There's no laws or anything that separate the classes, but basically there are three classes:

 

1. The rich

2. Middle class (most people)

3. The poor

 

To say that this festival was middle class was making a statement about the mentality of the people who attend it because as you pointed out from an economic standpoint most people are middle class by US standards, so that's not what they're referring to.

 

..wait...did he refer to this in the interview??

..must listen to it when I have some time.

 

 

EDIT: just listenened.

it was the interviewer who said Latitude was for the middle class. I think what she meant was for 'conformists'- the ones who follow trends, who are not particularly well-informed and who buy products (incl. music) produced for the masses.

Mika corrected her. He sounded quite positive about the festival and said people were actually cool and 'trendy' (meaning, being open to new things).

 

 

PS: Love this version of BIOTG. Probably my favourite of all the acoustic recordings of this song.
