1. I'd like to cut in with something that I personally feel very strongly, but that none of you (if I'm not mistaken) have mentioned: that biphobia is actually more alive than homophobia in "our" culture. I used to explain to people (as I am apparently the "gay expert" in the family whahaha ), especially my mother, that Mika's songs don't actually scream "gay" to me as they scream "bisexual" and that I was thus not surprised when he came out as such a few years ago. Anyways, my mother replied that there is no such this as actually being bisexual: it is just a way to either keeping everybody (the fans) happy, or being too scared to come out properly, as gay. Silly thing is, she is not at all homophobic. In fact, she asked me whether I was gay when I was 10 years old and won't take no for an answer, even now I'm 22 years old. And my father's opinion... well let's say his idea of being bisexual is the slutty Katy Perry kind.

I've actually been debating coming out as a lesbian since Heaven & this interview, just to be "ahead of the facts" LOL. Parents don't believe me when I tell them, in my mind truthfully, that I'm not gay, in the first place :naughty:

Good point. I actually have a somewhat similar experience with my mother: she doesn't think there's anything wrong with being gay but to her, bisexuality is somehow a bad thing. I don't want to repeat her exact words as I found them very offending but she basically finds bisexuals sex-crazed. Needless to say I silently shook my head and couldn't help but think "if only you knew about your daughter". :naughty:

  2. Cultural differences are so huge it's almost impossible to understand. My youngest is 8 and he asked me years ago what the word "gay" means and I explained it as well as "equality". Actually, during our 2,5 hours drive yesterday we had a long discussion (with hubby and my 14 yo) about equality, homophobia and also women's situation in different countries and it felt just perfectly natural :aah:

You're a good mother. when I become a mother, I'll do like that too :thumb_yello:

I agree with Yuna - it's great that you can discuss these things so openly with your children. You really are a great mum. :huglove:

  3. he died, from what i heard the attacker was looking for a gay guy to assault cause he was sexually harrased by a gay guy... But that's no reason to go attack an innocent gay person!!! Like every victim from straight guys will go attack a straight person... that doesn't happen either right!!

Oh my god... That is incredibly sad. :tears: I cannot understand how someone else's, possibly a total stranger's, personal life could bother someone so much. Hate crimes like this are extremely tragic and a manifestation of what the human nature is capable of at its worst.

  4. we have a gay prime minister in belgium. Think we're pretty tolerant in this issue as well. allthough sadly there's always a minority who disapproves of homosexuality as was proven a few weeks back when a gay guy got attacked.

Wow, I did not know about your prime minister, that's fantastic!

I'm sorry to hear about the attack. What happened to him? Is he okay now?

You're absolutely right, it doesn't matter what country we live in, there will always be the group of intolerant people. Although Finns in general are fairly tolerant there are people here who are extremely conservative, even to the point where they think men should not have long hair. And like many other countries, we have gay pride parades too and it saddens me to say that some of these parades have gotten attacked.

  5. Yes :roftl: It's the rose window in Notre Dame. I love rose windows :wub2::teehee:

Maybe :lmfao: I guess I would have to be living in a house with at least 2 floors to do that though :aah:

Yes they're absolutely stunning. :wub2: The church in Jönköping had such pretty windows too, too bad all the pictures I took in that church are so blurry. :roftl:

Gosh I miss Sweden, I hope I can visit Stockholm soon again.

  6. No, don't be sorry it's fine! Just wanted to say that I'm not a part of that :wink2:

Yes I agree, but it's just that a lot of the churches in Sweden look like that so when you come to the cathedrals it's like wow! And then the windows are just gorgeous :wub2: I want a window like that in my house :mf_rosetinted::aah:

You mean something like this? :mikacool:

ok well. i'm not new to this site but i'm new to this thread, so errrhmm.. HI! :blush-anim-cl:

    I'm danish btw! :b

Oh I remember you from the piercing thread - welcome! :wink2:

  7. I dunno. Even my dad likes it; and he hates my music as a general rule :naughty: His favorite is nine in the afternoon. :teehee: I cant pick a favorite:teehee::wub2:

I love that song! :wub2: I remember when Pretty Odd came out, my boyfriend told me he hated it because to him the Beatles references were too obvious and one of my friends was like "Oh I like the band now that they're not so damn emo anymore". :aah:

I think my boyfriend lives by the same rule your dad does - he pretty much hates all of the music I listen to, including Mika and Panic. :naughty: We do have some common favourites but there's not very many of them. :aah:

  8. To answer your question, Christine, you have to bear in mind that Europe means several countries ( 27 for the EU only) so there are discrepancies. Besides, even in the more modern, broad minded countries of Europe, mentalities differ. People from Northern Europe tend to be more tolerant (Sweden, the Netherlands, for instead) and for the other countries, it depends on their religious or cultural beliefs.

That is very true. I haven't come across these campaigns but I assume it's only because the suicides of gay teenagers are not an epidemic here. Finland is a pretty liberal country and in general homosexuality is well approved here - we even had an openly gay president candidate for this year's elections. I consider myself very lucky to live in a country that is so tolerant (even if I sometimes forget about it and moan about the most trivial things :naughty: ).

