zoots14 Posted June 28, 2008 Share Posted June 28, 2008 There once was an arse, quite cute I supposewe don't know if shaven or waxed twas owned by a wizard, who used it as most to sit upon when he relaxed but sometimes the wizard was shakin' his stuff and something quite odd became clear it's said to be true, if you looked close enough a sunbeam emerged from his rear so people would gather from there and from here to get a good look at the man according to rumours all those who got near came home with a beautiful tan I love it.... Your other poems too... I can't believe that English isn't even your first language. And you joke about not being a poet, but even though the rest of the poetry here (hi babs! ) is fabulous as well, your poems are pretty much the only ones I see that not only rhyme, but also follow a certain meter and stress scheme, and have a twist in the last couplet. So whatever you may say, your technical skills impress me quite a lot! There once was a wizard, a talented boy who had such adorable curls with glitter and magic, with laughter and joy he went out to conquer the world I want you to write me poetic bedtime stories! I've never been to a concert of his,to watch him shake, giggle and snort. Way to make him sound like a coke addict. Oooh... I never did get that newfangled non-rhyming poetry. I mean, it's not a poem if it doesn't rhyme, in my book Sorry, had to comment. New-fangled, as in, dating from the 19th c. in English and earlier than that in other languages? Even though rhyme is one of the elements of poetry, it's not the only one, and technically rhythm and meter are just as important. Blank verse poetry jettisons the rhyme scheme but it still follows meter, and can be just as challenging in its own way, especially if you choose a less common meter, like a spondaic tetrameter (although I don't know why you would). The Greek poets, btw, did not use rhyme, and Homer composed his poetry in the classic dactylic hexameter. Anyyyyyway... I want to partake of this, but I can't be bothered to write poetry about Mika! Or was it clowns and Halloween oh dear my mind can't face it so many things he has in store perhaps a brand new bassist.
