    Yes, possible, but that was the meaning I learned first, long before I knew English.... In German, however, one usually uses "Backing Track" (yes, I know, it looks very German) for half-playback.     Yes, it's possible, I can't judge for sure if it's safer in big cities in Western Europe or Eastern Europe. 😅 You can always take a taxi or Uber. And if it's not too far, you certainly won't be the only person walking to the hotel after the concert.

    I was only in Brussels for one day this year, but only in the centre and I didn't notice anything dangerous. From a feeling, I would say that though neighbourhoods are tougher in Eastern Europe. I can't say much about Brussels, but I lived in Paris for six months and there are also though neighbourhoods. At night you shouldn't necessarily walk around there alone (but I did) and nothing ever happens. During the day there shouldn't be any problems, I would say.

    If you sing to it, you're definitely not doing anything wrong (as they say in the contest rules "to sing along"). And if (many) people do lip-sync, the jury might use that too. They want creative people. They are creative people themselves and should be able to cope with that. And maybe wait a bit. Perhaps Mika gives more info if he sees many people are confused.

    I believe that "playback" is used in this way in German. And in German, playback singing means singing to a tape, e.g. singers who only move their lips during their concerts or they sing but you can't hear them live because there is the tape that is louder.

I don't understand that they mean lip-sync...

    I guess Mika wants us to sing. Maybe he says "playback" because it's recorded and not broadcast live. He wants us to sing. In the French version he says: Even if you can't sing, join in.