Even though it's sad these kind of campaigns are needed I'm glad to hear they exist and the general public has recognised the issue. I sincerely hope they help the victims who have to put up with hateful people on a daily basis.

  9. Oh thank god I'm not the only one here!!! :teehee: the thread has ben dead for awhile but I really love panic' date=' good performances and songs :wub2:[/quote']

It seems like most of the "Other artists" threads die here. :aah:

I really need to start doing some research on these guys again. I loved them to bits after their first album had been released but after a while I found new bands ( = new obsessions :naughty: ) and sort of grew apart from them. Their shows from around 2006 were amazing with all the makeup, burlesque girls and circus themes - I would've loved to see them live back then. :wub2: Panic is one of the bands that helped me re-define myself when I was a teenager and for that reason I'll always like them.

... God I sound like I'm a lot older than I actually am, I'm barely past my teenage years! :roftl:

  10. Why didn't I know about this thread?! Bands of Fueled by Ramen were some of my favourites back in 2005 when I first heard about these guys!

I must admit that I only know A Fever You Can't Sweat Out by heart - I'm not that familiar with Pretty Odd or Vices & Virtues. But their debut album is still one of my favourite records ever and I absolutely adore Brendon's voice. :wub2: I keep giving breaks to listening to P!ATD but I go back to them every once in a while and they're always just as good as I remembered.

  11. mistä More To Love tän tietää? tää on vastaus kommenttiin siinä Celebrate jutus (yh tuli pienenä)

    :dunno:

  12. I don't go to church I'm not a Christian. Never been never will be :naughty:

I agree, some churches are really really beautiful, especially the cathedrals in France and the nearby countries!

Oh I'm really sorry! I must've misunderstood something there. :blush-anim-cl: I only attend services if I have to, like weddings and such but I'm not a Christian either.

I'd love to visit cathedrals like that one day. :wub2: But I have to admit that I find the really simple medieval ones even more attractive. They can be kind of creepy so I find them quite fascinating. :teehee:

  13. I just thought I'd open a thread for this girl as I think her music is something a lot of you might like. :blush-anim-cl:

I saw Iiris live some time ago and she is simply amazing. She's a young Estonian artist and her debut album, The Magic Gift Box, was released earlier this year.

This is one of the singles from the fore-mentioned album. I had never heard of Iiris before I saw her live so I was quite shocked to find out that this song has actually gotten quite a bit of attention where I live. :lmfao:

Her Soundcloud profile also has some songs from the album, as well as a couple remixes of 'Weirdo'.

So what do you think? Yay or Nay? :naughty:

  14. Again I just don't understand why everyone holds Justin Bieber to some ridiculous standard that no one else has to live up to. Don't ask him stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers.

Why people working for the media ask him these questions and make him look stupid when he doesn't know how to answer them? I honestly don't know. Maybe they ask him difficult questions because he's someone a lot of young people look up to and they want to know more about his political views, for example.

Why normal people make fun of him? He's an easy target, so to speak. He's very successful for an 18-year-old and obviously there are a lot of people who don't like him or are jealous because of what he has achieved. In other words...

    :teehee:

  15. Oh this brings me to something. Exactly how old is he again? For purposes of conversation' date=' I'd like to know. Being 14 myself I need to grasp an understanding of how he could possibly have such an uninformed opinion as it comes to such a prevalent issue.[/quote']

He is born in 1994, if I'm not completely mistaken.

(Why do I know that again? :mikacool: )

  16. This is not lyrics. This is Tourette's Syndrome without profanity.

    OH TEH LULZ.

    W7Tcv.gif

Now that that's out of the way, I'd like to add that I actually listen to 'Baby' every once in a while. But it's only because of this:

Although I make fun of him, like Deb I have one or two of his songs, they're too catchy and sometimes you have to listen to them just to get them out of your head (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
  17. I would like to say that I don't have an opinion about this, but since I'm posting in this thread I guess I have.

I can't see Mika with a man, but I can't see him with a woman either. I actually can't see him with anyone. I guess it's because to me it only exist Mika the artist and the music he produce. Not the world around him, I'm not a part of that, I never met Mika, I never talked to him I don't know who he is. But I hope that he's happy because everyone deserved to be that, and it's good that he finally is comfortable enough to tell the world, not who he is and what he are, but to say that he is gay.

Eh whatever, live your life as you want Mika I don't care. :mf_rosetinted:

I just LOVE how you came in and proved my point about some fans not being interested in Mika's sexuality. :naughty: Cheers!

  18. Scream and judge. Because some/me believe that they/you can cope with this, they/me believe that it is a whim. Do you understand?... I think it's a whim, but you think that this freedom of choice. Miscellaneous. Screaming because they/me want to save you. You do not want to be saved, because you consider free to make such a choice. There will never be completely right.

I have a very different vision. While I want to save Mika, it means that I love him. If I would not care, then I will say, "let he be the way he is. f* him"

I'm sorry but I don't think homosexuality is anything anyone needs to be saved from. I have never understood how loving someone can be wrong or a sin and I never will.

Also, there is a difference between not caring and accepting. Some of Mika's fans probably don't care about his sexual preferences and others accept it. Whether you see it or not, there IS a difference.
