  1. From Mika to Fedez... Fedez ‏@Fedez@mikamusic_it Sei proprio un patatone! #XF8 pic.twitter.com/qbBiqY0vC "you're just a....well, literaly "patatone" means "big potatoe". But the meaning of the message of Fedez is: "you're so sweet, so tender!"
  2. From here: http://www.mikawebsite.com/ you can read: D’après le label Barclay, la maison de disque de Mika en France, le nouvel album sera disponible au mois de novembre 2014 From here: https://www.facebook.com/MikaWebsite you can read between the comments to the picture, the answer to someone who asked more about the news: MikaWebsite[.Com!] Oui elle est officielle, c'est Universal Music qui me l'a communiquée. :dunno:
  3. No, neither do I. That is only the idea, the image, the emotion, the feeling, the dream... that the cover and the snippet gives to me.... :teehee:
  4. I really like the cover! A beautiful design a little "naive" of a wild Mika in the wild lands...obviously he is naked... it seems the most normal thing in the world! The whole picture of these two natives living in this beautiful island becomes ironic, irreverent, naughty but absolutely not vulgar. It gives to me the idea of a Mika totally immersed in part of "enfant terrible". The song is too short to judge it, I can not tell, I suppose it might be a mix between a fresh and catchy melody and a ironic, funny and intelligent text, a bit as EMD. In perfect Mika style. And about the language...I love Mika singing in French. And in Italian. And in English. And in Spanish. And....
  5. Do you know who manages the official page? It is usually the record company that takes care of these things, but there's always different ways to do it. It always seems rather impersonal and boring, it does not give me the idea that who writes on it really knows who Mika is. It seems that every mornig, someone sits on a chair in front of a computer and says: "ok, what can i post today about Mika...uhmm....let me see...ok, another cute pic. And now, after doing my job, i can drink my coffee.." In good days, it looks like a formal advertisement, never more. It does not seem a good presentation for Mika.
  6. Thank you Ceebs! I think to have understood quite well ;) but i preferred to stop the conversation. It was not a misunderstanding, but only a discussion with different theories, and some of them have formed a majority. And the minority was not happy. ;)

  7. No problems! Even if i haven't understood what the misunderstanding was about... but it is normal not to understand a misunderstanding...oh my god what am I writing???
  8. ...yes, this is also the center of my previous discussion, beyond any linguistic misunderstandings.
  9. Maybe in France he was well known even before The Voice...and there was an "idea of Mika" to make it real....but in Italy before XF, he was only a name, the memory of the sound of old songs... there were no ideals about Mika to projects..... You said that older fans are projecting what they already know onto him... i think that it was not a projecting...it was a recognition in "the Mika on TV" of the same elements of his personality seen before in other times and other places...but this is a questionable theory...
  10. Only different points of view, I think. I start from my personal experience and from other friends who were impressed by Mika after XF. We all say the same thing: when I heard him, when he said that phrase, the day he did that gesture, when he talked about that thing in that way ... SBAMM. Something happened. The curiosity to know more. Who is this guy? Where do those words come from? What's behind his songs? More...and more....and yes, in that "more" there is also a pretty face but...ehm....well, perhaps it is a little bit overrated....he is not a greek statue.... :teehee: ...sometime he looks like a pink heron with long legs...
  11. I can't agree but i really think that on this topic there can be many different points of view.... The point, IMO, is that in television, Mika can talk. He can take the time (in the show and in the related interviews) to tell his story: who he is, what he thinks, what he likes to do. For me it is a very important thing to get, especially for the kind of artist that Mika is....because they were his words, his way of behaving, his humility, his sensitivity that have opened the door to his music. I know, they are only tv show. But they are long shows, it is impossibile to pretend all the time. Something of true comes out. His pretty face, in my opinion, has nothing to do with this. It was not his pretty face to win over new audiences, it was what the audiences saw behind it. Almost nobody knew him, a part from a few old songs, there was nothing to project on him. And i don't even think that it is his pretty face to retain the old fans: they have simply recognized on tv those elements of his personality that they have already known. The pretty face, all alone, is not enough. There are around so many pretty faces, even more pretty than his, with "the empty" around and inside. I really think that "the pretty face", at the end, is never the point. But this is only my opinion.
  12. It's hard to talk about these things, there are too many elements that we do not know. Sony would be better than Univesal? Or rather, an independent label? And how much it would cost to cancel a record deal to pass to another label? I do not know, these are really problems that Mika must solve by himself. I just hope that this time there will be a clear musical project and common purposes, everyone pulling in the same direction.
  13. I think that this kind of feelings are really incompatible with the nature of Mika. If what you say is true, and for UK market or for UK fans is hard to accept that Mika can do things in other countries, in other languages, in other styles ...well, the break with England, professionally speaking, can be incurable. Because multiculturalism (of music, languages, people, experience, countries....) flows in his veins. That is his nature, I see. Sometimes I imagine an album with many styles and many languages, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic ... a huge hot mess ...
  14. I also think that for many many people pop is a synonymous of superficial, commercial, and a little bit silly. No neuron is on while you're listening to pop music. Just relax. I'm not of this opinion, and i know that even Mika is not. But this is a real problem, for me. From a man who defines himself a pop singer, who publish a song like Celebrate as his first single (and in this way, who makes it his "manifesto" ), people expetc only (only!) dance songs and simple ballads. They are not willing to receive something different and to convince them to change their minds now is very difficult. I repeat, something is wrong. Tv shows are something different, they transport Mika in other possible contexts, they are a kind of way.
  15. Well, on this point i can not agree so much...i mean, talent shows are what they are...the difference is always how you can manage that kind of show...some judges seem so stupid in that role...but others are able to show their deep nature...the image that i receved from Mika was not so "pop"...he seemed to me a very "serious artist"...funny, full of joy, coloured...but very very serious, deep and prepared in all kind of music....these shows are very powerful (and dangerous ) if you're trying to change your image because they are seen by a huge amount of people...
  16. The debate is complex and very interesting especially for a beginner like me. I try to give you another point of view, the view of who was not there... but now there is. This is what I see, understand and think at this moment: 1. Mika is a true artist . And he is able to do many things well . I can't see him compressed in the neverending mechanism album / promotion / tour / album / promotion / tour / . In this sense , I DO NOT see him suited to play the role of "international pop artist " I don't care very much what was before, a little bit because I was not there, a little bit because I live in the present. The combination of favorable conditions that have led him to success are difficult to repeat and trying to reproduce the same scheme would be a suicide for me . The music industry has changed, Mika has changed. I don't see him jumping on stage like a madman all over the world up to 40 and 50 years old . Nor he seems willing to become a puppet, churning out albums. If he wants a long and challenging career, he must change course, look for a different audience, change his image (a difficult task for anyone who has a public image). His image is too closely tied , in my opinion , to the "commercial pop" , an idea of music that keep him in a box too small. And this condition, prevents him to comunicate to the public his wonderful world of art . A lot of people , distracted by a thousand things, do not get anything except for his festive image and catchy melodies . Too many people have never even caught a glimpse of his artistic depth . There is something that does not work. What I see now is a man who has a desire to change , to try, to do different things. 2 . In OOL there are many beautiful songs , some of theme are really wonderful . But there are too many wrong arrangements , a forced dance style , which does not fit at all in the style of Mika , I think much more elegant and refined. The first thing I thought listening to the album ( just a few months ago!) is that all those "disco sounds" had nothing to do with the Mika who I was experiencing. This guy has to make peace with himself and find the "right machine" to express what now, at 30 yers old, has to say. 3 . The promotion of OOL was a disaster , it ruined an album with a lot of potential and compromised the career of a talented artist. Whatever choice he takes away from that scheme , including making XF in Burkina Faso , it will be better than that strategy . 4 . Changing scheme often means also changing the starting point. Much better than banging your head against the same wall. Re-starting from a " comfort zone " , such as France or Italy , can give him a warm and thick blanket, able to help him in more hostile lands (professionally speaking ), such as England or America. Step by step you can go far... For all these reasons, it seems to me that the choices of Mika, for now, are fairly consistent with a general strategy of chaniging and repositioning on the musical market. We will se.
  17. thanks for the answer ...I was imagining who knows what...and instead it was about Mika's feet :teehee: they are really golden... :teehee:
  18. Marta.

    Hi!

    Ciao Federica! Benvenuta!
  19. Marta.

    Hello

Welcome Stefania! Your story is so similar to mine! XF opened to me this incredible and coloured Mika's world...and now...i'm completely obsessed...videos, articles, old gigs ....mad about Mika for ever, i think! The gig in Naples has been my "first gig", even if i saw it only by streaming...it has been so emotional... A delightful artist...an intelligent man..I like seeing him whatever he does... :naughty: he's always sincere and passionate...ah, what else can i say?? welcome!!
  20. Have you read the last news? Laura Pausini will be one of the new coah of The Voice Mexico (La Voz… Mexico). Mika is in good company, everybody seems to need a talent. http://www.davidemaggio.it/archives/99981/laura-pausini-la-voz-mexico-the-voice
  21. I think that the exit of Simona and Elio has taken away from the show a somewhat of a little bit "heavy" ... Vittoria is a show woman, a comic actress, intelligent and smart. I'm sure she will be very important to give the right rithm to the whole show. Fresh air! Mika and Morgan seem like two brothers separeted at birth. Fedez (Federico Leonardo Lucia) is the "unknown element", yesterday he seemed to be a little bit nervous, but I think that is normal. He said that he wants to find new talents to gave them an opportunity: " I know the record market...I know what it means having a talent but being alone..."
  22. Yes, I feel a lot of joy and fun around XF this year! :thumb_yello:
