  1. Just a heads up, there are some reviews in Google of previous festivals here. The gigs are generally praised as good, but they criticise the poor event organisation - people citing 40 minute queues for the ladies toilet 😬, over an hour queuing for food, line management at entry not good, letting in more people than the grounds are supposed to hold, and restricted tram availability to get back to lodgings afterwards, with the few running being overcrowded, causing safety issues on the platforms.

Hopefully they've taken steps to improve it, but might be good to be aware in case anyone wants to take alternative measures. Like, I dunno, arrange group taxis and invest in a She-wee? :biggrin2:

It is a standing gig. I am not sure if there is only one stage, since there are 7 artists lined up for that day. Mika will be last.

If it’s just one stage it’s going to be a loooong day. But if they start in the afternoon it’s still possible they all do a full set. Who knows.

Plus if he's on last, he might have the option of running over with an extra song or two. Unless there's a noise curfew if it's a residential area.

I'm still busy planning my UK trip for next month, but already thinking of ways how I can go to the Monaco gig without my son, but still take him to the Cote d'Azur for a holiday. He'll be 9 then, can I leave him alone in the hotel room in Nice for that evening? Leave a phone for him so he can call me? At home he's fine to stay alone for a few hours occasionally, but on holiday, I don't know. However, paying another 400€ for him to attend the dinner and gig, when he has a bunch of food allergies and will probably fall asleep by the time the gig starts (like he did last year in Cap Roig), that's a quite expensive nap. :lmfao: Might be cheaper to hire a nanny for the evening. Wait, in fact that's a great idea, some hotels / resorts offer that service... hmm... 🤔

A nanny is a brilliant idea, good thinking! You'll be able to relax and enjoy the gig without worrying if he's okay. If he's by himself, I'd worry he got bored/lonely. Even if you leave him a phone, it'd still take you a little time to get back to him if needed. With a nanny you know he'd be looked after. :thumb_yello:

Picked up a little moth yesterday that was in the kitchen and let it out the door.

Not really sure how to feel about that because I don't usually like moths, in the past I've freaked out even when a tiny one has just been in the same room as me.

Now I've carried one on my hand to give it a lift out the door?!

And at the start of the week I didn't even mind when a small spider walked over my hand...

(and it looked like an orb weaver too!)

Maybe I'm just becoming more fearless? 🤔

Well, I've just bought my plane tickets, and I've got my festival ticket sorted, so I guess it's official! I will see you all in Bristol! Who else will be there? I only see 8 others on our RSVP list, surely there will be more than that?

Anyhow, can't wait! I thought I might go Mika-less this year, so this is going to be a nice treat!

Woohoo!! 🥳 When do you arrive Deb?

Fanny will be there too, and I think Rose, Chiara and Nina are also going.

I am now back home, but yesterday evening I had the absolute privilege to attend a gig where Mika was opening for Piano City Milano.

It was an acoustic gig with only 200 attending. We learned at the gate that there were 150 VIPs and only 50 tickets that were made available for the public. Hopeful fans queued together with us, for a chance to be let in, just in case of no shows. As I had acquired a ticket when they were made available last week (super fast fingers I guess!?), I was anxiously waiting for my friends to enter. And just before Mika came on, I saw them running in and taking a seat! NOW the party could get started!!

(Side note: there were apparently around 15 no shows and the fans without tickets were a total of 25. If there would’ve been more. I am not sure if they would have been let in.)

It being a very intimate gig allowed Mika to create a show with an entirely different feel. He and ourselves could completely immerse in the music and the moment. You could tell he was tapping into a world and showing emotions that were so raw and pure, it completely left me speechless. It was breathtaking to hear his voice so pure with the only companion the piano, the bass…and our claps and gasps.

My absolute personal highlights were No Place in Heaven and Blue. There was this deep sadness and also doubt that washed over him as he sang it. It must’ve been incredibly hard and freeing to pour his heart out like this.

To create this momentum during a performance, you need to convey your message and direct the sole focus to the instruments (in this case piano and voice). I can imagine this is easier to do in such an intimate, acoustic setting.

We didn’t get up and dance (which was at moments quite hard, particularly during Big Girl and Elle Me Dit!). The atmosphere was simply so delicate and fragile, as it was both majestic and intimidating with the Castello Sforzesco as our scenery. But Mika made it all fuse together, to forget it all and to be in the moment with him.

Since images and film speak louder than words, I have made a compilation to capture a bit of the night. The link to my Instagram reel is: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsYIYoUtgPS/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

So there you go, a recap of 24 hours of Milan and a Mika gig…. In just 6 minutes! Enjoy!

Thank you to all my friends who made this day special. We didn’t have to queue, but we wanted to.. because going to a Mika gig is not only about Mika anymore, it’s everything and everyone around it and the memories that we make. Until next time! (So addictive, isn’t it?)

Thank you Michelle! It sounds wonderful. If this was a precursor to the revised MP tour, it's going to be so good.

I can't believe you all got in too, that's brilliant!! :group_hug:

For sure Adam will film something and post a tik tok video 📹😊

On FB someone asked if the event will be recorded by RAI but the organizers replied there will be no camera (at least for RAI TV)

Btw, I will be attending this event because a friend of mine (not MFC) managed to get a ticket but she doesn't want to go without her sister (the reservation was for only one person) so she asked me if I was interested (what a question 😅) and trasferred me her ticket.

Finger crossed for the weather. In Italy it's raining a lot🌧

So happy for you Chiara! I hope the weather holds up for you all. 🤞Sending sun! ☀ ☀ ☀

  8. Made a discovery. Martha loves kefir yogurt! I get the super tangy flavours, the raspberry, or the mango and passionfruit. She loves them both!

Occasional treat, but I'm wondering if I should buy her some sour plums. :lol3:
