I'm not sad that he apparently for once has the chance to get rid of that virus or whatever it is properly. I wouldn't be too sad if he also skipped that tv appearance on Saturday...

Still a pity for those who were going but better miss him once (or twice) than see him struggle along his future shows due to irreversible health problems :mf_rosetinted:

Wasn't the Saturday TV appearance already filmed at Brighton last week?

Anyway, I was only a bit sorry, I had only got to Cheshunt when Sarahlou phoned me, so I went to Marks and Spencers then went home for an early night, I was wrecked. But now I have woken up early!

I phoned Jems right away, but she was already at the O2 and had just met Laura and Danika.

No, that's something different. I was talking about Wetten Dass, a German speaking show, which is aired in real time. It's in Austria this time and as far as I know he'd be there to just sing one song.. not for chat etc.... however, we'll see...:wink2:

Sadly Mika wasn't there......

Photo-0005.jpg

The artists appeared in the reverse order that is shown in the poster. To be honest I had expected Mika's name to appear but crossed out :bleh: ...but I suppose Radio2 are professionals and have their contacts:bleh:

Anyway I don't know if its appropiate to talk about the gig since Mika wasn't performing....should I?

One thing I will say is that the venue is fantastic, the acts were good some were very good- i.e. Newton Faulkner and The Hoosiers...I now understand what Mika means by the "copying"- it seems that it isn't just having their fans dress up!!

Were The Hoosiers themselves dressed up then? Not in animal costume I hope :bleh:

They were VERY quirky. The lead singer had a bright red jacket on- I suppose the difference there was that whilst Mika's clothes seem tailored his weren't, however it still looked good. I should point out here that he is very short- I'm only 5ft, but he seemed shorter then that!! Ummm...there were other similarities:

  • before they appeared on stage they had they "spaced out" music going for a while before they all came out onto stage

  • They had 2 fur-covered robotlike figures with computerised images for faces that changed expressions throughout their songs

  • two trumpeteers (Billy Brown??) dressed in skeleton costumes (interesting...:wink2: )

I fail to remember his name, but the lead singer has a fantastic voice- its different in that it isn't falsetto and just melodic I suppose. I must admit I did enjoy their performance, but these are some of the things that stood out for me- as perhaps mimicking Mika??? I am bias so you can't take my word for it:wink2:

Newton is something else all together!

Absolutely nothing to look at...really its a strange experience!....but he is so talented its unbelievable- its just him and a guitar making so many different noises, it sounded as if he had a whole band there. Not only contended with being a singer/song writer/musician he's also a stand up comedian. I strongly recommend seeing him live.

Miss F did enjoy it all...but sadly she was ill and had to leave early.

Oh poor miss f, hope she's better today (and you too).

I must say, from what I've seen of Newton Faulkner he does seem a real cut above most of these guitarist singer songwriters at the moment. A completely different kettle of fish to Mika but then Mika is Mika.:naughty:

And I think those dreads of his are quite something!!:naughty:

The Radio 2 gig is all they are talking about on R2 today, and playing all of the artists records.

I know Mika was really sick or he wouldn't have pulled out, but he has missed some great publicity and goodwill opportunities, which I hope he can make up for.

Yes, its a shame! There wasn't a very good feeling there every time his name was mentioned...booing etc:thumbdown: ... but if you're ill you're ill.

One more thing- the replacements acts were nothing compared to Mika and I missed him terribly. (Tom Baxter and Amy McDonald no offense:wink2: )

That's bad, but people did to that at the Big Chill too, I found it embarassing.

Never mind, he still has his faithful fans - whether he wants us or not. :mf_rosetinted:

Good to see you missed him Akim - if you know what I mean..

That is ridiculous, booing him because he's ill. It's true he must really be suffering to have cancelled this, he really must be at the end of his tether now physically.

Is he cancelling those things in Germany and Russia too? He should.
