mother's bequest....

    Joannie wore golden accessories.

New mission: find pics of her wearing these bracelets xD

here’s The Little Road To Bethlehem from Mika’s interview on Le Divan in 2015

Watching all these back I’m so thankful someone had the foresight to film all these little bits of little Mika singing, even back when to film stuff you needed a whole separate device. And that people have shared them :fangurl:

Thanks Karin for opening this thread for me! Even after being on MFC for like 12 years I still feel weird opening threads
